To allow its customers to optimise disconnector maintenance in terms of safety, cost and quality, SDCEM indicates the
degrees of complexity for each operation described in the table below.
Level breakdown is as follows :
Routine servicing. Equipment servicing operations are normally described in the user manual. Minor
preventive maintenance operations not requiring disassembly; troubleshooting by standard replacement
Operations requiring
simple procedures
and/or
support equipment
(devices delivered with the
equipment, and basic tools not included in the delivery),
easy to use and to implement.
Preventive maintenance operations such as overall adjustment, failure identification and
diagnostic, repair by replacement of components or functional items, minor mechanical repairs,
carried out by a specialised technician using the tools, and the measurement and adjustment
Operations, whose procedures involve mastery of a specific technique or technology and/
or implementation of specialised support equipment. All major corrective and preventive
jeopardise equipment performance.

MAINTENANCE
All servicing and maintenance operations must be carried out on devices that are
de-energised and locked-out as per the prevailing operating procedure.
In serious polluted conditions (maritime, industrial), it is advised to monitor the
behaviour of the equipment in a corrosive atmosphere.

Excessive operating stress
Excessive overheating detected by
thermo-vision
In operation:
Excessive operating stress
Cause(s) probable(s)
The installation drawing is not suitable.
Drive rod assembly crank angles and radii do
not conform to installation drawings.
A component disrupts proper device closing
.
If an associated earthing switch is used, it is
in the closed position.
If an associated earthing switch is used,
electrical interlocking is not properly
connected.
A component disrupts proper device opening.
If an associated earthing switch is used,
electrical interlocking is not properly
connected.
The supporting framework sags during the
operation.
If shaft extensions are used, the end bearing
is not correctly fixed.
The tubes slip in the sleeves.
The operating mechanism drive rod assembly
crank angles and radii do not comply with the
installation drawings.
The drive rod assembly is too loose in the
closed position.
The supporting framework sags during the
operation.
The framework is not flat, thus generating
deformations.
The disconnector link tubes are not properly
lined up.
The high voltage connections exert excessive
stress on the terminals.
The blades are not lined up with the contacts.
Current flow is greater than nominal
current of device.
The device has not been operated in the past
year.
Insufficient lubrication.
Solution(s) préconisée(s)
Check that the drawing corresponds to the
installation to be adjusted.
Repeat the adjustment procedure step by
step, complying with the radii and angles of
the cranks marked on the drawings.
Remove the component coming up against
the end stop.
Check mechanical and electrical interlocking,
open the associated earthing switch and
close the disconnector.
Check electrical interlocking connection.
Remove the component coming up against
the end stop.
Check electrical interlocking connection.
The supporting framework is not sufficiently
rigid, and needs to be strengthened.
Check bearing fixing, and retighten if
required. Strengthen the supporting
framework if required.
Check tightening of the device tube sleeves.
Should the problem persist, contact SDCEM
Services.
Repeat the adjustment procedure step by
step complying with the crank angles and
radii marked on the installation drawings.
Repeat the adjustment procedure in step 8 to
increase drive rod assembly compression.
The supporting framework is not sufficiently
rigid, and needs to be strengthened.
Straighten the mounting plane to obtain a flat
surface, and wedge if necessary.
Adjust line-up of the disconnector link tubes,
and wedge the poles if necessary.
Reduce connection stresses.
Do not unsettle the device.
Contact SDCEM Services.
Check that current flow is less than
nominal current of device, by referring to
or send the
thermovision report to SDCEM Services for
on-site assessment.
Refer to the maintenance chart in this
Instruction Book. Run a complete operating
cycle once a year.
Refer to the maintenance chart in this
Instruction Book. Lubricate contacts, grease
mechanical joints and connecting rod
assemblies.
Should the problem persist despite the above operations, you need to contact SDCEM Services (contact details on the last page of this
Instruction Book), describing the cause of the problem and enclosing, if possible, with your query, a photo of the device highlighting the
problem.
