Ground Preparation
1. Lay out the base, slide and the 3m monkey bar in the position that you intend the climbing
frame to be placed. Ensure the base is parallel of any buildings, fences etc. that you are
wishing to match in with. This will give you the size of the footprint the frame will take up in
the garden.
2. Allow for at least 1.8m clearance beyond the end of the slide and 1.2m clearance for the
steps, rock module and swing module.
3. Once you are happy that the layout is correct, remove the swing bar and slide.
4. Mark out clearly the centre of all 8 cut outs of the base. Once these are marked you can lift
the bases out of your way and then dig your holes.
5. If the climbing frame is on a level surface, then dig the 8 holes at a diameter of 12” and
depth 12”. The tricky part is when the surface is uneven; in this case you would have to
compensate for the slope by making some holes deeper or shallower than others (minimum
depth of 10”). The bottoms of all 8 holes need to be level.

Assembly Instructions
All components needed during the assembly are numbered with reference to the parts list, please
refer back to the parts list to ensure you are assembling the correct components for each step.
Step 1: Marking your holes
•The first thing to do will be to set the two halves of the octagonal base into the desired
position in your garden. Once you are happy with the positioning, you can mark all eight
holes where the cut outs are around the outside of the base. If there is no tree for the
octagonal base to be cut around, then you will also need to mark the centre of the base for
an extra vertical support. Once these holes are marked, you will then dig the holes roughly
12” deep and 12” wide. These may vary if the garden is on a slope
Step 2:
•The next step will be to work out the desired height of the base. This is normally determined
by the type of slide you have chosen, and the side of the tower which you want your slide to
come out. If your garden has a slope, this may be a bit more difficult to determine.
•If you are cutting your base around a tree, then the next step will be to screw two of the
2822mm 3” x 1½” onto either side of the tree, ensuring they are level.

Step 3:
•You can then use these to set one half of your base onto so you can mark around the shape
of the tree, and then cut out using a jigsaw. Once you are happy with the cut out around the
tree, and the base is sitting half way across the diameter of the tree, then you will set the 2nd
half of the base up and cut it out so it matches in with the first half.

Step 4:
•The next step will be to start putting the vertical posts around the base. Ensure these are
level and plumb, and once the base is held up level, you can stitch screws in through the
base into the posts to hold temporarily in place.

Step 5:
•After you have all the posts positioned and the base levelled, you will then go around and fit
the 3” x 3” supports in the marked positions to hold the weight of the base. These will be
screwed through the posts using the 200mm index screws, then decking screws down
through the decking boards.

Step 6: Installing Horizontal Supports
•Put in the 4” x 4” supports running from the vertical posts. Ensure these are running the
opposite way to the 3” x 1½” supports on the bottom of the base (You may have to remove
the 2822mm x 3” x 1.5” that was secured to the tree earlier in the installation). Once again
use the 200mm index screws to fix through the posts. Drill 32mm holes in the centre of the
outsides of the post and then put the screws through these holes, two into each.

Note - If you are not assembling your base around a tree you will also need to install a vertical post
in the middle of the base. Use the 1226mm post and screw it to the underside of the two main 4” x
4” supports running through the centre of the base. Next measure from the bottom of the hole you
have previously dug, up to the 4”x 4” support, and secure a vertical support to this ensuring this is
tight to help take the weight of the middle of the base.

Step 7: Installing your railings
•Ensure that the correct railings are going in the right openings of the base, i.e. A with A and
B with B. Go around and drill your 32mm holes on the outsides of all the posts, in line with
the centre of the top of each railing. The railings will be fixed using 120mm screws through
the top of each railing, and with decking screws down into the decking base.

Step 8: Monkey Bar Module Assembly
•Lay out the 2 posts on a flat surface
•Attach the 420mm post to the top of the posts as shown, using the 200mm screws. Please
ensure that the 420mm post is flush with the cut on the top of each 3m post

Step 9:
•Attach a piece of 1755mm x 3” x 1.5” across the middle of the A-frame to hold it in its place
when lifted. To position this, mark 900mm down from the top of each post and line up the
top of the 1755mm timber to each of these lines
•Cut the 1755mm timber flush with the A-frame posts

Step 10:
•Place each swing hook through the pre-drilled holes of the 3m monkey bar post, secure
using the appropriate spanner
