Grounding
• To provide protection against electrical surges induced by lightning, static charges, or any other
cause, the camera and cabling system must be properly grounded to earth. For installation on a
building, the camera must be bonded (that is, provided with a low impedance connection) to the
building’s structural earth ground system. For installation on a metal pole with a proper ground
system at the base, the camera must be bonded to the pole. For installation on a non-grounded or
insulated support, the camera must be grounded with an adequate ground strap or wire between
the camera and a nearby ground system, or to a ground system installed at the base of the sup-
port. Failure to adequately ground the camera may lead to failure of the camera. This applies to
low voltage (i.e. PoE cameras) as well as to 115 Vac cameras. Failures due to surges are not
covered by the warranty, as they are not due to defects in material or workmanship, and it is
the installer’s responsibility to meet these grounding requirements.
• All system cables must be shielded, and the shield(s) must be bonded to earth ground.

3.1.6 Installation Procedure
Provisions must be made for routing the system cable up to the camera system location:
• Pole mounting: if the cable routes up through the pole, support the cable inside the pole to strain
relieve the camera connector.
• Pedestal mounting: route the cable down into the pedestal. The cable must be secured by a strain
relief within the pedestal and must not be allowed to hang free through the pedestal.
The sequence of installation can vary from site to site:
• Verify that the system cable is accessible for connection to the camera system connector at the
mounting location.
• Prepare wall for installation: use the mount as a template. Mark and drill holes in the mounting
surface.
• Install large corner, large pole, and parapet mounts. For mounting on:
• Acorner: Use the mount as a template. Mark and drill holes in the mounting surface. Posi-
tion the mount over the mounting holes. Secure with 5/16-inch fasteners (not supplied).
Drill a hole for the cable if required. See Figure 6.
• A pole: Position the pole mount on the pole and secure with the stainless steel mounting
straps(supplied).Useaatbladescrewdriveror5/16-inchsocketwrench(notsupplied)
to tighten strap screws. See Figure 5.
• A parapet: Fasten the parapet mount adapter to the structure (see Figure 20):
1. Slip the upper and lower mounting brackets onto the tube assembly. The bracket
with the strap on the lower end is installed last. Seat the bottom of the tube
against the strap and snug the U bolt.
2. Hold the parapet mount assembly against the parapet and position it as far down
aspossible,sothatthe6-inchangeclearsthetopoftheparapetbyoneortwo
inches.
3. Slide the upper mounting bracket up to the edge of the parapet (or as close to the
edge as practical) and anchor the fasteners securely. Snug the U bolt and mark
the drill pattern.
4. Drill holes, insert fasteners, and secure to parapet.
• Install the adjustable head for a standalone camera system (see Figures 3-7):
• Attach the mounting bracket to the pedestal or wall mount with four 1/4-20 stainless steel
screws (supplied).
• Attach the adjustable head to the mounting bracket with the bolt (supplied).
• Install the wall mount. For mounting on:
• Awall: Position the wall mount over the mounting holes.Attach with four 5/16-inch fasten-
ers (supplied). See Figures 4 and 7.

18 6X-1110B
• A pole or a corner: Attach the wall mount to the studs on the large pole or large corner
mount and secure with the 5/16-inch nuts and washers (supplied). See Figures 5 and 6.
• Aparapet:Positionthewallmountovertheangeholes.Securewithfour5/16-inchfas-
teners (not supplied).
• Install the support strut. For mounting on:
• A wall or parapet: Prepare the surface for the support strut installation. Using the wall
swivel as a template, drill three holes into the mounting surface about 17 inches (430 mm)
from the centerline of the wall mount. See Figures 4 and 7.
• A corner and pole: Attach the small corner mount to a wall or the small pole mount to a
pole and secure with fasteners (not supplied) or with the stainless steel mounting straps
(supplied). See Figures 5 and 6.
• A wall, corner, pole, and parapet: Attach the wall swivel to the mounting surface with three
1/4-inch diameter stainless steel fasteners.
• Attach the clamp swivel to the wall mount with the stainless steel clamp (supplied) and
securely tighten the clamp.
• For a standalone camera system:
• Loosen the bolts on the adjustable head and adjust the pan rotation and tilt angle to the
desired position. Retighten the bolts and lock the mount into place.
• Connect the system cable to the camera system rear plate.
