Customer Service Time and Site Set Up
Greet customer
Quickly attempt to contact customer, then slow down. This is a very important few
minutes. Be sure you look professional; remember our name precedes your arrival.
Smile, let the customer know your glad to be there building their product.
First impressions are quite lasting according to recent research. Put your best foot
forward with each customer. Sometimes on a hard day, an obviously difficult carry, or
during times of personal difficulties you’ll have to fake being happy about being there;
this is normal and happens to everyone sometimes. By giving the customer your best
sincere greeting and introduction you could help build a working relationship that benefit
you, the customer, the rest of your crew and LTP.
“Hi. My name is ____ and I’m from Go Configure, the at home services partner of
Leisure Time Products. I’m here to install your play set and wonder if you could take a
few minutes to show me where you would like it placed.”
Do not act rushed during this initial conversation and remember to smile, be
courteous and professional.
“I am trying to decide on the best parking arrangement, would it be all right if we
parked in the driveway? We’ll be a couple of hours so if you need to get your car out
during that time it would be best if you moved it now so we won’t be blocking you in.”
If the customer agrees, and it makes the most sense, work together to back into
the driveway. It is the policy of Go Configure to always have someone outside the
vehicle watching when a truck or truck/ trailer combination is backed up. Make sure you
have a prearranged signal for an emergency stop. Remember; never leave established
roads or driveways even if the customer invites you to.
Locate installation site
Once the customer has pointed out the installation site and you safely park in the
area best suited to the installation, “Go over” the paperwork to ensure that the product
you are about to build is “exactly” what the customer ordered. Every detail of the sales
order should be checked carefully.
Model, options and positioning should be covered at this time. You should also
ask the customer to sign any required forms at this point as well if there is any
possibility that they will not be available at the completion of the install.
Be sure they understand that children should stay out of the safety zone for the entire
build including the project review.
“We have a Thunder Ridge with a peak style roof (pantomime a peak roof) facing
this way, with the slide coming off here and the swing beam coming out this side.

(Pantomime the Slide and Beam positions) You’ve also ordered the 1# option package
which includes A, B, C,” as you mention each item pantomime its approximate size and
shape in the locations you propose)
REMEMBER THAT IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO BE
SURE THE PRODUCT THAT GETS BUILT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE CUSTOMER
ORDERED! NEVER ASSUME THAT WHAT WAS SENT IS CORRECT! CHECK THE
PAPERWORK CAREFULLY WITH THE CUSTOMER!!
Set up Work Safety Zone
It is important to let the customer know what you are doing at all times but
especially when you are setting up the safety zone because it could appear to some
that you are being unfriendly by establishing a “barrier” between yourself and them and
their children.
“The first thing we will do is mark out a safety zone that no one but the installers
should be inside until the play set installation is complete and we leave”
Place 4 flags around the site giving yourselves plenty of room for the organized
kit and the finished play set. If customer or children are present say, “These 4 flags
represent the safety zone this is the amount of space we need in order to safely
assemble your play set. We will be moving around in here with heavy materials,
fasteners and tools so please stay back until we are finished. As soon as we are
finished we will invite you to come enjoy your new play set!”
Bring out play set Packages
The Boxes that contain the wooden parts of the play set are heavy and should be
handled carefully so as to avoid injury. (Some may wish to use a dolly or “stretcher” for
longer carries.) Every effort should be made to keep the boxes intact until you are ready
to begin installing. Never rip the boxes or bags open. They (tops and bottoms) are used
to keep parts clean and organized throughout the installation process.
Bring out tools
Tools need to be kept in one or two organized wheeled tool boxes. Tools should be “laid
out” in an organized fashion so they can be seen and therefore picked out and used
quickly and easily.

Important Assembly Notes
1) While assembling unit, take time before and after each phase to make sure fort is level. If fort is
not level, assembly will be difficult and improper assembly may result. Extra care must be taken to
insure the fort is square.
2) Tighten bolts securely, tighten nuts on bolts flush to the tube or member, and place caps over
exposed bolts snug to the nut.
3) Pay close attention to the ITEMS NEEDED FOR EACH PHASE. They can be a valuable aid when
sorting your wood and hardware. Assembly will be made easier if items are sorted by phase.
4) Pay close attention to make sure you are using the correct hardware in the correct phases. Using
incorrect hardware may result in improper assembly.
5) Whenever a T-nut is used, follow these directions. Place T-nut in pre-drilled hole. Tap in with hammer.
Place bolt with washers in the opposite side. Hand tighten to make sure the bolt is in the T-nut.
DO NOT over tighten.
6) Read the steps of each phase thoroughly. The written steps may include important information not
shown in the illustrations.
Basic Setup Dimensions
Place the set on level ground, not less than 6 ft [2 m] from any structure or obstruction such
as a fence, garage, house, overhanging branches, laundry lines, or electrical wires.
