Audix ATS Series User manual

ATS1LP (Phoenix Terminal) / ATS1LX (5 pin XLRm)
Installed Sound
ATS SERIES
OVERVIEW:
The ATS1L shock absorbent table stand is designed for professional audio
installations. It is designed for use with phantom powered gooseneck condenser
microphones such as the Audix ADX Series, MG Series and MicroPod.
The ATS1L features a heavy duty die cast base, noise free on-off switch, LED
indicator, 3 pin XLR input connector (for Mic) and programmable switch functions.
The ATS1LP features a 5 pin Phoenix Terminal output connector inside the base. The
ATS1LX features a 5 pin XLRm connector at the back of the base.
Applications for the ATS1L include podiums, lecterns, video conferences, classrooms,
courtrooms and boardrooms.
TABLE STAND WITH PROGRAMMABLE SWITCH & LOGIC
FEATURES:
Heavy duty die cast base for stability
Programmable switch with momentary and latching options
Hidden dip switches
Bass roll-off lter
LED indicator lights operate on phantom power
Noise free mechanical switch
Operates on phantom power voltage of 36-52 volts
3 pin Mic XLR input connector designed for gooseneck
condenser microphones
Phoenix terminal connector for output (ATS1LP only)
5 pin Base XLRm connector for output (ATS1LX only)
Local/ remote option allows use with automated mixers
External LED control allows for live status of the microphone
Shock mount design minimizes vibration
OPERATION: [Refer to figures below]
Connecting the gooseneck microphone:
Align the XLR pins of the microphone to the XLR pins on top of the base. Gently
push down until the connectors “click” into place [gure 1].
Removing the microphone: Press the tab on the top of the base to release
the internal locking tab allowing the microphone to be easily pulled out of the
connector.
Connecting Audio and Logic:
ATS1LP - Simply unscrew the bottom plate of the ATS1LP to run a custom cable to
the supplied 5 terminal Phoenix connector and mating block [gure 2]. This allows
termination of the leads with no soldering involved (see “pin out conguration”
below). Audio cable can be run either “tail out” from the ATS1LP or, by drilling the
surface, the cable can run straight down (90 degrees) through the table for a more
permanent mounting solution and a clean wireless look [gure 3].
ATS1LX - (5 pin XLR) Use a balanced microphone cable to plug a 5 pin XLRf
connector into the 5 pin XLRm connector on the back of the ATS1LX base. To
disconnect the cable, press the tab on the microphone cable XLRf connector and
pull the cable out [gure 4].

LOGIC CONNECTIONS:
SWITCH SETTINGS:
Setting Dip Switch - Low Cut Filter
Inside the base, locate the switch on the PCB labeled “Low Cut Filter” [Figure 6].
The lter (12dB, 2nd order) provides additional protection from bass frequencies
that may cause rumble, hum, or vibration by eliminating frequencies below 100 Hz.
To engage the lter, push the dip switch to the “on” position.
Setting Dip Switches - On, Off, Mute
Inside the base, locate the panel of 3 dip switches on the PCB [Figure 7]. The top
switch determines whether the control of the switch is handled externally by logic
or locally by the user. The default is “local”. The other two sets of switches control
the function of the lighted switch on the front of the base [Figure 7].
The options are:
1: “Momentary” hold to talk or hold to mute.
2: “Toggle” (also known as “latching”) push on and push off. There are 4 switch
function combinations as follows:
SWITCH FUNCTION (Local Mode) DIP SWITCH SETTING
1. Momentary Mute: Mic is on;
switch is pressed and held to mute.
2. Momentary Talk: Mic is off;
switch is pressed and held to talk.
3. Toggle Off: Mic is on; switch is
pressed to turn the mic off and on
4. Toggle On: Mic is off; switch is
pressed to turn the mic on and off
SWITCH FUNCTION (External Mode)
By setting the dip switch (#3) to the “E” position, the switch functions can
be controlled remotely by an automated mixer. In this case, the function of
the switch on top of the base can be programmed by the installer for
custom applications.
