Spare Parts List

Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other
construction activities contains chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects
or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals are:
·Lead from lead-based paints,
·Crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry
products and
·Arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber.
Your risk from these exposure varies, depending on how often you do this type of
work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area
and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are
specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

A Few Words About Safety
The safe operation of mechanical equipment is a partnership between the manufacturer
and the person who operates it. At Target we take this partnership very serious by designing our
equipment to be the safest and the most reliable equipment available to do the job. To insure
that both the performance and safety features of the equipment do the job, we work closely
with our partners to develop and implement strong maintenance and operator training pro-
grams. From design, to manufacture, to operation, to maintenance, it truly is the partnership
that keeps the equipment running smoothly, efficiently and most importantly, safely. Our equip-
ment comes with a comprehensive manual that covers operation, maintenance, parts and safety
instruction specific to the tool. Always read and fully understand all of the safety instructions
given in the manual before operating the equipment.
Safety messages - A safety message informs you about potential hazards that could hurt
you or others. Each safety message is preceded by one of the following three words: Danger,
Warning or Caution.
You WILL be KILLED or SERIOUSLY INJURED if you don’t follow instructions.
You CAN be KILLED or SERIOUSLY INJURED if you don’t follow instructions.

MODEL 2812 ACCESSORIES ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION
Assemble the Model 2812 Drill Stand as shown on page 14.
1. Attach Wheel Assembly (17) to Base (9 or 12), page 14, with capscrews and washers
(14 and 15).
2. Thread Jack Screw (1) into top of Column.
VACUUM SYSTEM, SINGLE PAD CONFIGURATION
1. Screw Stud (7) all the way into the Vacuum Pad.
2. Place frame on the base with the stud protruding through the frame.
3. Thread Nut (1) on the Stud and tighten it securely.
4. Close Single-Pad Valve (11) and connect Hose Assembly (10) to the pad.
OPERATION
1. Set pad with gasket on floor and tighten Nut (1), page 16 to remove all slack.
2. Close Release Valve (15), page 17 and make sure Single Pad Valve (11) is open.
3. Connect vacuum pump motor to 115 VAC power source and turn switch on.
4. Read vacuum on gauge (1), page 17; the valve should be approximately 25 in. hg.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRILL IF THE VACUUM DOES NOT REACH 20 INCHES HG ON THE
GAUGE. DO NOT APPLY SO MUCH DRILLING PRESSURE THAT IT CAUSES THE RUBBER
GASKETS ON THE PADS TO PULL AWAY FROM THE FLOOR.
MAINTENANCE
1. Ensure that electrical components are safe before each use (see pages 5, 6, 7 & 8).
2. Check all vacuum distribution fittings to make sure they are tight.
3. Replace worn pad gaskets; use 3M weatherstrip adhesive or equivalent.
4. Maintain vacuum pump in accordance with the Gast Parts List and Operating and
Maintenance Instructions attached to pump.
4

VACUUM SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
If the pump motor is running and the gauge indicates zero vacuum or low vacuum, check the
following:
1. Release Valve (15), page 17, not closed.
2. Vacuum pad gasket damaged or pads not seating on floor surface properly.
3. Pump filter clogged.
4. Pump filter jar not tight against gasket or jar cracked.
5. Vacuum distribution fittings not tight.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL ELECTRIC POWERED DRILLS
WHEN USING ELECTRIC TOOLS, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE
FOLLOWED TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK AND PERSONAL INJURY
INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND SAVE THEM
FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
1. GROUND ALL TOOLS If the tool is equipped with a three prong plug, it should be
plugged into a three hole electrical receptacle. If an adapter is used to accommodate a
two hole receptacle, the grounding ear must be attached to a known ground. Never
remove the third prong.
2. DON’T FORCE DRILL It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was
designed.
3. WEAR PROPER APPAREL No loose clothing or jewelry to get caught in moving parts.
Rubber gloves and insulated non-skid footwear are recommended when working out
doors. Wear protective covering to contain long hair.
4. USE SAFETY GLASSES at all times.
5. DON’T ABUSE CORD Never carry the tool by its cord or yank it to disconnect from the
receptacle. Keep cord from heat, oil and sharp edges.
6. DISCONNECT TOOLS When not in use; before servicing, when changing accessories such
as bits, extension, etc.
7. GUARD AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCK Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces such
as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerator enclosure
8. REMOVE WRENCHES. Form a habit of checking to see that wrenches are removed from
drill spindle and bit before turning it on.
5

9. MAINTAIN DRILL WITH CARE. Keep drill clean at all times for best and safest perform
ance. Follow instructions for lubricating. Keep handles dry, clean and free of oil or
grease. Inspect switches, tool cords and extension cords periodically and have them
repaired if damaged. Check moving parts for alignment and binding as well as for
breakage and improper mounting. Damaged parts should be repaired or replaced.
10. AVOID ACCIDENTAL STARTING. Don’t carry a plugged-in drill with your finger on the
switch. Be sure the switch is turned off before plugging in a drill. Do not use a drill if
the switch does not turn it on or off.
11. WEAR EAR PROTECTORS when using for extended periods.
12. ACCESSORIES. The use of any accessories other than what is listed or recommended for
this particular drill may be hazardous.
13. KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM CUTTING EDGES AND ALL MOVING PARTS.
14. USE INSULATED SURFACES. A double-insulated or grounded drill may be made live if the
bit comes in contact with live wiring in a wall, floor, ceiling, etc. Always check the work
area for live wires.
15. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not operate drill
when you are tired.
6

EXTENSION CORD CHART
When an extension cord is used, it should also be a 3 wire cord to permit proper grounding of
the drill. As the distance from the supply outlet increases, heavier gauge extensions are
required. The use of extension cords of inadequate size wire causes a serious drop in voltage,
loss of power and possible motor damage. This table is based on limiting line voltage drop to 5
volts at 150% of rated amperes.
IF USING AN EXTENSION CORD OUTDOORS, BE SURE IT IS MARKED WITH THE SUFFIX
“W-A” (“W” IN CANADA) TO INDICATE THAT IS IS ACCEPTABLE FOR OUTDOOR USE.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This drill should be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electric shock. The drill
is equipped with an approved three-conductor cord and three-prong, grounding-type plug to fit
the proper grounding-type receptacle. The green conductor in the cord is the grounding wire.
Never connect the green wire to a live terminal.
NOTE: RECEPTACLE MUST BE GROUNDED FOR SAFE USE OF ADAPTER: IF IN
DOUBT CALL A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN AND HAVE THE RECEPTACLE
CHECKED FOR GROUND.
To connect twist locking plugs like those shown in figures A and B, insert the plug into a matching out-
let. When the plug is fully inserted, turn it clockwise until it locks. This prevents the plug from being
pulled out accidentally. To remove the plug, twist it counterclockwise to unlock it and remove it from
the outlet.
