GENERAL INFORMATION
These instructions for use are an integral part of the delivery of your wheelchair.
The user should keep them available at all times and keep them with the product if this is
passed on to a third party.
The manufacturer reserves the right to make changes relative to the information provided in
these instructions as a result of technical developments and improvements.
This document may be reprinted, translated and/or duplicated in any form whatsoever, in part
or in full, only subject to the manufacturer‘s prior written consent.
There is no update service for these instructions for use. Please contact the manufacturer to
keep abreast of new developments.
INDICATIONS OF USE
The TANDEM wheelchair is intended for persons with reduced mobility who weigh up to 330lbs.
/150 kg. It is not intended to be used for any other purpose –in particular as a
climbing aid or to carry heavy loads. Any such use can be dangerous!

SAFETY WARNINGS
READ and FOLLOW all the instructions, warnings and notes of this manual before using your
wheelchair.
If there is information in this manual that you do not understand or if you need more
assistance to use your wheelchair, please contact your authorized Continent Globe provider.
Failure to follow the instructions and procedures can cause either personal injury, component
damage or malfunction.
Warning! An authorized Continent Globe provider must deliver this wheelchair
following all procedures and instructions specified in this manual before delivery to
the user.
INITIAL RIDE SAFETY CHECK
Always try your wheelchair in the presence of your authorized Continent Globe
provider to make sure you understand all the basic functions of your wheelchair.
Continent Globe recommends that you perform a visual inspection and a safety
check before each use to make sure that your wheelchair is safe to use.
WEIGHT LIMITATIONS
Respect the weight capacity of this wheelchair which is set at 330 lbs., never carry a
passenger on this wheelchair.
INCLINE INFORMATION
Proceed with extreme caution as you approach the downgrade of a ram or other
incline. When riding down a ramp, proceed slowly to ensure a safe controlled
descent. Avoid sudden stops and starts.
When climbing an incline, keep your wheelchair moving. If you must stop, start again
slowly. When driving down an incline, proceed slowly and drive in the forward
direction only. If you wheelchair starts to accelerate down the incline faster than you
desired, bring it to a complete stop using both hands on each respective handrims to
reduce the speed.

SAFETY WARNINGS
DRIVING SURFACES
Your wheelchair is designed to provide optimum stability under normal driving
conditions –Dry and Level surfaces
DO NOT use your wheelchair on the following surfaces :

Uneven terrain or soft surfaces.

Tall grass that can entangle the moving parts.

Gravel or sand.

Edge of a stream, lake or ocean.

If you feel unsure about a driving surface, avoid it.
INCLEMENT WEATHER PRECAUTIONS
Exposure of your wheelchair to inclement weather conditions should be avoided as
much as possible. If you suddenly get caught up in rain, snow, severe cold or heat
while using your wheelchair, proceed to a covered area as soon as possible.
Thoroughly dry your wheelchair before storing or using it again.
Prolonged exposure to extreme hot or cold conditions may affect the temperature of
upholstered and non-upholstered components of your wheelchair, possibly resulting
in skin irritation.
STATIONARY OBSTACLES
Always proceed with extreme caution when driving near raised surfaces, unprotected
ledges such as porches, steps and curbs. Make sure your wheelchair is perpendicular
to the obstacle before attempting to climb it. Do not climb or descend an obstacle of
more than 2’’ (5cm) unless you are assisted by an attendant. Never drive backwards
on an obstacle as it may make the wheelchair tip.
STAIRS OR ESCALATORS
Never attempt to use your wheelchair in stairs or on an escalator.
TRANSPORT IN A MOVING VEHICULE
Never stay in your wheelchair when riding in a moving vehicle, your wheelchair
should be safely stowed and you should be seated in a seat with a seat belt.
POSITIONNING BELT
Always make sure your seat belt is buckled while using your wheelchair.

SAFETY WARNINGS
CENTER OF GRAVITY
Never remove the anti-tips, the wheelchair could tip backwards, failure to follow this
warning could result in injury.
Never reach or lean over while driving your wheelchair. If it is absolutely necessary to
reach or lean over while seated in your wheelchair, make sure you maintain a good
center of gravity to prevent the chair from tipping.
WHEEL INSTALLATION
Always make sure that the ball detents on the quick-release axles snap into place and
are fully visible after the wheel installation.
PRODUCT ALTERATION
Never modify the frame or other components of you wheelchair, failure to follow this
warning could result in injury.
TRANSFERS
Transferring in and out of your wheelchair requires a good sense of balance. Always
have an attendant assisting you while learning to properly transfer yourself.
To eliminate the possibility of injury, we recommend that you
follow the following steps when attempting to transfer:

Get close to the object you are transferring to.

Align casters pointing forward.

Make wheel locks are locked in place.

Flip-up the armrest on the transfer side.

Swing-in the footrests or remove them completely to free your legs.
PRESCRIPTION DRUGS OR PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS
Do not use your wheelchair if you are impaired by drugs or alcool, this will cause
limitations in using your wheelchair safely.
PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION / SERIAL NUMBER
All labels must remain on the wheelchair and must be readable. These information
are important to follow the history of your wheelchair.

UNFOLDING YOUR WHEELCHAIR
Engage both wheel locks.
Standing next to your wheelchair, apply
pressure equally on both sides of the
crossbrace.
Make sure the the crossbrace is resting
in the crossbrace saddle.
Install the backrest flap under the seat
to close the gap between the seat and
back.

INSTALLING THE FOOTRESTS
Install the footrest in the front of the
frame and pivot the footrests until it
locks in place. The footrest offers the
swingaway or swing-in feature by
pressing on the red release latch.
Once the footrests installed, flip down
the footplates.
INSTALLING THE REAR WHEELS
Press the quick release button of the
axle to install or remove the wheel.
IMPORTANT: Always make sure that the ball
detent is fully visible once installed.

INCREASING THE SEAT DEPTH
Under the seat, you will find the flaps
with Velcro that will allow you to
increase the seat depth to 18’’.
Bring the strap around the crossbrace
on each side and Velcro together.
ADJUSTING THE REAR SEAT HEIGHT
To adjust the rear seat height, unscrew
both screws as shown by the two
arrows and install the axle support at
the desired height. See p.11
