McWill GAMEBOY COLOR User manual

ATTENTION ! Installing the LCD replacement is at your own risk! Your GAMEBOY COLOR could be
damaged if you are not able to do this modification! Liability impossible!
Required materials:
GBC mod kit, small oscillator (included) and 3 small wires about max. 5 cm (2 inches) length
Optional materials:
6 pin connector for VGA connection and SPST switch for output selection
ATTENTION !
The maximum temperature of the soldering iron is 280°C / 540°F and should
not exceeded. Otherwise the solder pads of the GBC mod kit will be damaged!
Solder PIN 1 and PIN 4 (VCC) to the GBC mainboard at the upper pad of
C28 (see below). PIN 2 is ground (GND) and can be soldered directly to the
GND of the GBC mainboard (see below).

fter that, insert the LCD ribbon to the GBC mainboard and solder PIN 3
to the upper right pad of the GBC mod kit.

the case near the power

Optional VGA out feature
If you want to connect your GAMEBOY COLOR to a monitor or FlatTV, solder 5 wires in th
e
V
GA area (H + V + RGB) of the GBC mod kit to a suitable connector, and solder also 1 wire from GND
of the GBC mainboard to the connector.
To select between internal LCD or VGA output, connect a switch at the lower right pad of the
GBC mod kit:

(logic '1') is internal LCD and GND (logic '0') is VGA.
