Thank you for purchasing this 42” Plasma Screen Television which has
been designed and manufactured to give you many years of trouble-free
service.
You may already be familiar with using a similar product, but do please
take time to read these instructions - they have been written to ensure you
get the very best from your purchase.

Safety Instructions
WARNING! Ensure that you read all of the safety instructions before
using your Television.
Power Source
This television requires a 230V AC, 50Hz mains supply. Do not use any
other power source.
Safety Considerations
• The television weighs approximately 46.5kg and requires two people to
remove it from the packaging and position it for viewing. Exercise
caution when lifting and moving the television and use safe lifting
techniques.
• Position the power lead, and other connected leads, so that they
are not likely to be walked on, pinched or where items can be
placed on or against them.
• Do not allow the unit to get wet by splashing or dripping.
• During operation the plasma screen can become hot to the touch. Do
not position the television under or close to curtains or similar
furnishings. Do not position near other heat sources such as radiators.
• Do not cover any of the ventilation slots on the unit, as this may cause
the television to overheat. Leave at least 10cm of space above and
below the ventilation slots.
• Never allow children to insert foreign objects into holes or slots on
the television.
Cleaning
• Disconnect the television from the mains supply before cleaning.
• Do not use any liquids or aerosol cleaners, as this may damage
the unit. The television should be cleaned with a soft, damp (not
wet) cloth.
Battery Disposal
• Please ensure that used batteries are disposed of safely.
Servicing
• There are no user servicable parts in your television. When
servicing, refer to qualified service personnel.

Electrical Information
Make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as that
indicated on the rating plate.
This television may be fitted with a non-rewireable plug. If you need to
change the fuse in a non-rewireable plug, the fuse cover must be refitted.
If the fuse cover is lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a
replacement is obtained.
If the plug has to be changed because it is not suitable for you socket,
or it becomes damaged, it should be removed and an appropriate plug
fitted following the wiring instructions below. The waste plug must be
disposed of safely, as insertion into a mains socket is likely to cause an
electrical hazard.
CAUTION! If a 13 amp (BS1363) plug is used, a 5 amp fuse
(BS1362) must be fitted.
If the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance do not
correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your
plug, proceed as follows:
•The blue wire must be
connected to the terminal
marked with the letter Nor
coloured black.
•The brown wire must be
connected to the terminal
marked with the letter Lor
coloured red.
•The green and yellow wire
must be connected to the
earth terminal marked with
the letter Eor the earth symbol as shown in the margin.
This appliance must be earthed.
Ensure that the outer sheath of the cable
is firmly held by the clamp.
Plug should be BS1363/A approved.
Fit a 5 Amp fuse.

Getting started
Remove your Television carefully from the box. You may wish to
store the packaging for future use.
In the box
In the box you will have:
• Television
• Separate carton containing:
•2 speaker units
•2 speaker cables
•4 speaker unit brackets
•16 self tapping screws to mount brackets to the speaker units
•12 bolts to mount the speaker brackets to the television
•Separate carton containing:
•Table stand
•2 mounting brackets
•4 M8 hexagonal head countersunk bolts
•2 M8 roundhead bolts and washers (located on the rear of the TV)
•Hexagonal wrench
• Remote control
• Two AAA batteries
• AC power cord
• PC monitor cable

Locating the television
When deciding on a position for your television consider the following:
• Avoid positions opposite windows or other light sources that may
cause reflections on the screen.
• Maintain at least 10cm of space around the television. Do not position
near curtains or other soft furnishings.
• Proximity of antenna lead and power supply socket. Do not position
cables where they can cause a tripping hazard.
• Do not position near or over radiators or other heat sources.

Assembly
Mounting the television on the stand
1. Remove and identify the parts for the stand (see the illustrations below
and the following pages).
2. Place the stand on a flat surface and fix the two brackets using the four
hexagonal head countersunk bolts as shown below.
3. Place the stand on the surface where the television will be positioned.
You will notice that the brackets are not mounted in the centre of the
stand. Position the stand so that the brackets are furthest from the
front (screen). See the inset illustration on the next page.

4. Loosen the two roundhead bolts and washers on the rear of the
television (see illustration below).
WARNING! The television weighs approximately 46.5 kg. It
requires two people to lift it safely and avoid injury.
4. Lift the television and slide it onto the two stand brackets as shown
below. Make sure that the stand is positioned so that the brackets are
towards the rear of the television, see the inset illustrations below.
5. Ensure that the television is fully seated on the stand and tighten the
two roundhead bolts to fix the stand to the television as shown below.

Mounting the speakers
The speaker units can either be fixed to the television using the brackets
provided or wall mounted.
Fixing to the television
Refer to the illustrations below and on the following page.
1. Remove and identify the
speaker units, brackets,
screws and bolts.
2. Mount the brackets on the
rear of the speaker units
using the 16 self tapping
screws. The screw holes are
pre-drilled. The illustration
opposite shows the brackets
for the left speaker unit
(viewed from the front of the
television). The brackets for
the right speaker unit must
be mounted the other way
round.
3. With the television on its
stand hold the speaker unit
so that the bracket lines up
with the screw holes on the
rear of the television, see
illustration on the next page.
4. Use the twelve bolts to fix the
brackets to the television.
5. Repeat this procedure for the
other speaker unit.
CAUTION! When moving the
television do not lift under
the speaker units. Always lift
the main body of the
television.

Wall mounting
1. Decide where you wish to mount the speaker units making sure that
the cables will reach the television.
2. If mounting on a solid wall, drill and use a wall
plug large enough for a size 8 round head
screw of at least 1.5” in length. If mounting on a
partition wall, locate a stud work member so
that you screw into wood and not the cavity.
3. Screw into the wall leaving approximately 1/8”
of the screw proud.
4. Mount the speaker so that the screw passes
through the mounting hole, then allow the
speaker unit to slide down so that the screw
sits in the mounting slot.

Connecting the speaker cables
The two speaker cables have an RCA connector at one end and the wires
are stripped at the other.
1. Connect the cables to the speaker output RCA connectors on the panel
under the television, see page 6.
2. Connect the bare wires at the other end of the
cable to the appropriate speaker, see opposite.
Push the tab on the speaker connector down,
insert the bare wire into the hole and release
the tab. Connect the red and black wire to the
red connector and the black wire to the black
connector. Do not insert the wires to far, i.e.
make sure that the bare wire is in contact with
the terminals of the speaker connector.
WARNING! Make sure that the cables are not placed where
they can cause a tripping hazard.
Installing the remote control batteries
1. Remove the battery compartment cover.
2. Insert two LR03 (AAA) size batteries (supplied) in
the compartment on the rear of the remote control,
ensure you follow the polarity diagram inside the
compartment.
3. Refit the battery compartment cover.
We recommend the use of Ever
Ready Energizer batteries.

Connecting external equipment
For initial tuning described on pages 17 to 19, connect your external
antenna directly to the television.
Once the tuning process is complete connect your other AV devices.
The illustration below is a suggested method of connecting a video
cassette recorder (VCR), DVD and PC (mains supply cable not shown).
These connections are described on the next page.

Connect the antenna to the RF in on the VCR and the RF out from the
VCR to the television ANTENNA socket. This means that you will be able
to record a programme while watching a different programme.
Connect the VCR Scart to SCART 1 on the television. The the VCR signal
will appear when Scart 1 is selected by pressing the VIDEO button on the
remote control - you do not have to tune the television to the VCR signal.
Connect the DVD scart to SCART 2 on the television. The the DVD signal
will appear when Scart 2 is selected by pressing the VIDEO button on the
remote control.
Connect the PC monitor cable to the PC DVH connector on the television.
The television can then be used as your PC monitor when PC is pressed
on the remote control.
To play the PC sound through the television you will need to obtain a cable
that is compatible with your PC’s audio output and has red and white RCA
plugs on the other end to connect to the red and white PC AUDIO IN RCA
sockets on the television.
Other connections
There are two further sets of inputs that that are available for use by a
digital camera for example. These are CVBS and S-Video.
Composite Video Broadcast Signal, CVBS, uses RCA connectors. The
composite video signal is connected to the yellow CVBS socket and the
audio left and right signal to the CVBS AUDIO IN white and red sockets.
The CVBS signal will appear when CVBS is selected by pressing the
VIDEO button on the remote control.
S-Video has separate luminance (Y) and composite chrominance (C)
components. It connects to the S-VIDEO 5-pin DIN connector and the
audio left and right signals connect to the S-VIDEO AUDIO IN white and
red RCA sockets. The S-Video signal will appear when YC is selected by
pressing the VIDEO button on the remote control.
Audio output
Instead of using the television’s speakers you can connect an audio
decoder. Connect the OUT LINE RCA red and white connectors to the
audio decoder audio right and audio left inputs.

Connecting to the mains and switching on
1. Connect the AC power cord to the AC power socket on the underside of
the television, see page 6.
2. Plug into the mains and switch the socket on.
3. Switch the television on at the power switch on the underside of the
television. The red standby indicator on the front of the television will
light.
4. Press one of the numeric buttons on the remote control. The red
indicator will extinguish and the green power on indicator will light.
5. To switch the television to standby, press the Standby button, , on
the remote control. If the television is going to be left unattended,
switch off the mains switch on the underside of the television.
WARNING! Mains power is still applied to the television when
in the standby mode. Do not leave the television in standby
when it is unattended. If the television is not going to be used
for a long period, disconnect the mains supply.

Tuning UHF programmes
1. Switch the television on as described on the previous page.
2. Press the MENU button. The main menu will appear as shown below
with Inputs highlighted.
3. Press the VOL+ button. The Inputs menu will appear as shown below.
4. If Tuner is displayed on the Select line go to step 7 below. If it is not
use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Select and press the
VOL+ button. The Select will change to green.
5. Use either of the P or P buttons to scroll through the source
options until Tuner is displayed.
6. Press the VOL- button
7. Use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Source Settings and
press VOL+. The tuner menu will be displayed as shown below.

8. If necessary, use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Auto
Search and press VOL+. The auto seach menu will be displayed as
shown below.
9. The television standard used in the UK is PAL I. If the TV Standard is
set to PAL I then go to step 12. If not use either of the P or P
buttons to highlight TV Standard and press the VOL+ button. The TV
Standard will change to green.
10.Use either of the P or P buttons to scroll through the TV standard
options until PAL I is displayed.
11. Press the VOL- button.
12.The search can be set to look for either all programs or just new
programs. Initially you will want to search for all programs. If the Search
Form is set to All Programs go to step 15. If not use either of the P or
Pbuttons to highlight Search Form and press the VOL+ button. The
Search Form will change to green.
13.Use either of the P or P buttons to display All Programs.
14.Press the VOL- button.
The initial search for programs should be from program 01. If
however, you have previously set up some programs, you can start
the search from any program number. This ensures that the
previously set up programs are not overwritten.
15.If the Program Start Point is set to 01 go to step 18. If, however, it is
not, use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Program Start
Point and press the VOL+ button. The Program Start Point will
change to green and the program number will flash.
16.Press 0then 1on the remote control.
17.Press the VOL- button.
18.Use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Start Search and
press VOL+. The seach menu will be displayed as shown on the next
page.

SEARCH IN PROGRESS ... 12% : Abort Search
The progress of the search is shown as a percentage. You can abort the
search at any time by pressing the red button on the remote control.
When a program is found it is allocated to the first available program
number and the search continues. The program names, e.g. BBC-1, ITV
etc, are displayed in the menu. If you are in an area where the signal is
weak the program name may not be recognised. In this case the program
number is displayed, e.g. PR01. You can name the program in the Manual
Search menu, see page 23.
When the search is complete the menu is cleared and the television will
tune to the program placed in program number 01.
Organizing the programs
The auto tuning process stores programs in the order that it finds them.
This may not be the order that you require. For example the programs
may be stored as follows:
PR01 ITV
PR02 BBC-1
PR03 CH4
PR04 BBC-2
PR05 CH5
The order can be changed in the sort menu as follows:
1. Press the MENU button. The main menu will appear.
2. Press the VOL+ button. The Inputs menu will appear.
3. If Tuner is displayed on the Select line go to step 6 below. If it is not
use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Select and press the
VOL+ button. The Select will change to green.
4. Use either of the P or P buttons to scroll through the source
options until Tuner is displayed.

5. Press the VOL- button
6. Use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Source Settings and
press VOL+. The tuner menu will be displayed.
7. Use either of the P or P buttons to highlight Sort and press VOL+.
The sort menu will be displayed as below.
8. The programs are organised using the green, blue and yellow buttons
on the remote control as described on the menu. For example to re-
order as BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4 and CH5 follow the procedure below:
Press VOL+ to highlight BBC-1.
Press the green button to select the program.
Press the VOL- to highlight ITV.
Press the yellow button to swap the position BBC1 and ITV.
Press the VOL+ repeatedly to highlight BBC-2.
Press the green button to select the program.
Press the VOL- to highlight CH4.
Press the yellow button to swap the position BBC2 and CH4.
Press VOL- to highlight ITV.
Press the yellow button to swap the position of BBC2 and ITV.
Press MENU to exit the sort menu.
