Factors t at may affect cooking
time are: preferred degree of
cooking, starting temperature,
altitude, volume, size and s ape of
foods and utensils used. As you
become familiar wit t e oven, you
will be able to adjust t ese factors.
It is better to undercook rat er t an
overcook foods. If food is
undercooked, it can always be
returned to t e oven for furt er
cooking. If food is overcooked,
not ing can be done. Always start
wit minimum cooking time.
Small quantities of food
Take care w en eating small
quantities of food as t ese can
easily burn, dry out or catc fire if
cooked too long. Always set s ort
cooking time and c eck t e food
frequently.
Foods low in moisture
Take care w en eating foods low
in moisture, e.g. bread items,
c ocolate, popcorn, biscuits and
pastries. T ese can easily burn,
dry out or catc on fire if cooked
too long. We do not recommend
eating foods low in moisture suc
as popcorn or bread.
T is oven as been developed for
food use only.
We do not recommend to use for
eating non food items suc as
w eat bags or ot water bottles.
Reheating
It is essential t at re eated food is
served “piping ot”.
Remove t e food from t e oven
and c eck t at it is “piping ot”, i.e.
steam is being emitted from all
parts and all sauce is bubbling.
(You may c oose to c eck t e food
as reac ed 72 °C wit a food
t ermometer - but remember do
not use t is t ermometer inside t e
microwave.)
For foods t at cannot be stirred,
e.g. lasagne, s ep erds pie, t e
centre s ould be cut wit a knife to
test it is well eated t roug . Even if
a manufacturer’s packet instructions
ave been followed always c eck
t e food is piping ot before serving
and if in doubt return your food to
t e oven for furt er eating.
Standing time
Standing time refers to t e period
at t e end of cooking or re eating
w en food is left before being
eaten, i.e. it is a rest time w ic
allows t e eat in t e food to
continue to conduct to t e centre,
t us eliminating cold spots.
