4 Storage
EN_20_012_0043l
1Storage
The device must be stored in its original packaging in a dry and vibration-
free environment. The stipulated ambient conditions must be observed.
2Installation
In the final application of the device, safety and fire-control regulations must
be observed and followed.
The device must be used in dry, enclosed spaces only. The stipulated ambi-
ent conditions must be observed. Condensation may form if the device is
transported from a cold environment into the place of use.
Before starting up the device, the temperature must be adjusted and remain
constant. A minimum distance of 100 mm from walls or other objects must
be maintained in order to ensure sufficient ventilation. Existing fan vents and
cooling units in the housing must not be covered. The device must not be in-
stalled in the vicinity of radiators or fan heaters. Direct sunlight is to be
avoided.
The footprint must be stable and largely free from vibrations.
Do you want to be certain that the device can be operated in
the place of use? Then ask us.
3The Installation Position
Horizontal and vertical installation Safety as well as fire-control regulations
must be observed when not conforming to the prescribed position.
Do you want to be certain that the device can be operated in
the intended location? Then ask us.

Power supply 5
EN_20_012_0043l
4Power supply
The system can only be operated with the following power supply.
Manufacturer: FSP, Model: FSP075-DHAN3
The power rating information listed on the type plate does not correspond
to the power required by the device. Rather, the power rating information is
only there for reasons of product safety and is intended to ensure the cor-
rect voltage and to protect the external supply source. The device's actual
power rating falls below these levels.
Before connecting it with the line supply, it is necessary to check if a selector
switch, when available, is set for the local line supply voltage. If in doubt, in-
quire at the energy provider responsible. The device must be grounded: via
the power supply or other appropriate measures.
The device must be secured by a building fuse of max. 16A to ensure safe
operation. Ensure that the power socket on the device or the line supply out-
let is freely accessible. The device can be disconnected from the line supply
by pulling the power cord.
For DC supply: the power supply voltage in the DC cable must match a con-
stant voltage classified as ES1 in accordance with EN62368-1. Before con-
necting the power supply cable, ensure you check the polarity of the power
supply voltage. When needed, a potential equalization for malfunction-free
operation may be necessary. With an external adapter, ensure that the
power supply circuit points on the device or the line supply outlet are freely
accessible. The device can be disconnected from the power supply by pulling
the power supply cable. Ensure that the cords are not a potential hazard
(tripping hazard) and cannot be damaged.
5Ambient conditions
Operation: +10°C —40°C
Storage: -20°C —60°C
Humidity: 10% —90%, no condensation formation.
Correct performance cannot be ensured outside of these parameters.
The values may fluctuate when used with an uninterruptible power supply -
UPS (see the user manual for a UPS).

6 Expansion and Repairs
EN_20_012_0043l
6Expansion and Repairs
The device may only be opened by authorized specialized personnel. Unau-
thorized opening or repairing the device improperly can lead to considerable
risks for the user, such as an electric shock or the risk of fire.
The power supply unit must not be opened for any reason! When fitted with
a UPS, the safety instructions for operating the UPS must be followed.
Expanding the device can alter the CE relevant properties to such a degree
that conformity with the valid standards is no longer guaranteed.
7Maintenance
The existing fan vents must be checked regularly (depending on the location)
for dirt and permeability and cleaned if necessary. All fans must be checked
1x per year.
8Battery
The main board is fitted with a battery. Only authorized technicians are per-
mitted to replace it.
There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced improperly the battery
should only be replaced with an identical or equivalent type recommended
by the manufacturer.
Used batteries must be disposed of via the CCR REBAT return device in ac-
cordance with local laws and regulations. The battery from the main board
must be changed every 4-8 years depending on the ambient conditions
(temperature, operating time).
9Additional safety instructions
Data transfer capabilities must neither be connected nor disconnected dur-
ing a storm.
LAN interface cables must not exceed 30m in length.
In an emergency situation (e.g. if the device or the line voltage is damaged
or if fluid or foreign bodies enter the device), pull the power cord and inform
your local retailer or our service.

Shutdown 7
EN_20_012_0043l
10 Shutdown
Systems without UPS can still carry voltage for up to 10 seconds after the
device has been unplugged from the line. The storage instructions must also
be observed.
11 Disposal
The electronic components used in the device, such as the main board, bus
board, hard drive, the power supply unit, etc., must not be disposed of as
domestic waste. Instead, they must be disposed of by appropriate specialist
companies.
In accordance with the requirements set down in the EU directive on Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment 2012/19/EU (WEEE Directive), this device
must be labelled with a WEEE logo in accordance with standard DIN EN
50419.

12 Other provisions
Keep these installation instructions with the device. These installation in-
structions should be included if the device is passed on to third parties.
In the version delivered, this device fulfils the requirements set down by the
EMC directive 2014/30/EC and LVD directive 2014/35/EC.
In its condition upon delivery, this device conforms to the conditions in the
RoHS directive (2011/65/EU) incl. 2015/863/EU) on the restriction of the use
of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference
when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equip-
ment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not in-
stalled and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment
in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the
user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense. This
class A digital device conforms to the Canadian "Interference-Causing Digital
Equipment Standard ICES-0003" stipulations and requirements.
These installation instructions are valid for the product families ZEISS Server.

function
Note the installation conditions described in chapters 2 and 3.
If you wish to install the ZEISS Server vertically, ensure that the footprint is
covered with the enclosed rubber pads (Figure 2/1).
It is important that the server footprint is always the right-side surface (the
side surface which lies on the side of the drive's changeable frame).
Ensure that the side surface is free of dust and grease before at-
taching the rubber pads.
Fig. 2: Rubber pads must be attached on the right side of the server
for installing the server upright
Proceed as follows when starting up the ZEISS Server:
1. Using the patch cable RJ45 S/FTP Cat5e, connect the server with
your local area network in which the server will be operated (Figure
3/1).
2. Connect the secondary circuit cable for the external power supply to
the ZEISS Server (Figure 3/2). Ensure that the connection is secure.
3. Connect the primary circuit cable to the power socket.
4. Start the server by pressing once on the "power" button (Figure 4/1).
5. Wait until the power symbol on the button glows blue or blue-cyan.
The server is now ready for use.
