Read and understand all instructions before you
use your SoundBar. If damage is caused by failure
to follow instructions, the warranty does not apply.
Safety
Riskofelectricshockorre!
• Never expose the product and accessories to
rain or water. Never place liquid containers,
such as vases, near the product. If liquids are
spilt on or into the product, disconnect it
from the power outlet immediately. Contact
Philips Consumer Care to have the product
checked before use.
• Never place the product and accessories
near naked ames or other heat sources,
including direct sunlight.
•Never insert objects into the ventilation slots
or other openings on the product.
•Where the mains plug or an appliance coupler
is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect
device shall remain readily operable.
•Disconnect the product from the power
outlet before lightning storms.
•When you disconnect the power cord, always
pull the plug, never the cable.

•If the product is transported in temperatures
below 5°C, unpack the product and wait until

Always leave a space of at least four inches
around the product for ventilation. Ensure
curtains or other objects never cover the

incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the
same or equivalent type.
• Remove batteries if they are exhausted or if
the remote control is not to be used for a

should be disposed of properly.

• The product/remote control may contain
a coin/button type battery, which can be
swallowed. Keep the battery out of reach of
children at all times! If swallowed, the battery
can cause serious injury or death. Severe
internal burns can occur within two hours of
ingestion.
• If you suspect that a battery has been
swallowed or placed inside any part of the
body, seek immediate medical attention.
• When you change the batteries, always
keep all new and used batteries out of
reach of children. Ensure that the battery
compartment is completely secure after you
replace the battery.
• If the battery compartment cannot be
completely secured, discontinue use of the
product. Keep out of reach of children and
contact the manufacturer.

a Standby indicator
When the SoundBar is in standby, the standby
indicator turns red.

Source indicator lights up when a source is
selected.
When you change volume, volume indicators
light up to indicate the volume level.
• ARC: Lights up when you select HDMI
ARC as the input source.
• OPTICAL: Lights up when you select
Optical as the input source.
• AUX: Lights up when you select AUX as
the input source.
• COAXIAL: Lights up when you select
COAXIAL as the input source.

Sound mode indicator lights up when a you
play an audio source with surround sound.
When you change volume, volume indicators

EasyLink controls
With Easylink, you can control your SoundBar,

5 Connect your
SoundBar
This section helps you connect your SoundBar
to a TV and other devices. For a comprehensive
interactive guide, see www.connectivityguide.

Note
•For identication and supply ratings, refer to the
type plate at the back or bottom of the product.
•Before you make or change any connections,
make sure that all devices are disconnected from
the power outlet.
Subwoofer
Follow the steps below to position and connect
your subwoofer.
Position
Place the subwoofer at least one meter (three
feet) away from your SoundBar, and ten
centimeters away from the wall.
For best results, place your subwoofer as shown
below.

pair up when you switch on the SoundBar and

You can listen to audio from TV programs through
your SoundBar. Use the best quality connection
available on your SoundBar and TV.
Option 1: Connect to TV through HDMI
(ARC)
Your SoundBar supports HDMI version 1.4 -
Audio Return Channel (ARC). If your TV is HDMI
ARC compliant, connect your SoundBar to the TV
through the HDMI ARC connection.
With HDMI ARC, you do not need an additional
audio cable to play audio from TV through your
SoundBar.

1 Using a High Speed HDMI cable, connect
the HDMI OUT (ARC) connector on your
SoundBar to the HDMI ARC connector on
the TV.
The HDMI ARC connector on the TV might
be labeled HDMI IN or HDMI. For details on
TV connectors, see the TV user manual.
2 On yourTV, turn on HDMI-CEC. For details,
see the TV user manual.
3 If audio from TV does not play automatically,
set up the audio manually (see 'Set up audio
for connected devices' on page 11).

Option 2: Connect to TV through HDMI
Best quality video
If yourTV is not HDMI ARC compliant, connect
your SoundBar to theTV through a standard
HDMI connection.
With a standard HDMI connection, you need an
additional audio cable to play the audio from the
TV through your SoundBar (see 'Connect audio
from TV and other devices' on page 10).

1 Using a High Speed HDMI cable, connect
the HDMI OUT (ARC) connector on your
SoundBar to the HDMI connector on the TV.
The HDMI connector on the TV might be
labeled HDMI IN.
2 On yourTV, turn on HDMI-CEC. For details,
see the TV user manual.
3 To play audio from TV programs through
your SoundBar, connect an additional audio
cable (see 'Connect audio fromTV and other
devices' on page 10).
4 If audio from the TV does not play
automatically, set up the audio manually (see
'Set up audio for connected devices' on page
11).

connector on your SoundBar to the OPTICAL

Option 2: Connect audio through a digital
coaxial cable
Good quality audio
Using a coaxial cable, connect the COAXIAL
connector on your SoundBar to the COAXIAL/
DIGITAL OUT connector on the device.
The digital coaxial connector might be labeled
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT.

Option 3: Connect audio through analog
audio cables
Basic quality audio
Using an analog cable, connect the AUX
connectors on your SoundBar to the audio
connectors on the device.

VCR
Set up audio for connected devices
When you connect a device to your SoundBar,
check the audio settings.
1 On yourTV and other devices, turn on
HDMI-CEC. For details, see the user manual
of the TV and the other device.
2 Select 'Amplier' from the TV speakers menu
to hear sound from the SoundBar. For details,
see the TV user manual.
3 On your SoundBar, turn on System Audio
Control.
If the connected device is not HDMI-CEC
compliant, press the correct source button on the
remote control to select the audio input.
Computers and the Internet
Connect your SoundBar to your computer
network and the internet, and enjoy:
• Multimedia content streamed from your
computer: Play music, photo, and video from
a computer (see 'Browse PC from SoundBar'
on page 18).
• Multimedia content streamed from your
mobile device or tablet:Play music, photo,
and video from a mobile device or other
media server on your network (see 'Browse
a media server from mobile device' on page
19).
• Software update:Update the SoundBar
software through the network (see 'Update
software through the Internet' on page 24).
Caution
•Before you try to connect the SoundBar to
a computer network, familiarize yourself with
the network router, media server software
and networking principles. If necessary, read
documentation that accompanies the network
components. Philips is not responsible for lost,
damaged, or corrupt data.

Wired connection
Connect your SoundBar to your router through a
network cable.
What you need
• A network router (with DHCP enabled).
• A network cable (RJ45 straight cable).
• Computer and mobile devices with media
server software installed.
• For software update, make sure that the
network router has access to the Internet,
and is not restricted by rewalls or other
security systems.
Set up the wired network
Connect your SoundBar to your router as shown
below, and then switch on the devices.
1 Connect the SoundBar to a network router
through a wired connection.
2 Turn on your TV, and switch to the correct
source for the SoundBar.
3 Press (Home).
4 Select [Setup], and then press OK.
5 Select [Network] > [Ethernet], and then
press OK.
6 Follow the instructions on the TV to
complete the setup.
» The SoundBar connects to the internet.
7 If connection fails, a failure message is
displayed on your TV. Press OK to return
to the previous menu, and then retry the
procedure.
LAN
Wireless connection
Connect your SoundBar to your router through a
wireless connection.
What you need
• A network router (with DHCP enabled). For
best wireless performance, coverage, and
compatibility, use 802.11n router.
• Computer and mobile devices with media
server software installed.
• For software update, make sure that the
network router has access to the Internet
and is not restricted by rewalls or other
security systems.
Set up the wireless network
Your SoundBar has a built-in Wi-Fi for easy access
to the wireless network. Connect your SoundBar
to your router as shown below, and then switch
on the devices.
1 Connect the SoundBar to a network router
through a wireless connection.
2 Turn on your TV, and switch to the correct
source for the SoundBar.
3 Press (Home).
4 Select [Setup], and then press OK.
5 Select [Network] > [Wireless], and then
press OK.
6 Follow the instructions on the TV to
complete the setup.
» The SoundBar connects to the internet.
7 If connection fails, a failure message is
displayed on your TV. Press OK to return
to the previous menu, and then retry the
procedure.

Check network settings
1 Press (Home).
2 Select [Setup], and then press OK.
3 Select [Network] > [Network Info], and
then press OK.

Name your SoundBar
To easily identify your SoundBar on a network,
name your SoundBar.
1 Turn on your TV, and switch to the correct
source for the SoundBar.
2 Press (Home).
3 Select [Setup], and then press OK.

6 Use your SoundBar
This section helps you use the SoundBar to play
media from a wide range of sources.
Before you start
• Make the necessary connections as described
in the user manual.
• Complete the rst-time setup. First-time
setup appears when you turn on the
SoundBar for the rst time. If you do not
complete the setup, you are prompted
to complete it each time you turn on the
SoundBar.
• Switch the TV to the correct source for the
SoundBar.
Adjust the volume
Your SoundBar has incremental volume control.
When you change volume or mute your SoundBar,
one or multiple Volume indicator light up to
indicate the volume level.
• To increase or decrease volume, press +/-
(Volume).
• To mute sound, press MUTE.
• To restore the sound, press MUTE again or
press +/- (Volume).

This section helps you choose the ideal sound for
your video or music.
Sound mode
Select predened sound modes to suit your video
or music.
1 Press SOUND SETTINGS repeatedly to
select a sound setting:
• [Auto]: Automatically select [Movie] or
[Music] based on the sound stream.
• [Movie]: Enjoy a cinematic audio
experience, specially enhanced for movies.
• [Music]: Recreate the original recording
environment of your music, in the studio
or at a concert.
• [Original]: Experience the original sound
of your movies and music, without added
sound effects.
• [News]: Hear every word with optimized
speech and clear vocals.
• [Gaming]: Enjoy thrilling arcade sounds,
ideal for action-packed video games or
loud parties.
2 Press OK to conrm.
Auto volume
Turn the auto volume on to keep the volume
constant when you switch to a different source.
1 Press (Home).
2 Select [Setup], and then press OK.
3 Press the Navigation buttons (up/down) to
select [Audio] > [AutoVolume] > [On].
4 Press OK to conrm.
Surround sound mode
Experience an immersive audio experience with
surround sound modes.
1 Press SURROUND repeatedly to select a
surround mode.
• [Virtual Surround]: Creates a highly
compelling 5.1 channel listening
experience.The sound mode indicator
on the main unit lights up.
• [Stereo]:Two-channel stereo sound. Ideal
for listening to music.
Equalizer
Change the high frequency (treble) and low
frequency (bass) settings of the SoundBar.
Press TREBLE +/- or BASS +/- to change the
frequency.
The DTS indicator blinks when you press TREBLE
+/- or BASS +/-.
Synchronize picture and sound
If the audio and video are not synchronized, delay
the audio to match the video.
1 Press (Home).
2 Select [Setup], and then press OK.
3 Press the Navigation buttons (up/down) to
select [Audio] > [Lip Sync], and then press
OK.
4 Select one of the following options, and then
press OK:
• [Auto]: For an HDMI connection,
automatically adjust the audio delay.
• [Manual]: Press the Navigation buttons
(up/down) to manually adjust the audio
delay.
• [Off]: Disable automatic adjustment of
audio.
5 Press OK to conrm.
USB storage devices
Enjoy pictures, audio and video on a USB storage
device.
What you need
• A USB storage device that is formatted for
FAT or NTFS le systems, and complies with
the Mass Storage Class.
• A USB extension cable, if the USB storage
device does not t into the connector.
Note
•You can use digital cameras connected by USB
if they can play the les without using a special
computer program.
•To play DivX DRM - protected les from a USB
storage device, connect your SoundBar to a TV
through an HDMI cable.

register the SoundBar on www.divx.com using the
DivX VOD code.
1 Press (Home).
2 Select [Setup], and then press OK.
3 Select [Miscellaneous] > [DivX(R)VOD
Code], and then press OK.
» The DivX VOD registration code for
your SoundBar is displayed.
Subtitles
If your video has subtitles in multiple languages,
select a subtitle language.
1 While playing video, press SUBTITLE to
select a language.
Note
•Make sure that the subtitle le has the same
name as the video le. For example, if the video
le is named 'movie.avi', save the subtitle le as
'movie.srt' or 'movie.sub'.
•You can play subtitle les in the following
formats: .srt, .sub, .txt, .ssa, .ass, smi, and .sami.
These les do not appear in the le navigation
menu.
Audio, video, and picture
options
Use advanced features when you play audio,
video, or media les from a USB storage device or
network media server (through SimplyShare).
Audio options
While playing audio, repeat an audio track or a
folder.
1 Press OPTIONS repeatedly to cycle
through the following functions:
• [Repeat One]: Repeat the current track
or le.
• [Repeat All]: Repeat a selected folder.
• [ShufeLoop]: Play audio tracks in
random order.
• [Repeat Off]:Turn off the repeat mode.

Video options
While watching video, select options such as
subtitles, audio language, and video settings.
Depending on the video source, some options are
not available.
1 Press OPTIONS.
» The video options menu is displayed.
2 Press the Navigation buttons and OK to
select and change:
• [Audio]: Select audio language for video.
• [Subtitle]: Select subtitle language for
video.
• [GoTo]: Skip to a specic part of the
video by entering the time of the scene.
• [Repeat Title]: Repeat a title.
• [Repeat All]: Repeat all the tracks.
• [Repeat Off]:Turn off the repeat mode.
• [Video Setting]: Adjust the video output.
Picture options
While viewing a picture, add animation to a
slideshow or change the picture settings.
1 Press OPTIONS.
» The picture options menu appears.
2 Press the Navigation buttons and OK to
select and change the following settings:
• [Video Setting]: Adjust the video output.
• [Background Music]: Select the music
track.
• [Slide Timing]: Select the display speed
for each picture in a slide show.

• [Repeat All]: Repeat a selected folder.

Slideshows
While playing audio, access fun features such as
picture and musical slideshows.
Picture slideshows
View a slideshow of your pictures stored in your
USB storage device or network media server.
1 Select a picture from the USB storage device
or network media server, and then press
(Play).
2 Press OPTIONS.
3 Press Navigation buttons and OK to select
the following settings:
• [Slide Transition]: Select the transition
type for slideshow.
• [Slide Timing]: Select the display speed
for each picture in a slide show.
4 Press to stop the slideshow.
Musical slideshows
Create a musical slideshow to play music and
pictures at the same time.
1 Select a music track, and then press OK.
2 Press BACK, and go to the picture folder.
3 Select a picture, and then press (Play) to
start the slideshow.
4 Press to stop slideshow and music.
Use smartphone
Turn your iPhone or Android smartphone into
a virtual remote control, or use it to browse
the contents of a USB storage device on your
SoundBar.
What you need
• An iPhone (iOS 3.1.3 and above) or Android
(Android 2.1 and above) smartphone.
• A wired or wireless home network.
Before you start
• Connect your SoundBar to your home
network (see 'Computers and the Internet'
on page 11).
• Name your SoundBar (see 'Name your
SoundBar' on page 13).
• Connect your smartphone to the same home
network. For details, see your smartphone
user manual.

Download MyRemote application
Download the Philips application, MyRemote
(MyRemote) to your smartphone.This application
is free.
Note
•Philips MyRemote is only available for iPhones
and Android smartphones.
1 Tap the App Store (App Store) icon on the
iPhone or the Market (Market) icon on the
Android smartphone.
2 Search for 'Philips MyRemote' application.
3 Follow the instructions on your smartphone
to download the application.
» The MyRemote (MyRemote) icon is
added to the home screen of your
smartphone.
Access MyRemote application
Access the MyRemote application from your
smartphone, and then identify your SoundBar on
the home network.
1 Tap MyRemote (MyRemote) on your
smartphone.
» Your SoundBar and the other devices
on the network are displayed on your
smartphone. A browsing bar with
Devices, Remote, and Source tabs is also
displayed.
2 If your SoundBar is not found, check the
network connection.
Then, tap the Devices (Devices) tab on your
smartphone to search again.
3 Tap the SoundBar icon on the smartphone.
» The virtual remote control is displayed
on the smartphone.
4 To exit the application, press the home
button on your smartphone.
Use your smartphone as a remote
control
The virtual remote control is displayed in multiple
screens on the smartphone.To access the buttons,
swipe the smartphone screen to the left or right.
Only the control buttons that are relevant to the
play mode are enabled on your smartphone. For
example, if you play pictures, only the remote
control buttons that are used to control the
pictures are enabled. However, if you play a video,
additional buttons, such as SUBTITLE are enabled
on your smartphone.
1 Launch the application on your smartphone.
» Depending on the play mode, the
relevant remote control buttons are
enabled.
2 If the remote control buttons do not appear,
tap the Remote (Remote) tab on your
smartphone.
3 Swipe to the left or right screen to access
more buttons.
Note
•Some control functions are not available on
smartphones.
Browse a USB storage device
Browse a USB storage device from your
smartphone, and play an audio, video, or
multimedia le.
1 Launch the remote control application on
your smartphone.
2 Connect a USB storage device to your
SoundBar.
3 On your smartphone, tap the Source
(Source) tab, and then select USB (USB).
» The folders in your USB storage device
are displayed.
4 Select a folder to browse, and then select a
le to play.
» The relevant remote control buttons are
enabled on your smartphone.
5 To access the remote control while you
browse the contents, tap the Remote
(Remote) tab on your smartphone.

Share media through
SimplyShare
When you connect your SoundBar to your home
network, you can enjoy music, photo, and video
stored on a computer or other media server on
the network through SimplyShare.
With SimplyShare, you can:
• select and play media stored on a computer
through your SoundBar,
• select media stored on a mobile device and
play it on your SoundBar, and
• use your mobile device as a controller to
select content from a media server, and play
it on your SoundBar.
The media server can be set up on any
DLNA-compatible device such as a computer,
smartphone, or tablet.
Note
•You cannot share copyright protected content
through SimplyShare.
What you need
• A wired or wireless home network,
connected to a Universal Plug and Play
(uPnP) router. For best wireless performance,
coverage, and compatibility, use 802.11n
router.
• A LAN cable to connect your SoundBar to
your home network.
• A media server software such as:
• PC running Windows Media Player 11 or
higher, or
• Mac running Twonky Media Server, or
• Mobile devices with media sharing
applications.
Note
•There are numerous media servers in the
market for computers and mobile devices.These
media servers support variety of devices, media
types, and operating systems. Select a media
server based on the device, operating system,
and your needs.
Before you start
• Connect your SoundBar to your home
network. For best performance, connect the
SoundBar through a wired network (see
'Computers and the Internet' on page 11).
• Connect your computer and other DLNA-
compatible mobile devices to the same home
network. For details, see the user manual of
the device.
• Make sure that the PC rewall allows you to
run the media server software.
• Make sure that the devices supports DLNA
or media sharing (iOS) features.
• Switch on the devices and the router.
Browse PC from SoundBar
From the SoundBar home menu, access the media
les on your computer and share them through
SimplyShare.
To enable media sharing, set up the media server
software on your computer.
Set up media server software
Some examples of media servers are as follows.To
use other media servers, see the web site of the
media server.
Microsoft Windows Media Player 11
1 Start Windows Media Player on your PC.
2 Click the Library tab, and then select Media
Sharing.
3 The rst time you select Media Sharing on
your PC,a pop-up screen appears. Check the
Share my media box and click OK.
» The Media Sharing screen is displayed.
4 In the Media Sharing screen, make sure that
you see a device marked as Unknown Device.
» If you don't see an unknown device
after a minute or so, check that your PC
rewall is not blocking the connection.
5 Select the unknown device and click Allow.
» A green tick appears next to the device.
6 By default,Windows Media Player shares
from these folders: My Music, My Pictures,
and MyVideos. If your les are in other
folders, select Library > Add to Library.
» The Add to Library screen is displayed.
• If necessary, select Advanced options to
display a list of monitored folders.
7 Select My folders and those of others I can
access, and then click Add.
8 Follow the onscreen instructions to add the
other folders that contain your media les.
