KYTechnology
Human ears are capable of hearing sound within a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz. But in actuality,
lowfrequencysoundisrarelyaudible,especiallybelow100Hz,andthereforemostoftheinformationin
thelowfrequencyrangeislosttothehumanear.Whichiswhymosttelevisionssounddull,shallowand
far away from the actual sound. KY technology is the result of extensive research by the sound
engineersatfrequencyrange,whichwouldotherwisehavebeenlost,andthenbooststheinformation
to a level where the complete sound enters the audible range. KY achieves this with intelligent
integrationoftheSoundSeparationIC,AudioAmplifier,SpeakersandSpecialSpeakerEnclosures.
SoundSeparationIC
This is the heart of KY, wherein the audio information received by the television is separated on the
basisoffrequencyrangeandthenaccordinglyfedintodifferentsetsofspeakers.
AudioAmplifier
The low frequencies of sound require special amplification to bring them to an audible level. A very
high-powered amplifier performs this task by boosting the low frequencies in the audio range to
sufficientlyhighSPL(SoundPressureLevel)toensurethatyoudonotmisseventhefaintesttaponthe
smallestdrumfromyourfavoritesong.
Speakers
Inconventionalmusicsystems largespeakersreproducethelowfrequencysoundbut thesameisnot
possible in televisions because of limitations related to size and aesthetics of the television. KY
technologyovercomesthisbarrierbyusingsmallbutverypowerfulspeakerswithlargemagnetstogive
yousoundasclosetothenaturallysoundaspossible.
SpecialEnclosureforspeakers
Toenhancethelowfrequencysound,aspeciallydesignedenclosureisusedtohouseasetofspeakers.
Thecorrectvolumeofairismaintainedinsidetheenclosure,whichrestrictsthebackwardmovementof
the speaker diaphragm, thus eliminating the reproduction of unwanted frequencies. This calls for
specialcare in designingthe enclosure sincethe right volumeonly can producethis effect. But even
thesoundwavesproducedbythisrecoiling effectareutilizedefficientlythroughaTunedPort,aresult
ofextensiveresearchonthetravelpatternofsoundwaves,whichcollectsthereflectedsoundwaves
insidethisenclosureandutilizesthemtogiveanadditiveeffecttotheentiresoundspectrum.

!
The Bass Blaster unit is packaged
separately. Before you use the TV,
mount the Bass Blaster Unit
correctly on the TV as shown below:
Fit the mounting slots of the Bass
Blaster unit with the mounting pins
on top of the TV.
Firmly insert the Bass Blaster unit
connector into the corresponding
terminal provided at the rear of the
TV.
Connecting the Aerial / Cable and External Device
Place your TV on a flat surface, with
atleast half a foot separating it from
the nearest wall. Insert the 'mains'
plug into the appropriate source.
As shown above, connect the
antenna cable to the socket (s)
using a balun transformer attached
to the cable end. You can connect a
VCR / VCD / LD / DVD player to your
TV as shown above.
Note: 1. RF cord of video can also be
connected to socket (s). 2. Switch off TV
before connecting the antenna input.
3. Before connecting any external inputs to
your TV, switch off the TV.

Inserting Batteries into the Remote Control.
Correctly insert two AA/R6/UM-3 dry
cell batteries, observing the (+) and (-)
polarities. Do not use a combination of
old and new batteries or two different
types of batteries. If the remote
controls operates erratically,
replace batteries with a new set.

ONIDA TV provides a rich theatre-
like experience with all the power
and performance of multi-speaker
surround sound without adding extra
speakers. This television incorporates
a newly Developed high-quality
surround audio processor that
provides an incredible audio filed
which envelops you completely. Like
live performances, you can move
around the room upto an angle of
180 and still continue to feel
immersed in the surround sound. This
is not possible in conventional
televisions as the coverage area for

surround sound becomes limited to a
very narrow angle.
Note: In order to service your TV through the
remote control, numeric keys have been
assigned more functions apart from their
normal operation. If you press numeric keys on
the remote control for long time, you may get a
display of service menu. This is not a
malfunction. Press Disp button on your remote
control to get back to your normal viewing.

4. LCD Remote Features LCD Remote Features
!Favorite feature allows user to
store programs of his choice in
favorite list. The Favourite feature
has five user options and each user
can store maximum of 10 programs.
Favorite
!Press FAV key. Now you are in
FAVORITE mode.
!Press / key to change/select
USER from 1 to 5.
To Select / Change User

!Follow the process mentioned above
to change/select USER from 1 to 5
!Press / key to switch between
your Favourite list which can store
maximum of 10 programs. Now
select a number from 1 to 10 where
you want to store Favourite program.
!Press FAV again to give program
name to your favourite programs.
First character in the program name
will be highlighted. Use
alphanumeric keys to assign the
program name. Each alphanumeric
key has been assigned more than
one alphabet (written on top of the
key). Press repeatedly the same key
and select alphabet of your choice.
This is similar to writing SMS in
!mobile phone. Press / to
change/overwrite the name.
Program name is the name by which
you want to identify your Favorite
program.
For. e.g Star, ZEE TV
!Use key to store the channel
number. The channel number is the
program number that appears on
your TV If you are storing channel
numbers from 1 ... 9 then store as 001
... 009.
!Press OK/MENU.
!Repeat above steps to store 10
programs for every user.
!Press DISP/Cancel to come out of
FAV mode.

!Press FAV key. Now you are in
FAVORITE mode.
!Press / key to change/select

from 1 to 10, that you want to watch.

!Press SHIFT key.
!Press OK/MENU key. Bell will be
highlighted on the LCD display.

!Set time by using numeric keys.
When that time gets over, ALARM
in your remote control will start
ringing. To stop the ring, press any
key on the remote.
!Press DISP/Cancel to come out
of ALARM mode.
Note: Set TIME before setting ALARM (Refer
Page 11)

To Set Year And Date
Channel scheduler allows user to
store alarms/reminder on particular
date and time so that he/she doesn't
miss those programs. On that
particular date and time alarm on your
remote will start ringing. Program
name and channel number will be
displayed on the screen.
!Press SHIFT key and Press
OK/MENU key.
!Press / key and select
!Press / and select user level
from 1 to 5 and press OK/MENU.
!Use alphanumeric key to enter the
program name. Program name is
the name by which you want to
identify your Alarm/Favorite
program. For e.g Star, ZEE TV.
!Press key and enter channel
number using numeric key.
!Press numeric key to enter date
and month and press OK/MENU.
!Press numeric key to enter time in
hours and minutes and press OK.
Now you have successfully stored
one alarm. You can store maximum
of 5 alarms. ALARM will start
ringing when the time set gets over.
!To store other alarms follow
above steps.
Time
!To come out of CH. SCHEDULER,
press DISP/CANCEL key
This will set time in your LCD remote.
!Press SHIFT key.
!Press OK/MENU key.
!Press / key and select
!Press OK/MENU key.
!Press Numeric key to select TIME
and Press OK/MENU.
!Press CANCEL/DISPLAY
!TIME set by you will appear on the
LCD display
NOTE:
!Keys on your remote have been given dual
functions. When you are in normal mode key
functions written on top of the keys will be
operational. When you press SHIFT key
SHIFT will be displayed on LCD display in this
mode the functions written adjacent to the
keys will be operational.
!Favorite, Clock, Ch. Scheduler and Timer /
Alarm features in your LCD remote are
different as compared to your TV features.
!Your LCD remote has a digital clock which
may drift by a few minutes over a period of
time. Such a drift is normal and does not
mean that the clock is malfunctioning.
!When you press FAV button, you are in FAV
mode. In this mode you won't be able to
operate any other keys on your remote.
Please press DISP/C key to come out of this
mode.

Turning your TV On.
gPress the Main power button on
the TV to turn main power on. The
power lamp on the front panel
glows.
gIf image does not appear on the
screen, your TV is in standby
mode. Press the power button on
the remote control or channel /
(or channel + / - ) or any of the
numeric keys to switch the TV on.
gTo switch the TV off, press the
power button on the remote
control. The TV is switched to
standby mode. To turn the TV’s
main power off, press the main
power button on the TV. The
power indicator lamp stops
glowing, indicating that power has
been turned off.

Note: First set "PASSWORD" and then make
HOTEL MODE on.
gCHANNEL MANAGER
Channel Manager allows user to
delete, insert or skip particular
channel.
!Press menu repeatedly and select
FEATURES PG2.
!Press / key and select CH.
MANAGER.
!Press / key to enter into the
CH.MANAGER.
gINSERT AT
While at this option, purch in a
gFINE TUNING
If the picture even after auto / search
tuning is not clear, use the 'FINE
TUNE' function in the 'INSTALL' sub
menu.
!In 'INSTALL' submenu, and select
FINE TUNE using / keys.
!To fine tune the TV station press
/ so that the best image is
displayed on the screen or enter
channel frequency by digit keys.
gPASSWORD
It is used in HOTEL MODE and CHILD
SAFE.
To set the password, enter the
numbers from 0 to 9.
gHOTEL MODE
Enabling this feature will freeze the
volume at the value it exists, tuning
control turns inaccessible. If you try
to increase the volume above the
value at which it was frozen, the
screen will show that HOTEL MODE
is on. And hence you won't be able
to increase the volume.
!Press menu repeatedly and select
FEATURES PG2.
!Press / key and select HOTEL

Searching For
& Storing TV Channels
To view a TV program, you must first
store TV stations channels on the TV.
To do so, you can choose any of the
two functions - Auto (Automatic) and
by Search (manual).
gAUTO
You can automatically store all TV
stations to channels on your TV by
one simple operation.
!Press 'MENU' repeatedly and
select INSTALL or press MENU
once and select 'INSTALL' by
pressing / keys. 'INSTALL' is
highlighted.
!Press / select the INSTALL
submenu.
!Select 'AUTO TUNE' (Fig 5.1) by
pressing / keys. To start auto
tuning, press keys.
!Changing channel numbers and
frequencies appear on screen to
indicate the progress of the tuning
process.
Note: To stop Auto Tuning press DISP or
Menu key on remote.
gSEARCH
To tune manually, select channel
number by CHANNEL +/- keys.
Select 'SEARCH' by pressing /
in the 'INSTALL' (Fig 5.1) submenu.
Then press / repeatedly to
search for the desired channel.

Press POWER to turn your TV on.
Select a channel by either CHANNEL
+ / - keys or Direct selection.
gCHANNEL + /- SELECTION
Press CHANNEL + / - key on your
remote control to change channels.
g DIRECT SELECTION
You can select a particular channel
number (from 000 to 200) by pressing
the numbers on the remote.
gVOLUME CONTROL
Press VOLUME +/- keys to adjust the
sound.

!Press CHANNEL / to select a
channel.
!Press VOLUME + / - to increase /
decrease the sound level.
!If your TV is in stand-by mode,
press CHANNEL A/T to turn your
TV on.
VIEWING IMAGE FROM AN
EXTERNAL DEVICE
You can view images from VCR's or
other external devices connected to
your TV. Refer to Fig 2.1, Pg. 3, for
external devices connections.
!Press TV/AV key on the remote
control unit to select the video
mode.

channel you are at is inserted at that
programme number. This is good to
stack your channels theme wise (for
e.g. all news channels from
programme no. 1-10)
gSKIP
While at this option, press / to
make it ON/OFF. The channel you are
then viewing will be skipped when
you surf later. You may go to as many
channels as you wish to and set the
value to "ON" in order to skip them.
One can however view a skipped
channel by punching the channel
number directly on the remote.
gDELETE
While at this option, you may press
key to permanently delete the
channel you are at. The channel next
in line occupies the present slot. To
bring back the deleted channel one
has to tune the set again.
gCHANNEL NAME
You can enter the programme name
by pressing / key. To move the
cursor, press / key.

6. Viewing A Television Program

'AV' mode should be selected for
watching VCR/VCP/VCD/DVD
player. To select AV mode using
the front control buttons on the TV
repeat the following steps.
!Press 'MENU' key on the front
control panel.
!Press CHANNEL / buttons on
the front panel to select 'PICTURE'
menu. Enter the 'PICTURE' sub-
menu by using VOLUME + / - keys.
!Select 'INPUT' by using CHANNEL
/ and change viewing modes
by using VOLUME + / - keys.

!In the 'FEATURES PG1' submenu,
use key to scroll down to 'AUTO
OFF'.
!Pressing / keys will toggle
'AUTO OFF' between ON and OFF.
If no signal is being received by the set,
you can set the screen to display a
pleasant blue colour background
instead of the video noise by selecting
'BLUE-BACK'.
!In the 'FEATURES PG1' submenu,
use key to scroll down to 'BLUE
BACK'.
!Pressing / keys will toggle
'BLUE BACK' ON or OFF.
In TV mode, if no signal is received by
the set for 10 minutes, you can set the
TV to shut off automatically in the
'AUTO OFF/ON'.
SHARPNESS by pressing /
keys and adjust by / keys.
The bar showing level of selected
picture characteristics (Brightness,
Contrast, Colour and Sharpness) is
displayed as shown in Fig 7.1
Note: 'TINT' is displayed only when viewing
images from NTSC 4.43 and NTSC 3.58 colour
system source in AV MODE.
Picture Modes
You can select one of the five picture
adjustment modes by repeatedly
pressing the VSM (Video Status
Memory) key on the remote control.
!CARTOON - Suitable for viewing
cartoons, picture is in soft mode
resulting in minimal stain on your
children's eyes.
!NEWS - Suitable for news
viewing.
!FILM / POP - Suitable for watching
movies / songs.
!SPORT - Suitable for watching
sports channel.
!USER - User's personal setting of
colour, brightness, contrast,
sharpness.
Picture Adjustment.
!Press 'MENU' repeatedly and select
PICTURE or press MENU once and
select PICTURE by pressing /
keys. 'PICTURE' is highlighted.
!Press / to enter 'PICTURE' sub-
menu (See Fig 7.1). You can
!select any item from
BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST, COLOUR,

This feature allows you to select skin
tone settings for your picture from
glowing (pinkish), natural and soft
(bluish).
!Press SKIN TONE on your
remote and select Skin Tone from
GLOWING, NATURAL & SOFT
according to your preference.

Colour System
(Shift Key Operation)
You can select the appropriate colour
system on your TV by pressing COL.
SYS key on your remote.
Input
You can select signal-input mode on
your TV.
!In the 'PICTURE' submenu, use key
to scroll down to 'INPUT'.
!Pressing the / keys will change
the INPUT between TV and AV.
Music Mode
(Shift Key Operation)
This feature allows you to listen to
the audio, switching the picture tube
off allowing you to save on
electricity. Press the key marked
'MUSIC MODE' on the remote.
Pressing the key again will bring the
picture back.

picture sharpness is better.
!Press 'MENU' repeatedly and select

Picture Tilt*
There are cases where the Earth's
magnetic force may make the picture
tilt slightly. If this happens, you can
correct the picture tilt using this
function.
!Press 'MENU' repeatedly & select
FEATURES Pg1.
!Press / to select PICTURE TILT.
!Press / keys until the picture
becomes level.
*Available only in 29 Oxygen Thunder.
Auto Off

You can adjust sound level of right
and left side speakers as per your
choice
In 'SOUND' menu press / to
select EQUALISER menu.
Select 'BALANCE' by using /
keys.
Press / to adjust 'BALANCE' as
per your choice.
Your TV is provided with Frequency
Equalisers, which enables you to
adjust the Bass (Low Frequency
Sound) & Treble (High Frequency
Sound).
!Select SOUND menu.
!Press / to select 'EQUALISER'
menu.
!Press to enter 'EQUALISER' sub-
menu.
!Repeatedly press / to select
the sound frequency you want to
adjust.
!Repeatedly press / to adjust
that frequency.
The sound level can be adjusted by
pressing VOLUME + / - keys.of sound
by using the Volume Lock.

VolumeLock
The sound volume can be fixed at a
certain maximum level beyond which
the level will not rise further. As
described above select 'SOUND'
submenu. Volume lock can be set
'ON' or 'OFF' at the present level by
pressing / keys. (Fig 8.1)

SoundSystem
!In the 'SOUND' submenu, use
key to scroll down to 'SOUND
SYSTEM' (Fig 8.1).
Select required 'SOUND SYSTEM' by
pressing / keys. Default option
in sound system is 'BG'.
Pressing 'MUTE' key will make the
sound half of the present volume.
Pressing it once again will make the
sound inaudible. Pressing the button
again will bring back the sound.
Mute Key
You can select one of the five sound
adjustment modes by repeatedly
pressing the SSM (Sound Status
Memory) key on the remote control.
!CARTOON : suitable for
watching cartoons.
!NEWS: Enhances Vocal
frequencies.
!SPORTS: Heightens Bass & Treble
settings.
!FILM SONG: Heightens the Bass,
Treble & Vocal setting with
Surround ON.
The above four settings are fixed settings.
!USER SSM: Users can set
personal settings for Bass &
Treble.
SoundModes
Headphone
Your TV has been provided with
Headphone. The stereo headphones
provided by ONIDA have bass reflex
speakers and tweeters, which allow
you to enjoy high fidelity sound
without disturbing others.
!Headphones are also provided
with 10 feet wire, which allows you
to watch the program from safer
distance.
!The headphone has a cushioned
earphone provides shields from
ambient sound.
Note: By inserting the headphone in the
headphone socket, KY Bass Blaster will not be

SurroundSound
You can enjoy surround sound by
pressing the SURROUND key on your
remote. In the "ON" mode
"SIMULATED" or "HALL" is displayed
on the screen and you get a three-
dimensional sound effect. You can
switch-off the mode by pressing the
“SURROUND” key again.
KYBass/BassBoost
Low frequency sound can be
boosted by pressing the KY BASS
key on your remote. In on mode, 'KY
BASS / BASS BOOST ON' is
displayed on the screen. You can
switch off KY BASS / BASS BOOST
by pressing the KY BASS key again.
'KY BASS / BASS BOOST OFF' is
displayed on the screen.
