OPERATION
Follow these steps to get the best results from your mower.
1. Walk at a good, steady pace.
A reel mower is powered by you, so move at a comfortably quick walking pace. This will
provide the best results. The faster you walk, the faster the blade turns. Avoid slow or jerky
movements as reel mowers can bind up and skid if you move too slowly.
2. Overlap your rows.
When mowing back and forth across the lawn, slightly overlap the row that you have already
mowed. This will make the mower a bit easier to push and it will also help catch any spots
that you might have missed on the last row where there's a little bit of grass left over.
3. Experiment with different mowing patterns.
Different types of grass and different lawns have different growing patterns and different types
of grains of growth. So the direction in which you mow can make a difference in the quality of
the cut. Try different cuts to determine if mowing in one direction versus another gives a better
cut.
4. Don’t let the grass get too tall.
Manual mowers are harder to push when the grass gets too tall, so mow your lawn regularly.

10
Follow these general maintenance guidelines before each use.
•Check that all nuts, bolts and screws are securely tightened in order to be sure that the
mower is in a safe working condition.
•nly use replacement cutters and blades of the correct type.
•Blades do not need sharpening. Check adjustment of blades before each use.
•For your own safety, replace worn or damaged parts without delay.
After each use:
Cleaning
IMPORTANT! Maintenance and cleaning work should be performed after each use.
•Remove all grass cuttings that have collected around the wheels, rollers and blades.
•Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents.
•n a monthly basis and just prior to long term storage, apply oil or lubricant (i.e. WD-40) on all
cutting surfaces, the cutting reel axle shaft and wheels.
