Light from the package and place in direct sunlight
for a full day or install early in the morning to ensure
the light is fully charged before installation. Leave
the protective lm on the solar panel until after
installation to prevent scratching during mounting.
The charge indicator light will illuminate red when
the solar charger is receiving sunlight.
Select a location that will receive full sunlight all
day. It is important that the light face the South so
that it receives the most sunlight. If the light is not
facing South, or if the light receives partial sunlight
it may not receive a full charge. If the light does not
receive a full charge it may not work properly and/or
ruin the battery.
If mounting to a feeder, align the mounting bracket
to the very bottom of the feeder, and mark the
screw holes. Use the included self drilling/tapping
screws to attach the bracket to the feeder. NOTE:
Apply some silicone to the mounting screw holes
or across the top of the mounting bracket to avoid
water seepage into the feeder.
Then slide the light onto the mounting bracket
and tighten the locking screws on the back of the
mounting bracket.
If mounting to a tree or post, slide the light onto the
mounting bracket, and tighten the locking screws
on the back of the bracket.
Then use the included screws to attach to the post or
tree. NOTE: Angle the mounting screws downward
to avoid damaging the solar panel with the screw
driver.

Is it important to face the light south?
As with all solar powered products, the amount of sun that shines on the solar
charger greatly aects the performance of the light. The more sun exposure the
light receives, the longer the light will operate. In the northern hemisphere, the
sun’s transit across the sky is south of “high noon”. In fact, the farther north you are
located, the lower the sun’s transit is in the sky.
This means if the light is not oriented south, it will spend some portion of the day
in the shadow of whatever the light is mounted to. This will reduce the amount of
sun exposure the solar charger receives and the light will not receive a full charge.
Is it important to receive full sun exposure all day?
The Sportsman™ light is designed to receive full sun all day. This allows the solar
charger to charge the battery completely. A completely charged battery will
provide the longest runtime during the night. If the light is not receiving full sun
exposure all day, then the expected runtimes will decrease. If you nd that your
Sportsman™ light is not running all night or if it stops activating with motion
during the night, then it most likely not receiving a full charge during the day.
Which mode is best for me?
Mode 1 gives the longest runtime. This is the mode that is recommended if you
have a lot of activity or if your location does not get enough sun. If you would like
the light to be on all night, then Mode 2 will give you the next longest runtime.
If you are having trouble spooking animals when the light comes on suddenly,
Mode 2 and Mode 4 stay on all night at 10% power, the light slowly increases in
brightness when motion is detected. Mode 5 is also helpful if you are trying to
acclimate the animals to the light. This mode will stay on all night at 25% power.
Many hunters report that they can see enough to make a clear shot at 10% and
25% power. More power may not be necessary.
Why does the light not last all night?
The Sportsman™ light utilizes an over-sized battery to store more power than it
needs to function all night. Even the best solar panels will not charge properly
when there is no sun shine. Even with the over-sized battery, a day or two of rainy
or cloudy weather will not charge the light completely. If the activity during the
night does not decrease, the light may not be charged enough to last all night.
This does not mean the light is bad or broken. Once the daytime returns to full
sunshine, the lights will completely charge and resume all night function.
What if my location does not get full sun?
If your location gets partial to no sun, then it is best to use Mode 1; this mode uses
the least amount of power. You may also remove the light from the mounting
bracket and charge the light in full sun, and replace the light when you go to hunt.
