Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the External USB 4x4x6 CD ReWritable
drive. We are sure that you will enjoy this product in the years to come. This
product is a high performance USB interface CD-RW drive with 6X (read), 4X
(write) and 4X (re-write).
The bundled CD-RW mastering software gives you the ability to archive,
distribute or create your own CD’s (CD-ROM/XA), CD Bridge, Multi-session
CD, CD-I, and CD-DA from your computer’s desktop.
The drive can automatically recognize the media placed in the drive, whether
a CD, a CD-R or a CD-RW disc. The application included allows you to read
and pre-master CD-R or CD-RW discs, plus file system (drag and drop) for
archiving, data interchange and back up, on both CD-R and CD-RW discs.
User friendliness is further enhanced as this drive can be used as a PnP (Plug
and Play) CD-ROM drive for all PC operating systems, such as Windows
98/Me/2000. You can use the two quick select buttons to manually control
music CDs without running any software programs.
The CD-RW drive, supporting all writing modes, extends operational
versatility and CD formats (CD-DA, CD-ROM etc., include CD-UDF as
standardized by OSTA). Furthermore, the erase function is supported for CD-
RW discs allowing repetitive use.

• Pentium 233 Mhz or higher with built-in USB controller. (Some USB
controllers or motherboards may not support all types of USB devices.)

• 50MB free hard drive space for installing software. 750MB of free hard
drive space is needed when duplicating a CD through HD (10 MB of

1. Headphones Jack: Attach headphones or self-amplified speakers.
2. Volume Controller: Adjusts headphone volume level.
3. Writing Indicator: Lights up while data is being written to or erased
from the disc. Please refer to the chart below for detailed status
description.
4. Disc In indicator: Lights up while data is being read from the disc;
flashes during seek operation. Please refer to the chart below for detailed
status description.
5. Play/Skip Button: Play audio CD and skips one track forward if press
again.
6. Open/Close Button: Open and close for disc loading and removal.

Rear View
1. Audio Output Connector: Provides an alternative option other than
the headphone on the front panel. Suitable for the connection of self-
amplified speaker.
2. Digital Audio Output Connector: Offers high quality audio effect by
outputting digital signal to D/A converter.
3. USB Interface Connector: Connects the CD-RW drive to the USB
cable.

Hardware Installation
Check to make sure you have at lease one available USB port on your
computer. Also check that the power plug is suitable with the power outlet in
your office or home.
Note: Some USB hubs may not be able to detect the CDRW
drive. In which case, you will have to connect the USB cable
directly to the USB port of your computer system.
1 Power on your computer. Wait until Windows has fully loaded.
2 Connect the AC adaptor to the CD-ReWritable drive and the power
outlet
3 Turn on the power. The power indicator should turn on at this time.

4 Connect the CD-ReWritable drive to the PC’s USB slot with the USB
cable.

Your computer system will automatically detect the presence of your
new CD-ReWritable drive. Proceed to the Software Installation
procedure for your operating system.
Note: This CD ReWritable drive must be horizontally
installed and operated.

Driver Installation
Windows 98
1 Power on your computer and wait until Windows has fully loaded.
2 Power on your CD-RW drive FIRST, and then plug the USB cable from
the back of the CD-RW drive into your computer’s USB port.
3 Your computer should find the new hardware and bring up the “Add
New Hardware Wizard” window. Press the “Next” button.

4 Select the “Search for best drive” option and press the “Next”
button.

Put a check box on “Specify a location”, and uncheck everything
else. Then hit the “Browse” button and select “A:\Win98&2000”
where A is your floppy drive letter. Then press the “Next” button.

6 Press “Next” after it has found your new hardware drivers.
7 Press “Finish” to complete your new hardware driver installation.
8 You should now see a new drive letter under “My Computer”.

the back of the CD-RW drive into your computer’s USB port.
