concerning disposal
xDisposal of packaging
The packaging protects your appliance
fromdamage during transit. All packaging
materials are environmentally friendly and
recyclable. Please contribute to a better
environment by disposing of packaging
materials in an environmentallyfriendly
manner.
Please ask your dealer or inquire at your
local authority about current means of
disposal.
xDisposal of your old
appliance
Old appliances are not worthless rubbish!
Valuable rawmaterials can be reclaimed
by recycling old appliances.
This appliance is labelled in
accordance with European Directive
2002/96/EG concerning used
electrical and electronic appliances
(waste electrical and electronic
equipment  WEEE). The guideline
determines the framework for the return
and recycling of used appliances as
applicable throughout the EU.
!Warning
Redundant appliances:
1. Pull out the mains plug.
2. Cut off the power cord and discard
with the mains plug.
Refrigerators contain refrigerants and the
insulation contains gases. Refrigerant
and gases must be disposed of properly.
Ensure that tubing of the refrigerant
circuit is not damaged prior to proper
disposal.

Please read the operating and installation
instructions carefully.
They contain important information
onhowto install, use and maintain the
appliance.
Keep all documentation for subsequent
use or for the next owner.
Technical safety
SThis appliance contains a small quantity
of environmentallyfriendly but
flammable R600a refrigerant. Ensure
that the tubing of the refrigerant circuit
is not damaged during transportation
and installation. Leaking refrigerant may
cause eye injuries or ignite.
If damage hasoccurred
− Keep naked flames and/or ignition
sources away fromthe appliance.
− Thoroughly ventilate the roomfor
several minutes.
−Switch off the appliance and pull out
the mains plug or switch off the fuse.
− Notify customer service.
The more refrigerant an appliance
contains, the larger the roommust be.
Leaking refrigerant can forma
flammable gasair mixture in rooms
which are too small.
The roommust be at least 1m3per 8g
of refrigerant. The amount of refrigerant
in your appliance is indicated on the
rating plate inside the appliance.

SOnly customer service may change
thepower cord and carry out any other
repairs. Improper installations and
repairs may put the user at
considerable risk.
Important information when
using the appliance
SNever use electrical appliances inside
the appliance (e.g.heaters, electric ice
makers, etc.). Risk of explosion!
SNever use a steamcleaner to defrost
orclean the appliance. The steammay
penetrate electrical parts and cause
ashortcircuit.
Risk of electric shock!
SDo not use pointed or sharpedged
implements to remove frost or layers
ofice.
You could damage the refrigerant
tubing. Leaking refrigerant may ignite
orcause eye injuries.
SDo not store products which contain
flammable propellants (e.g.spray cans)
or explosive substances in the
appliance. Explosion hazard!
SDo not stand or support yourself on
thebase, drawers or doors, etc.
SBefore defrosting or cleaning the
appliance, switch off the appliance,
pullout the mains plug or switch off
thefuse.
Pull on the mains plug, not onthe
power cord.
SBottles which contain a high
percentage of alcohol must be sealed
and stored in an upright position.
SKeep plastic parts and the door seal
free of oil and grease. Otherwise, parts
and door seal will become porous.
SNever cover or block the ventilation
openings for the appliance.
SPeople who have limited physical,
sensoryor mental abilities or
inadequate knowledge must not use
this appliance unless they are
supervised or given meticulous
instructions.
SDo not store bottled or canned drinks
(especially carbonated drinks) in the
freezer compartment. Bottles and cans
may explode!
SNever put frozen food straight fromthe
freezer compartment into your mouth.
Risk of lowtemperature burns!
SAvoid prolonged touching of frozen
food, ice or the evaporator pipes, etc.

Children in the household
SKeep children away frompackaging
and its parts. Danger of suffocation
fromfolding cartons and plastic film!

appliance!
SIf the appliance features a lock, keep
the key out of the reach of children.
General requirements
The appliance is suitable

The appliance is suppressed according
to EU Directive 2004/108/EC.
The refrigerant circuit has been tested for
leaks.
This product complies with the relevant
safety regulations for electrical appliances
(EN60335/2/24).

Observe ambient
temperature and
ventilation
Irrespective of the climatic class
(seerating plate), the appliance can
beoperated atthe following ambient
temperatures:
(The rating plate is located in the chest
freezer lid. Fig.1/10)

If the ambient temperature drops below
the lower ambient temperature limit,
therunning time of the refrigerating unit
isreduced. As a result, the freezer
compartment is not adequately
refrigerated. The frozen food may thawin
extreme cases.
Ventilation
Fig.0
The air on the rear panel and on the
sidepanels of the appliance heats up.
Thewarmair must be able to escape.
Otherwise, the refrigerator must work
harder. This will increase the power
consumption. Therefore: Never cover
orblock ventilation openings!
Installing the appliance
Install the appliance in a dry, well
ventilated room. The installation location
should neither be exposed to direct
sunlight nor near a heat source, e.g.
acooker, radiator, etc. If installation next
to a heat source is unavoidable, use
asuitable insulating plate or observe the
following minimumdistances to a heat
source:
3cmto electric or gas cookers.
30 cmto an oil or solidfuel cooker.
The floor of the installation location must
not give way; if required, reinforce floor.
Align appliance with a spirit level.
If the floor is uneven, compensate with
supports.
The appliance can be transported on its
smoothrunning rollers. Fig.4
!Warning!
If required, secure the appliance
toprevent it fromrolling away.
If the appliance is placed next to the wall,
there must be a minimumdistance of
70mm between the wall and rear panel
orside panels.
Removing
thetransportation
protection devices
Remove the four transportation protection
devices, Fig.3, which are attached
between the chest freezer lid and
appliance.

Insert two of these transportation
protection devices into the designated
holders at the back of the appliance.
Thismaintains the minimumdistance
between the appliance and the wall, the
chest freezer lid can be opened correctly
and ventilation is guaranteed.
Connecting
theappliance
After installing the appliance, wait at least
½hour before switching on the
appliance. During transportation the oil in
the compressor may have flowed into
therefrigeration system.
Before switching on the appliance for the
first time, clean the interior
(seeCleaning).
The socket should be freely accessible.
Connect the appliance to 220−240V/
50Hz alternating current via a correctly
installed earthed socket. The socket must
be fused with a 10 to 16 A fuse.
For appliances operated in nonEuropean
countries, the identification plate should
be checked whether the electric supply
and the current model stated match the
vales of the mains supply. These
specifications can be found on the rating
plate. Fig.q
The mains connection cable may be
replaced by an electrician only.
!Warning!
Never connect the appliance to electronic
energy saver plugs or to power inverters
which convert the direct current to 230V
alternating current (e.g. solar equipment,
power supplies on ships).

(for appliances with partition up to
maximume" mark on the partition),
this setting can be selected to save
energy.

The temperature in the freezer
compartment can be set by turning
the temperature selector with a coin.
Position1: highest temperature

If the red display is lit, this indicates
that the temperatures in the
appliance are too low.
4 On/Off display
When the green display is lit,
thisindicates that the appliance
isswitched on.
5super" function
Switches super freezing onand off.
The super" function is switched on
when the yellowdisplay is lit.

Switching on the appliance
SWhen the appliance is connected,
itswitches on and the green display,
Fig.2/4, is lit.
SIf the red display is lit, Fig.2/3, this
indicates that the temperature in the
appliance is too warm; do not put
frozen food in the appliance until the
red display goes out.
Selecting the temperature
The temperature selector has been set
tosetting4 at the factory.
To change the setting, rotate the
temperature selector. Fig.2/2
Position1: highest temperature
Position6: lowest temperature
Attention: Temperature changes do not
take effect straight away.
Operating tips
If the lid cannot be immediately opened
again when the chest freezer is closed,
wait two to three minutes until the
resulting lowpressure has equalised.
Warning messages
Temperature alarm
If the temperature in the freezer
compartment becomes too warm
(approx.−9°C) and the frozen food is at
risk, the alarm" display is lit. Fig.2/3

prolonged period:
1. Pull out the mains plug or switch off
thefuse.
2. Defrost and clean the appliance.
3. Leave chest freezer lid open.

Information about the max. freezing
capacity within 24hours can be found
onthe rating plate.
Packing food
1. Place the food in the wrapping.
2. Press out all the air.
3. Seal the wrapping.
4. Label the wrapping with the contents
and date.
The following productsare not
suitable for wrapping food:
Wrapping paper, greaseproof paper,
cellophane, refuse bags and used
shopping bags.
The following productsare suitable for
wrapping food:
Plastic film, polyethylene blown film,
aluminiumfoil and freezer tins.
These products can be purchased from
your dealer.
The following productsare suitable for
sealing the wrappedfood:
Rubber bands, plastic clips, string,
coldresistant adhesive tape.
Bags and polyethylene blown filmcan be
sealed with a filmsealer.
Freezing fresh food
In the prefreezer compartment,
Fig.1/12, fresh food is frozen especially
quickly and therefore also gently.
Distribute the food over the bottomand
along the side panels of the prefreezer
compartment. Already frozen food must
not come into contact with food which is
to be frozen. If required, restack frozen
food in the storage compartment.
If more food is frozen than there is space
in the prefreezer compartment, the left
side of the bottomof the storage
compartment can be used for freezing.

Fast freezing
In order to retain the vitamins, nutritional
value, appearance and flavour food
should be frozen as quickly as possible.
Do not exceed the max. freezing
capacity. Vitamins, nutritional values,
appearance and taste are therefore
retained.
To prevent an undesirable temperature
rise when placing fresh food in the freezer
compartment, switch on fast freeze
several hours beforehand.
As a rule, 4−6hours is adequate.
If max. freezing capacity is to be utilised,
24hours are required.
Smaller quantities of food (approx.10%
ofthe freezing capacity) can be frozen
without fast freeze.
To switch fast freeze on and off,
pressthesuper" button. Fig.2/5
Fast freeze has started when the super"
display is lit. Fig.2/5
The refrigerating unit nowoperates
continuously. The freezer compartment
drops to a lowtemperature.
Storing food
Glass bottles containing liquids which
may freeze must not be stored in the
appliance. Bottles will crack.
The baskets allowthe produce to be
clearly arranged. The chest freezer can
also be loaded without the baskets up
tothe stacking limit, Fig.1/11, (lower
edge of the cover frame). In this case
more frozen food can be stored, the
energy consumption reduced and,
ifafault occurs, the temperature rise
delayed.
Attention!
Do not stack food above the lower edge
of the cover frame. Fig. 1/11
Ensure that the storage temperature
isatleast −18°C.
If the temperature in the appliance rises
due to a fault or power failure, check
whether the produce has started to thaw.
Do not refreeze thawed food. Exception:
Ifyou use the food to make a ready meal
(boiling or frying), you can refreeze this
ready meal.
Storage duration
To retain the quality of the frozen food, do
not exceed the permitted storage
duration at −18ºC.

If baskets are to be placed on the base
ofthe appliance, first remove or fold in
the handles.
If required, purchase more baskets in a
specialist shop, specifying the appliance

Removable partition
Fig.6(some models only)
The partition prevents food which is to be
frozen in the prefreezer compartment
fromcoming into contact with already
frozen food in the storage compartment.
If the partition is pulled out and placed
onthe bottomof the chest freezer, small
items of frozen food, e.g. strawberries,
can be frozen quickly and above all
individually. When defrosting the
appliance, the partition can be placed
under the drainage duct to catch the
defrost water.
Defrosting
A layer of frost on the container walls
impairs refrigeration of the frozen food
and increases power consumption.
Remove the layer of hoarfrost regularly.
General tips
SWhen loading and unloading the chest
freezer, open the lid as briefly as
possible.
SDo not install the chest freezer
inadamp room. High air humidity
promotes formation of frost.
SPack fresh food as airtight as possible.
Attention: Do not scrape off hoarfrost or
ice with a knife or pointed object. You
could damage the refrigerant tubes.
Leaking refrigerant may ignite or cause
eye injuries.
Thawing the appliance
SApprox. 4 hours before defrosting
switch on fast freeze to ensure that the
food is frozen solid.
SThen remove frozen food and wrap in
several layers of newspaper or a
blanket and store in a cool location.
SOpen the lid and pull out the mains
plug.
SPull out outer drainage stopper,
Fig.7/1, take flat tray or, if available,
appliance partition, Fig.7/2, out of the
appliance, place under the drainage
hole to catch the defrost water,
Fig.7/3, and pull out the inner
drainage stopper, Fig.7/4.
SAfter defrosting, clean the appliance
and wipe the inside dry.
SClose defrost water drainage with both
stoppers, insert partition, connect
appliance and put back frozen food.
Defrosting aids
To accelerate the defrosting process,
aplastic spatula can be used to remove
the layer of ice
Warning!
Never use electric appliances, defrosting
sprays or a naked flame to defrost the
appliance, such as heaters, steam
cleaning equipment, candles or
petroleumlamps, etc.
Do not place a pan of hot water in the
appliance to accelerate the defrosting
process.

Cleaning the appliance
SIt is advisable to clean the freezer
compartment after each defrosting
process.
SPull out the mains plug or remove
thefuse.
STake out the frozen food and store
inacool location. Place the ice block
(ifenclosed) on the food.
SClean the appliance with lukewarm
water and a little washingup liquid.
SAfter cleaning: Reconnect the
appliance.
SOccasionally clean the rear of the
appliance with a vacuumcleaner or
paint brush to prevent an increased
power consumption.
!Attention
Do not use abrasive or acidic cleaning
agents and solvents.
Clean the lid seal with water only and dry
thoroughly with a cloth.
The cleaning water must not get into the
control panel or the light.
Tips for saving energy
SInstall appliance in a cool, dry, well
ventilated roombut not in direct sunlight
and not near a heat source (e.g.
radiator, cooker, etc.). If required, use an
insulating plate.
SLeave warmfood to cool down before
placing it in the appliance!
SThawfrozen food by placing it in the
refrigerator. The lowtemperature of the
frozen food then cools the food in the
refrigerator.
SOpen appliance lid as briefly as
possible!
SA layer of hoarfrost in the freezer
compartment will impair refrigeration
ofthe frozen food and increase power
consumption. Defrost the appliance
iffrost forms!
SOccasionally clean the rear of the
appliance with a vacuumcleaner or
paint brush to prevent an increased
power consumption.
SIf only average quantities of food
(approx. 40%60% of the maximum
freezing capacity) are frozen, the food
can be placed in the appliance 6hours
after super freezing was switched on
and then super freezing can be
switched off.
SIf the appliance is only partially loaded
(for appliances with partition not higher
than e" mark on the partition), load
with food which uses the eco" setting.
Operating noises
Quite normal noises
Humming refrigerating unit is running.
Bubbling, gurgling or whirring noises
refrigerant is flowing through the tubing.
Clicking motor, switches or solenoid
valves are switching on/off.

Eliminating minor faultsyourself
Before you call customer service:
Please check whether you can eliminate the fault yourself based on the following
information.
Customer service will charge you for advice, even if the appliance is still under
guarantee!

Seguridad técnica
SEl presente aparato incorpora una
pequeña cantidad de isobutano
(R600a), un hidrocarburo natural
respetuoso con el medio ambiente,
aunque es inflamable. Al efectuar la
instalación y montaje de la unidad,
deberá prestarse particular atención
aque el circuito defrío no sufra ningún
tipo de daño odesperfecto. Tenga
presente que la salida a chorro del
agente refrigerante puede inflamarse

Cuanto mayor cantidad de agente
refrigerante contenga el aparato,
mayores dimensiones tiene que tener el
recinto en donde se vaya a colocar. En
recintos demasiado pequeños pueden
formarse mezclas inflamables de aire y
gas en caso de producirse fugas en el
circuito de frío del aparato.
Las medidas del recinto de instalación
del aparato deberán ser de 1m3por
cada 8gramos de agente refrigerante.
La cantidad de agente refrigerante que
incorpora su aparato figura en la placa
de características, que se encuentra en
el interior del mismo.
SLa sustitución del cable de conexión
ala red eléctrica del aparato, así como
cualquier otra reparación que fuera
necesario efectuar en éste, sólo podrán
ser ejecutadas por técnicos
especializados de la marca. La
instalación o reparación efectuadas de
modo erróneo oincorrecto pueden
implicar serios peligros para el usuario.
Al usar el aparato

En caso de descender la temperatura del
entorno por debajo del límite inferior de la
misma, el grupo frigorífico de la unidad

puede provocar aumentos de

congelación. En casos extremos, ello
puede dar lugar ala descongelación de
los alimentos congelados.

Instalación del aparato
El lugar más adecuado para el
emplazamiento del aparato es una
habitación seca, dotada de una buena
ventilación. Recuerde además que el
aparato no debe instalarse de forma que
reciba directamente los rayos del sol,
niencontrarse tampoco próximo a focos
activos de calor tales como cocinas,
calefacciones, etc. No obstante, si esto
último fuera inevitable, se habrá de
proteger la unidad con un panel aislante
adecuado, o bien observar las siguientes
distancias mínimas de separación con
respecto a la fuente de calor en cuestión:
Cocinas eléctricas o de gas, 3cm.
Cocinas de gasoil o de carbón, 30 cm.
El suelo en el lugar de emplazamiento
delaparato deberá poseer una suficiente
capacidad de sustentación.
En caso necesario deberá reforzarse
adecuadamente.
Nivelar el aparato con ayuda de un nivel
de burbuja.
Las posibles irregularidades del suelo
sepueden compensar mediante calzos.
Para facilitar las maniobras y
movimientos de transporte, el aparato
incorpora unos rodillos de fácil
desplazamiento. Fig.4

En caso necesario, asegurar el aparato
contra desplazamiento fortuito calzándolo.
En caso de instalar el aparato contra la
pared deberá observarse una distancia
mínima de 70mm respecto a las paredes
posterior y laterales.

Retirar el seguro
detransporte
Retirar los cuatro seguros de transporte,
Fig.3, situados entre la tapa y el
aparato.
Introducir dos de los seguros de
transporte en los soportes previstos a tal
efecto en la parte posterior del aparato.
De este modo se puede observar la
mínima distancia prescrita respecto a la
pared, latapa abre correctamente y la
ventilación del aparato está garantizada.
Conectar el aparato ala
red eléctrica
Tras colocar el aparato en su
emplazamiento definitivo deberá dejarse
reposar éste durante aprox. ½hora hasta
conectarlo, dado que durante el
transporte del aparato puede ocurrir que
el aceite contenido en el compresor
penetre en el circuito del frío.
Limpiar el interior del aparato antes
desupuesta en funcionamiento inicial
(véaseel capítulo «Limpieza»).
La toma de corriente deberá ser
libremente accesible (preferentemente
emplazada por encima del armario).
Conectar la unidad a una red eléctrica
decorriente alterna de 220−240V/50Hz
a través de una toma de corriente
instalada reglamentariamente y provista
de puesta a tierra. La toma de corriente
debe estar protegida con un fusible de
10−16amperios.
En los aparatos destinados a países
fuera del continente europeo deberá
verificarse si los valores de la tensión de
conexión yel tipo de corriente que
figuran en la placa de características del
aparato coinciden con los de la red
nacional. Estas indicaciones figuran en la
placa decaracterísticas del aparato.

Conectar el aparato
SAl acoplar el aparato a la red eléctrica,
éste es conectado y el piloto de aviso
verde, Fig.2/4, se ilumina.
SLa iluminación del piloto de aviso rojo,
Fig.2/3, señala que la temperatura en
el interior del aparato es demasiado
elevada (calor). Introducir los alimentos
en el aparato sólo una vez que se haya
apagado el piloto de aviso rojo.
Ajustar la temperatura
El regulador de la temperatura viene
ajustado de fábrica en el valor4.
Para modificar su ajuste, girar el
regulador. Fig.2/2

¡Atención! Las modificaciones de la
temperatura requieren un cierto tiempo
hasta hacerse notar.
Advertencias relativas al
funcionamiento del aparato
En caso de cerrar la tapa del congelador
y no poderla abrir inmediatamente
después, esperar unos dos o tres
minutos hasta que la depresión generada
haya sido compensada, antesde volver a
abrir la tapa.
Avisos
Alarma Temperatura
El piloto de aviso «alarm» se ilumina
cuando la temperatura en el interior
delcompartimento de congelación es
demasiado elevada (aprox.9°C) y los
productos congelados almacenados en
elmismo corren peligro de deteriorarse.
