Thank you for choosing the AlerteGPS G520, a real concentrate of the newest technologies.
Highlights of the G520 are :
- a 2 inches color display that shows the speed of your vehicle, the type of speed camera,
the distance between your vehicle and the speed control...
- a vocal warning system: vocal messages will warn you as you approach a speed control or a
dangerous zone
- the AlerteGPS European database, one of the most reactive databases.
The G520 combines the GPS and the GPRS technologies to be more powerful and flexible.The
updates are done automatically, there's no need to connect the device to a computer.
The Real Time Alert function (RTA, optional) allows you to send and receive mobile speed
cameras in REAL TIME!
Please read this manual carefully so that you can feel familiar with all functionalities of the
G520.

You can add the RTA functionality to your G520.
The RTA allows you to receive information about
mobile speed controls in real time.
If there's a mobile speed control on your way, you can also use
the RTA function to send the information to the user community.

Connector for external antenna:
Battery:
If your vehicle features an athermic windscreen,
you should use an external antenna in order to
ensure an optimal satellite connection (optional).
The battery is included in the box of the G520:
Place it in the device before you use the device.
Charge the battery completely before you use
the G520 for the first time.
Connect the G520 to the mains supply with
the included home charger.
In order to use the GPRS functionalities
(automatic updates, RTA), the battery
must be charged.
If the battery is low, please charge it before
you use the GPRS functionalities of the
G520.
Earphone:
USB connector:
Connect a mini-jack type earphone to use the G520
on a motorbike.
We recommend you to use an AlerteGPS biker kit
(optional).
Use the USB connector to:
- charge the battery with the home charger
- power the G520 using a cigar-lighter
- update the firmware of the G520
Joystick:

Joystick functionalities:
- call the menu and navigate through the different sections
- set the volume from the default screen or when an alert is
displayed
To validate a setting, simply press the joystick center.

Installing the G520
Important
Installing the G520 with an external antenna:
- fix the external antenna on the roof of your vehicle and make sure to place the cable inside
the cabin of the vehicle.
- connect the antenna to the external antenna connector of the G520.
Your vehicle may have an athermic windscreen which may affect the satellite connection.
In that case,you will need to use an optional external antenna.
- remove the device from the magnet before you leave your vehicle to avoid degradations and thefts
- climatic conditions may influence the satellite connection.
To avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, never leave the G520 on the dashboard.
Use only at temperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F).
Different holders are available for the G520. Depending on the holder you have purchased or on the way you will use your G520
(car, bike), the installation may differ from the illustration.

Then, the G520 will start to acquire satellite connection:
A vocal message will warn you when the satellite search is completed.
The satellite search is faster when the vehicle is stopped.

Updates
Full update package downloadable from :
http://www.alertegps.com
Updates are done automatically: You don't need to connect
your G520 to your computer to get the latest updates.
Firmware updates are released if necessary.
In that case, you should update your device to use the latest
firmware version.
You will need to use the G520 update software in order to update
the firmware.
