• The safe operation of your Granberg Chipper Shredder is now your responsibility as well as the
responsibility of any other person that will operate this machine.
• Please read the entire operating instructions carefully and familiarise yourself with the operation of
the unit before using the machine.
• Granberg Chipper Shredders are designed for processing prunings, branches, leaves, hay, straw,
lucerne, styrene and even cardboard and paper. This Granberg Chipper Shredder may not be used
for other material or processes not described in these operating instructions.
• The operator is responsible for third parties in the working area of the Granberg Chipper Shredder.
Never process material while persons, particularly children, or animals are within the danger zone
of the machine (i.e. within 6 metres or 20').
• Persons under 16 years of age should not operate the machine.
• Ensure that anybody that operates this machine at any time is familiar with the operation and safety
features of the unit.
Protective Clothing & Equipment
• Appropriate protective clothing should be worn at all times when working with the Granberg Chipper
Shredder. This includes leather gloves, work shoes with non-slip soles, close-fitting work clothes.
• Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry and tie back hair that may get caught in rotating parts.
• Eye and ear protection must also be worn at all times.
Operating Precautions
• Do not place hands, feet or loose clothing in hopper inlets, discharge outlets, or near any moving
parts.
• Never operate this machine with the top rubber flap removed or with damaged or missing rubber
flap fingers, as this may result in personal injury.
• Do not attempt to clean out the inlet chutes (top chute/chipper chute) or the discharge area while
the unit is operating.
If you must clean or clear the machine:
(a) Turn the engine OFF.
(b) Wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop.
(c) Disconnect spark plug lead from spark plug.
(d) Wear hand protection (eg leather gloves) before inserting
hand in chamber or chutes.
• Under no circumstances operate this machine in an enclosed area. Although Carbon Monoxide is
colourless, odourless and tasteless, it is lethal.
• Never operate this machine with safety covers unfastened or removed. Always ensure that the
draw pins are in place and secured with the nyloc nuts.
• Avoid operating this machine on a paved, concrete or gravel surface as debris may deflect from the
hard surface and result in personal injury.
• This product is equipped with an internal combustion type engine. DO NOT use unit on or near any
unimproved, forest-covered or brush covered land unless exhaust system is equipped with a spark
arrester meeting applicable local, state or federal laws. Fitment of an approved Spark Arrestor for a
particular area is at cost of, and is the responsibility of the operator A spark arrester, if it is used,
must be maintained in effective working order by operator.
• When feeding material into the Granberg Chipper Shredder, ensure that no foreign bodies such as
rocks, screenings, garden tools, stakes or metal parts reach the shredding chamber, as this may
result in damage to the machine and/or injury to the operator. Avoid material accumulating around
discharge chutes for the same reason, as material may "fly back" at the operator through the feed
chutes.

GRANBERG GARDEN PRO OPERATORS MANUAL PAGE 5
• Before leaving or transporting the machine, ensure that the engine is turned off and that all moving
parts have come to a complete stop as the shredder drum will continue to rotate for up to 30
seconds after the engine has been turned off.
• Turn off the engine:
- Before clearing blockages or eliminating clogging in the discharge chute.
- If excessive vibration is evident.
- Before refuelling, cleaning, checking, opening the discharge chute, changing the chipper screen or
performing maintenance of any kind.
• The chipper blade and flails should be checked regularly for wear, damage and secure mounting.
Ensure that all screws and bolts are always firmly tightened.
• Do not operate this machine with worn or damaged blades, or with a loose drive belt.
• Know your controls and learn how to stop the engine quickly in an emergency!
Safety Labels
• Please observe all safety and warning labels as they are designed for your protection and for the
protection of the machine.
• Failure to observe these safety labels may cause serious injury to the operator, bystanders or to the
machine.
• Danger and warning labels that have become illegible must be replaced. Your authorised Allpower
Servicing Dealer can supply replacement labels.
Maintenance
• Before attempting any maintenance on this machine, ensure the engine is switched OFF, all
moving parts have come to a complete stop and the spark plug lead is disconnected from the spark
plug.
• Allow the engine to cool down if maintenance, refueling, oil change or top-up is required.
• Do not change the basic setting of, or over-rev the engine. Excessive speed can cause personal
injury, damage to the machine and will void the Warranty.
• If parts or safety guards have been removed for maintenance work, ensure that these are
remounted and secure before the next use.
• Use only genuine Granberg replacement parts. Use of non-genuine or modified components may
cause personal injury or damage to the machine.
• Only carry out maintenance work described in these operating instructions. Contact your authorised
Allpower Servicing Dealer for all other work.
WARNING! Petrol is highly flammable!
• Store petrol only in a container intended for this purpose. Store petrol in a cool, dry place away
from sources of flames or sparks (eg hot water systems, grinding equipment, barbeques).
• Refuel the engine only in a well-ventilated area. Do not smoke whilst refuelling.
• The fuel tank should be filled with petrol before starting the engine. The fuel cap must not be
opened or petrol added with the engine running or when the machine is hot.
• If petrol has been spilled, do not attempt to start engine. Remove the machine from petrol soaked
area and ensure that all liquid and fumes have been wiped dry or evaporated before attempting to
start the engine.
• Allow the engine to cool before storing the Granberg Chipper Shredder in closed rooms, refuelling
or performing maintenance.
• In order to avoid the risk of fire, ensure that the engine (particularly cooling fins and exhaust
system) are kept free of grass, leaves, debris, or engine oil.
• Replace damaged mufflers immediately.

WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Read
and understand the entire Safety
section before proceeding.
CAUTION: Read the Engine Manufacturers
Operators Manual for detailed starting
instructions
1. Fill the engine with fuel and oil as per the engine manufacturer's instructions.
2. Disengage the drive belt by pushing the idler bar in and down until the bar notch is locked into the
disengage position against the engine plate.
3. Start the engine in accordance with the engine manufacturer's instructions.
4. Allow the engine to warm up for several minutes.
5. Run the engine at maximum throttle setting.
6. NB. Some models may have a fixed throttle. Please refer to the engine
manual for the configuration of your machine.
WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Read
and understand the entire Safety
section before proceeding.
1. Engage the chipper/shredder drive system with a slight inward and upward movement of the idler
bar, releasing it slowly outward until it is fully engaged against the belt.
2. Place the material to be processed into the top feed chute for shredding, or into the side feed chute
for chipping.
3. Best performance and results are obtained by feeding in small amounts of material often.
Processing speed depends on the material.
4. Limit material placed in the top feed chute to a diameter of 19mm (3/4") and 75mm (3") through the
side feed chute.
5. Do not force material into or overfill the chutes. Let the machine do the work.
6. Forcing material through the machine will accelerate wear on the engine and shredding system.
7. At the conclusion of any work session, finish by feeding through dry branch material. This helps
clean out the shredding chamber and removes any gum or resin build-up on the blades.
1. Do not turn off the engine until the Granberg Chipper Shredder is completely empty.
2. Adjust the throttle control to the slow position.
3. Switch the engine off.
4. Allow all moving parts to come to a complete stop before transporting or storing the unit.
