This book constitutes User’s Handbook of the machine specified below and it is
compiled in accordance with the EEC Directive 2006/42/CE, Attachment 1,
paragraph 1.7.4.and subsequent amendments.
Each single machine is dotated with a CE dataplate and a CE Evidence of
Conformity realized in accordance with the EEC-Directive 2006/42/CE and
subsequent amendments.

HOW TO USEAND PRESERVE THIS USER'S HANDBOOK
SAFETY WARNING
- This User's Handbook intends to be a sound reference and working tool to those
who will use our bioshredder BC 260; it includes some practical guidelines on
how to use the machine according to its design principles and technical
features as well as to move, install, assemble, adjust and use it correctly. Besides
this, Handbook includes a few hints on your personnel's training and suggests
how to service your machine, how to order spare parts easily and avoid a risk of
damages or injury.
- This Handbook has to be considered an integral part of the machine supply
volume and it should be carefully preserved for any future reference during the
machine operating life time.
- This Handbook should be kept in an easily accessible place, near the machine,
to allow the personnel to promptly find and consult it, and should be put in a dry
place, sheltered from the sunlight.
- In case of loss, a copy of this Handbook may be requested from the machine
manufacturer specifying the machine model and Series Number.
- This Handbook reflects the technical engineering level reached at the time of
machine delivery and it has to be considered as corresponding to the state of the
art even if some further revisions are to be applied later for the sake of adaptation
to the latest know-how.
- Green Technik reserves the right to update their products and Handbooks,
without being obliged to retrofit or revise their previously delivered products
and Handbooks.
In order to insure highest working reliability, Green Technik carried out a careful
selection of materials and components to be used for the manufacture of this
bioshredder-chipper. Careful inspection and tests were performed before machine’s
delivery to a customer. The good operation of a machine in the long run depends also
on its correct use as well as on a suitable preventive maintenance carried out in
conformity with the directions given in this Handbook.
All the machine structural components, connecting members and controls have
been designed and manufactured with a high level of safety in order to resist
anomalous stresses, even higher than specified in this Handbook. The high-grade
materials used on the machine are the best assurance for absence of damages,
deteriorations or malfunctions.
However, we would like to remind you the following:

While thanking you for your trust in our products, our BIOSHREDDER-CHIPPER
BC-260 in particular, we would remind you that use of this machine is representative
of a life style, where the environment protection is a basic principle and the
recycling practice takes a place of an indiscriminate disposal of waste.
Every day large quantities and many kinds of waste are produced, as kitchen
garbage, trimmings from the garden, packages and mowed lawn. These materials
have to be properly sorted and chipped in order to turn them into precious organic
material.
To get good compost, only suitable materials have to be used, namely:
- waste from the garden, wild plants and infesting weeds;
- cooking waste, cardboard and unprinted paper;
- small and light wooden boxes free from nails;
- leaves, remainders from mowing of the lawn, and trimmings.
Before chipping the trimmings, separate the small branches from the main trunk:
these small branches may be easily put into the upper mouth (SHREDDER), while
the stronger branches have to be inserted into the side mouth (CHIPPER), by slightly
pushing them towards the rotor.
Avoid triturating unsuitable materials as plastics or printed-paper. The triturating
of paper, cardboard and leaves gets easier by wetting them previously.
An excessive humidity of wooden materials and leaves could produce clots in the
ejected material and cause the machine cloggage.
To help the micro-organisms in their decomposition function, alternate the
different kinds of material put into the shredding hopper, e.g. wood and lawn, paper
and trimmings, cooking waste and earth, dry leaves and green branches.
This procedure will allow you to get a homogeneous compound while the
presence of small pieces of branch and wood of different size will allow the compost
to keep aired, without getting mouldy.
The bioshredder-chipper is intended to operate outdoors; obviously, avoid using the
machine and store it in a suitable and sheltered place in case of bad weather
conditions .

PROHIBITED CONDITIONS OF USE
Working materials other than specified in this Handbook could arise serious
damages to your machine and risks of injury to the operator. Besides this, it is strictly
prohibited to put into machine materials like: ballast and rock pieces, section irons,
glass, plastic materials, parts of wooden boxes with nails or iron wires left therein,
trunks and/or branches having diameter higher than shown on the transfer attached
close to the month of loading hoppers.
This machine has been designed and manufactured to be utilized on flat
surfaces, compact and level as much as possible; therefore, avoid to work on steep
slopes, friable or damp grounds or however under any condition which could cause
the machine to tilt during the operation or susceptible to be prejudicial to its stability.
Whenever the machine has to be moved, the engine must be compulsorily switched
off or, in case the machine is power supplied, the main cable must be plugged out,
afterwards wait until all the machine moving parts stand still.
The same is when the machine has to be tilted or lifted for cleaning or adjusting
purposes or to release any rotating element which got jammed on the machine.
Furthermore, it is strictly prohibited to open the door placed near the discharge outlet
of the shredder, to visually check for no material inside, until the machine is quite still.
To prevent the operator from getting in touch with any moving element of the
machine, some fixed or movable safety guards have been installed, and the upper
and side loading hoppers are such in length as to avoid hands approaching to the
rotating parts.

PERSONNELTRAINING
GENERAL REMARKS
This machine has been designed and manufactured for amateur and semi-
professional utilization; however, the machine should not be operated by people
aged less than 18 years.
Should the user detect any operation problem, malfunction or however a
condition that might be dangerous for himself or other people, he must immediately
stop the machine by pressing the stop push-button placed beside the engine, and
avoid to carry out any intervention out of his competence, then promptly inform his
director or the Green Technik's service center.
An operator should do his utmost to keep the machine clean and in fully working
condition.
To this purpose, the machine should be carefully cleaned after every working run;
cleaning must be carried out when machine is still and stable and possibly in co-
operation with an assistant.
When for cleaning it is used pressurized air or water, an operator must wear
safety goggles and a safety faceplate and to be sure that nobody stands near the
machine in order to avoid running the risk to affect another person by jets of materials
or dust. To prevent the hammer assembly from oxidizing during long times of
inactivity, we recommend to carefully lubricate its parts with oil or other oxidation
inhibitors.
The use of flammable fluids during the cleaning operations is prohibited.
From time to time check the state of labels and replace them, when required.
Should this be the case, promptly call for a service man, unless the
detected trouble can be directly obviated, or inform the Green Technik Service
Center.
Once the machine cleaning is complete, check for no worn, damaged or
lost parts.

INFORMATION ABOUT POSSIBLE HAZARDS
Special attention should be paid to the serviceability of the power connecting
cable as well as of other perishable parts installed on the machine. Check for no
leakage of oil, fuel or other dangerous substances .
Should this be the case, an operator must absolutely avoid to start the machine
until the problem is resolved.
Furthermore, any loose object that is not integral to the machine (as tools left on
the ground after servicing, personal objects, gasoline can used to fill up the petrol
tank, etc...) must be removed from the machine or its surrounding area.
An operator, his assistant and a maintenance man shall wear the following:
a) Safety goggles and faceplates to protect from splinters; when working in
the presence of a dense dust, wearing suitable masks is recommended.
b) Safety gloves.
c) Ear protectors (sound-proofing ear-plugs).
Besides, they must wear suitable working cloths, free from flying parts, and avoid
to wear jewels (chains or bracelets) or other things which could be pinched in the
machine moving elements; long haired people must wear suitable hair-nets to
prevent entanglement.
Before starting work, check that your machine is standing stable, loading
hoppers are free from material and the ejecting mouth has been adjusted and so
that no person possibly passing near the machine could be hit on.
No safety device or guard must be removed from the machine unless it is
absolutely required for repairing and/or servicing purposes.
Safeties must be immediately replaced as soon as there is a reasons for their
replacement, however, always before starting your machine up.
Every 10 hours of work, check that the locking bolts, loading hoppers, enclosures
and guarding plates are tightened; tighten them promptly, if required.
Never leave your machine running without watching it over; any displacement
must be carried out only when machine is still and after awaiting that all of the
machine rotating parts are quite still.

In case the machine is driven by an explosion engine, always check the level of
oil and fuel before starting it up, and carry out all the steps listed in the Use and
Maintenance Handbook, as specified under Section C of this Manual.
When checking the fuel level and during the tank filling up, do not smoke and do not
light a fire.
This type of machines should not be used in closed spaces to prevent intoxication
of a machine operator or other people in the room.

Warning:
Before proceeding to this section an operator should carefully read the information
given in the SECTION A that is integral part of the User's Handbook and
understanding of which is essential for SAFE machine use.
This machine consists essentiallyof asteel structural base holding the chipping
disk and the shaft fitted with shredding hammers. The following elements are
housed inthe machine base:explosion or diesel engine,the SHREDDER's front
hopper and the CHIPPER's side hopper.
The shredder hopper is equipped with a feeder unit, constituted by a toothed roller,
placed near the loading mouth and hydraulically operated, incorporates two
functions, i.e.: a) insure an even feeding of the material to be treated; b) avoid the
ejection of the treated material out of the loading hopper, thus allowing to work in
safety.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
When working over branches, roots, turfs and leaves it is highly recommended to
pay attention to avoid entering of stones or other extraneous subjects which could
speed up the wear of the shredding blades/hammers into the machine. Therefore,
it is recommended not to carry out the loading operations on pebby grounds.

The machine is easily transfered to/from the working place by means of its truck
equipped with low-speed towing eye and 2 wedges used in order to have the
machine steady during the utilization. Once positioning is complete, clamp the
machine again by means of the proper pin fitted with handle.
COMMANDSAND STOPS
As the bioshredder BC-260 carries out its mincing function owing to the movement
transmitted by its explosion or diesel engine (depending on the equipment), an
operator must be quite familiar with the steps to be performed in order to start or
arrest the machine.
All the instructions regarding explosion or diesel engine can be found in the Section
C of this Manual related to utilization of explosion or diesel engines.
CAUTION
After machine stops, the inside moving elements keep on running on by
inertia for 30 seconds before getting quite still. For this reason, carrying out
any cleaning, maintenance, adjuscting and/or moving operation is
prohibited until the above mentioned time has elapsed.

The bioshredder mod. BC 260 is a machine for professional use but, owing to its
simplicity in use and control, it may be operated by anyone informed of the risks that
might be run during the utilization; therefore, we strongly recommend to forbid the
use of these machines to either under-age people or those not properly trained or
those who have not read previously all the instructions included in this Handbook.
- make sure the ground where the shredder is to be placed is firm, not friable or
steep, but suitable to insure a stable positioning of the machine during the work;
- check for no debris, branches or any other kind of material left in the hopper or in
the chipping device;
- check level of hydraulic oil in the tank through the transparent sight glass and top
it up, if required.
Before the utilization:
- check that the electrical cable is perfectly complete and insert the pin into the
closest electric plug according to your machine’s location;
- wear personal safety means, as required (ear-plugs, safety goggles or
faceplates, safety gloves and also suitable masks to be protected when the working
premise is particularly dusty);
- turn on the green push button to start your bioshredder;
- before working on any type of material, attend at least 30 seconds to permit your
machine to reach the standart speed of rotation
For the machine version with electric engine:
when all the moving parts of the machine are quite still, make sure that no unworked
material is left in upper or side hopper; pull it off by hand if required or start the
machine again and use the suitable comb until the whole material has been
processed and hoppers are empty;
- pull out the pin from the plug and amass the electrical cable;
- release the wheels and store the machine after cleaning it carefully.
CAUTION
Non-compliance with these instructions could arise jamming or
serious damages to your bioshredder.

MACHINE HANDLING
Before starting the machine handling, make sure that no electric connection is
being carried out; as to the powered machines, check that all the filler plugs are
screwed tight. This inspection has to be performed whenever machine has to be
moved, in particular, when it is to be moved on steeply sloping grounds, uneven
surfaces or where wheels risk to sink into the mud.
When the machine is being moved on sloping grounds it is recommended to stay
over the machine. This machine has been designed to be trailed with a help of
tractors, accompanied by operator-user and with all its rotating parts still.
IMPORTANT
Considering the typology of this machine and its working conditions, special
attention must be paid to cleaning of air filter as well as of all the engine
elements subject to cloggage (as radiator, cylinder fins). Cleaning has to be
carried out with a frequency corresponding to the frequency of usage and it
must be such as to always have a motor running in full working order.
CAUTION
It is strictly prohibited to trail your machine by means of
motor vehicles not aranged for trailing works.

Warning:
Before any servicing operation it is obligatory for an operator to put the machine in an
idle condition in order to avoid starting of machine against his consent (e.g.,by
unplugging the machine).
This is the only way to get the absolute certainty that the machine cannot be
inadvertently started so that creating danger for maintenance personnel.
A maintenance man must be informed of the functions and movements of every part
of the machine. In case of doubts, please refer to SECTIONS A, B, C of this
Handbook; besides, an operator shall pay attention to all the warning signs and
plates affixed to the machine.
Maintenance operations:
- when cleaning it is prohibited to spill any remaining fluids or cleaning products on
the ground; the fluids must be collected in suitable containers, then poured into
suitable tanks for disposal according to the regulations in force;
- all the maintenance and lubrication operations must be carried out strictly
complying with the instructions included in this Handbook.
- below is a list of some ordinary maintenance operations an operator may carry
out being provided with the equipment required and a knowledge of the servicing
technique.
- to replace blades, hammer and a chipper blade (see the page 19/20)
- with a frequency proportionated to utilization, check that the locking bolts are
tightened in the two side supports of the hammer rotor.

- periodically check tension of driving belt, after removing the protection case. If it
is necessary to stretch belt, act as it is indicated the next page.
Before proceeding to this section an operator should carefully read
the information given in the SECTIONA that is integral part of the
User's Handbook and understanding of which is essential for
SAFE machine use.

hammers during long times of inactivity, spray the mechanism with
lubricating oil.

- Clean the machine carefully, both inside and outside. Mud causes moisture
and moisture rust. When cleaning by means of high pressure washer, avoid to
direct the jet towards engine and bearings.
- Loosen the V-belt and change it in case of wear.
- Store the machine in a sheltered place, with brake engaged.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Cause - The loaded material has volume and slump unsuitable to the actual
capacity of the machine.
- Reduce the volume of the loaded material.
Cause - Hammers or blades might be worn out.
- Replace hammers following the instructions the next page.
Cause- Chipper blade to be sharpened or changed.
- Sharpen or change the blade with an original part following the
instructions.
Winter storage
The loaded material enters with difficulty and cloggage takes place often.
The material entered through the chipper seems to resist the inlet.

STRETCHING AND REPLACEMENT OF BELTS:
For stretching belts act as following:
a) remove belts cover to have an access to the belts and a possibility to control
the tension
b) loosen with a help of a suitable spanner
d) tighten up till the end the 4 bolts “A” previously loosened and restore
protecting case.

c) screw the bolt “B” until the right tention of the belts is reached

d) take out and replace the belts using original spare parts
d) stretch the belts following the instructions given in the previous paragraph.

REPLACEMENT OF HAMMERS
REVERSAL OR REPLACEMENT OF SHREDDER BLADES
For replacement of hammers act as following:
a) turn over unloading duct after putting back relative bolts
b) remove the plastic cover “C” at the side of hydraulic pump
c) remove belts cover
d) rotate manually the rotor so that bringing one axle of blade and then another one
close to the unloading duct and pull off elastic pin that blocks the axle
e) using a hole on the belts’ side door and with a help of dowel and a hammer make
axels come out from the opposite side so that liberating the hammers
f) replace hammers following its order and alternation
g) restore the pins of fixation and the original safety guards.

For replacement of blades act as following:
a) turn over unloading duct after having removed relative bolts
b) by means of a hexagon spanner remove the fixation screws of blades previously
liberating hollow hexagonal from possible deposits of materials. Then, having the
spanner inserted , settle it well with a slight blow of a hammer, after which unscrew
strongly the bolts

CAUTION
