Electrical safety
1) Use the electrical equipment only in accordance with its protection class. Do not
work without if the machine is not protected against rain and moisture. Infiltration
of water increases the risk of electric shock. Class II protection is double insulated,
switches and the port correspond to IP 54.
2) Avoid wrapping the cord around the unit and yanking the plug from the socket.
Keep the cord away from heat, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or
entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
3) When working outdoors, use only an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
4) Always unwind the cable completely from the cable drum.
5) Remember that the operating mains voltage is 230V; the machine can also be
operated with 220V.
6) When operating outside, the conductor must be secured with a FI protection
switch.
7) Drilling machines require a 16A fuse.
Personal safety
1) Wear appropriate clothing. Avoid wearing loose clothes or jewelry. Keep clothing,
gloves and hair away from drills.
2) Please be careful. Mind what you are doing and work with reason using extreme
caution. Do not work when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or
medicines.
3) Avoid accidental starting of the machine. Always turn off the unit after work.
Place of work
1) The drilling machine must be installed on a level and stable surface.
2) When using the machine Easyfix, keep children and any unauthorized persons
away from the machine.
3) The operator should stand immediately at the machine.
4) Keep the work area well lit.
Staff qualifications
Persons operating the machine must be at least 16 years old and be sufficiently trained,
which means that before the operation the user guide is to be thoroughly read and
understood.
Residual risk – danger of injury
1) Do not lean against the drill spindle while activating the lever.
2) During transportation protect the foot lever, otherwise the drill will protrude from
the machine body.
3) Do not hit the head against the spacing rod.
4) Prevent your clothes from being caught by the drill.

Information on the motor and the noise level
The drive unit: motor: Bosch; type GWS 21-230 H. Follow separate instructions of Bosch.
Information on noise levels:
T Typical noise level measured on the unit is as follows: Sound pressure level 90 dB
(A); Sound power level 103 dB (A).
Values measured and determined according to EN 50 144.
Wear hearing protection.
Principle of operation
Scope and permissible operation
The drilling machine is designed exclusively for drilling trees with a height of 1 - 3 m and
a trunk diameter of 40 -140mm. When you press on the foot pedal, the rotating drill
goes up in vertical direction and makes a conical hole at the end of the trunk so that
trees may be placed securely and vertically on Easyfix exhibition and Christmas tree
stands, both outdoor and indoor.
Machine/equipment can be used only in perfect condition, according to its intended use,
specifications and safety instructions, in consideration of the dangers and following the
user guide!
Any misuse may result in damage to the machine and/or accidents.
Operation incompatible with intended use
1) Drilling other items.
2) Short circuiting.
3) Operation of the machine with different mains voltages.
Operation
Preparation
1) Put the guide bar in the chuck (back of the machine) and tighten the knob.

-

-
2) Put the spacing rod with the adjusting lever to the right and from up on the
extension rod, and make adjustments in line with the size of the tree to be tapped.
If the user is left-handed, the hand knob on the spacing rod can be turned by 180°,
so that the machine can be operated on the left side.
3) Before using the machine, check regularly if the drill is in place and not damaged.
4) If you use the machine on unpaved surfaces, make sure that the motor is at a safe
distance of at least 8 cm from the ground. If you drill more than 50 trees in one
place, remove chips collected under the machine or shift it to another place. Chips
can clog up the air gap through which air reaches the drilling machine, which can
cause overheating.
5) The end of the tree trunk: the end of the trunk should be cut with a saw at right
angles (+/- 20°) to the axis of the tree (if necessary, make appropriate
improvements).
Start and drilling
1) Before setting, please check whether the cone clamp is free.
2) Start the machine on the green-red keyboard.
3) Insert the end of the tree trunk into the drill chuck.
4) Set the upper centering rod set in such a way that about 2/3 of the tree length lies
in the chuck.
5) When drilling, hold the tree with the upper hand on the trunk at the spacing rod
and fix the lower 1/3 tree length with the lower hand.

-

-
6) The vertical height adjustment is suitable for trees 1-3 m height.
7) While drilling trees below 120 cm in length or trees of very small trunk diameters,
make sure that the trunk is placed exactly in the middle of the drill chuck;
otherwise, the drilled hole will not be stable enough.
8) In the case the trunk is very hard or frozen, the drill must be replaced frequently.
Multiple approaches can facilitate the process of drilling.
9) After the drilling process, make sure that the pedal has completely returned to the
zero position (pedal up). Alternatively, by using the foot lever, pull the pedal
upwards. Now the drill is in its position, and the tree can be taken up by the
machine.
Failing to do so may result in damage to the drill.
10) From time to time, check the drilling result on a tree stand model.
11) If the tree is not straight, it is possible to re-tap it. In this case, shorten the trunk
by about 6 cm.
12) In the event of power failure, the switch will automatically go to the zero position.
Then, a re-start is required.
Replacing a drill
If the drilling process does not proceed smoothly, replace the drill, and perform the
following steps:
1) Turn off the machine and unplug it from the mains.
2) Press the pedal to have the drill come upwards.
3) With an Allen key loosen the screws of the drill chuck.
4) Remove the drill bit and replace with a new one.
5) Use only original Easyfix drills, diameter = 16 mm and length = 120 mm. Tighten
up the screws.
6) The drill blade can be re-sharpened, like metal bits.

Maintenance + storage
Before carrying out maintenance and repair works, always disconnect the machine from
the mains.
1) Maintenance after about 50 drilling passages
Remove the chips from the machine in order not to interfere with the ventilation of
the motor. Check the grill and the drill chuck for tightness. Always tighten up all
screws with the Allen keys.
2) Maintenance after about 10 hours:
In addition to 1):
2.1) if needed, remove resin from the drill and sharpen it.
2.2) clean the guide bars with a cloth.
3) Maintenance after about 250 hours:
In addition to 1) and 2):
3.1) Blow air vents, check the tightness of all screws. Check the tightness of
the gear head. Carbon brushes are designed to work for about 300 hours,
and can be replaced.
4) After the season, it would be good practice to clean the unit, lubricate all moving
parts and keep the drilling machine in a dry place.
