1.0 - GENERAL INFORMATION 2.0 - SAFETY SURFACING
The NZS:5828:2015 states: “A minimum fall zone of 1500mm shall apply
for movable play equipment items that measure more than 600mm from
surface level.
Movable playground equipment with a free height of fall over 600mm shall
have a certified impact attenuating surface.
The surfacing used beneath playground equipment having a free height
of fall not exceeding 600 mm, should have some impact attenuating
properties.”
Park Supplies recommends all PlayBlox items are set up on impact
attenuation safety surfacing that has a 1500mm CFH and a minimum fall
zone of 1500mm around all items.
Big Blox

Middle Blox

1.5m fall zone
RECOMMENDED.
The definition of movable playground equipment is a range of equipment
that is not permanently fixed in place, and can be moved on a regular basis
to extend play opportunities.
Movable playground equipment shall be used only under supervision.
When not in use, movable playground equipment shall not be accessible.
Movable playground equipment shall have attachments that connect
securely and are unable to move or slip out while in use.
When setting up play experiences using movable playground
equipment, the supervisor shall ensure that the equipment is placed in
such a way as to prevent the equipment tipping or falling while in use and
to prevent entrapment. (NZS:5828:2015 Appendix A)
All attachments should be checked by an adult supervisor daily. Care must
be taken to ensure all four connection points are fixed on all attachable
items.
For Fall Zones, a safe rule of thumb is to have a minimum of 1.5m of free
space around all movable play equipment.
PlayBlox is manufactured in New Zealand by Park Supplies Playgrounds.
We can also provide maintenance and repairs if the need arises - see page
