Ambient Devices products are designed to keep you informed with just a
glance. Our products create a seamless link between you and the information
you care about.
Ambient products operate on one of the largest and most reliable wireless
networks in the United States. We broadcast data from 8,000 towers to reach
over 90% of American households.
Your Market Maven receives updates several times per hour to give you
up-to-date nancial information wherever you are, whenever you need it.
Right out of the box, your device will receive information from the Dow,
NASDAQ, and the S&P 500. Just add batteries, wait for your rst update, and
you’re all set! Use the MARKET SELECT button to change which market’s data
is appearing on the graph.
Like all Ambient products, it’s also possible to personalize your Market Maven
to follow the stocks you care about most—turn your Market Maven into a
glanceable portfolio monitor!

Market Maven operation
GETTING STARTED IS EASY
1. Open the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER and insert three AAA batteries
(not included). Conrm that the batteries’(+) and (–) indicators are
properly aligned inside the compartment.
2. Place your Market Maven in an area where it receives a good signal. Check
the SIGNAL STRENGTH INDICATOR on the front of the device. If your signal
bars are intermittent or you’re only getting one bar, try moving towards
a window or going upstairs—two to three bars of signal strength are ideal.

ADJUSTING THE TIME
The unit automatically receives your regional time. If your time appears not to
be correct, you can adjust it.
• Toadjustthehour,usetheTIMEZONEbuttononthebackoftheunit.Press
down repeatedly until your desired time appears on the display.
USING THE STAND
Slide the LEG STAND into the back housing of the unit to make it freestanding.
3. When you see the NETWORK FOUND graphic, you’re all set—sit back,
relax, and wait for the next update. This could take up to an hour.
If you’ve waited an hour without receiving data, please see the
Troubleshooting Guide at the end of this booklet.
WHICH MARKET DO YOU WANT TO SEE?
Right out of the box, your Market Maven receives information from the Dow,
the NASDAQ, and the S&P 500. The market graph at the bottom of the screen
displays up-to-date summaries of the day’s activity. By default, the graph
monitors the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
• Tochangewhichmarket’sdataisappearingonthegraph,pressthe
MARKET SELECT button; the name of the market currently being shown is
displayed above the graph.

“NO COVERAGE” INDICATOR
This indicator will appear when your device has been unable to receive signal
for an extended period. Check our map at http://map.myambient.com to
ensure that your location receives coverage from our network.
“CONTACT AMBIENT DEVICES”INDICATOR
If this indicator lights up, there may be a problem with your device. Call us at
1-866-311-1999 or email us (please include your device’s serial number) at
BATTERY LOW INDICATOR
This battery-shaped graphic ashes when the device’s batteries will soon
need replacement.

outside of the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER.
• Whileupgrading,besureyourdeviceisreceivingagoodsignal—twoor
three bars is best.
• Oncetheupgradeprocessiscomplete,anupdatewillbeimmediatelysent
to your device, and it will automatically switch channels to show your new
Personalized Channel settings.
You must cancel the service if you do not want to continue. After the trial
period is up, a recurring subscription cost will be charged. There are no
cancellation fees, re-activation fees, or other fees other than the cost of
subscription. You can cancel by calling 1-866-311-1999 or by logging into your
account at www.myambient.com and selecting “Downgrade”.
Troubleshooting Guide
My Market Maven’s display is totally blank.
Conrm that the batteries are properly aligned with the (+) and (–) terminals,
and be sure to use fresh batteries.
Will this device work outside of the United States?
Sorry, at present we only broadcast from towers within the United States.
I put batteries in and now the clock just shows little dashes
This will happen until your Market Maven receives its rst update from our
transmitters. If this continues for more than an hour, try moving your Market
Maven to a location with better signal coverage, such as near a window or
upstairs. See our map at http://map.myambient.com to ensure your
region is covered.

I don’t see any bars next to the signal strength indicator
This means that you’re in an area that has poor reception. Try moving your
Market Maven closer to a window or upstairs. If you’ve moved all over the
house and still don’t get any bars of signal, go to http://map.myambient.com
to check your area for signal coverage.
If I don’t get any signal now, will upgrading to the Personalized
Channel help?
Nope. Unfortunately, upgrading to Personalized Channel won’t improve your
Market Maven’s ability to receive signal; it will only allow you to customize an
extra channel.
The time on my clock is an hour ahead / behind what it should be
Useapenoranotherthin,pointyobjecttopresstheTIMEZONEbuttononthe
back of the device until the proper time appears.
My clock’s time is correct, but it’s stuck showing data from yesterday
This is almost always the result of “lagging,” a condition that occurs when your
device is not receiving a consistently strong signal. If you notice this
happening, try changing the location where you usually keep the
Market Maven. We recommend that you keep it somewhere where it shows at
least two bars of signal strength.
What is“MY PORTFOLIO 1”?
This is the name of the customizable channel available on your device; it’s
capable of tracking up to 100 individual stocks of your choosing. For more
information, see the“Personal your Ambient Device” part of the manual or visit
our website at www.myambient.com.

I upgraded to a Personalized Channel but it didn’t show up on my device
Sometimes interference or poor signal strength can cause an upgrade
signal to be lost; please email your device’s serial number to
resync@ambientdevices.com or call us at 1-866-311-1999 to have another
update sent out. Please be sure your device has good signal strength when you
do this! It should have at least two bars showing in order to properly receive the
upgrade signal.
The Personalized Channel went away
If this happens, please email your serial number to
strong signal; we’ll resend our upgrade signal to your device.
What can I do to improve battery life?
Your Market Maven is designed to use very little battery power when it’s
receiving a strong signal. If it’s in an area with inconsistent or weak signal, it will
work harder to make sure it’s updating properly. The best thing you can do is
ensure it’s in an area where it receives three bars of signal strength.

2. Close attention is necessary when this unit is operated near children. Do not allow
children to play with this unit. It is not a toy.
3. Do not allow children to play with any plastic bags that accompany this unit. Plastic bags
may present a hazard to young children.

5. Never operate this unit if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged or
dropped into water.
6. The unit should be situated away from heat sources such as direct sunlight, radiators,
heat registers, stoves or other heat-producing appliances.
7. Never drop or insert objects into any openings.
8. Do not operate under blanket or pillow. Excessive heating can occur and cause re,
electric shock or injury.
9. Do not perform any servicing on the unit.
10. Do not try to disassemble unit. High voltage inside.

conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept
any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
LIMITED WARRANTY
AMBIENT DEVICES INC (“AMBIENT”) warrants that this Product, if properly used and installed,
will be free from defects in material or workmanship, and will substantially conform to
AMBIENT’s publicly available specications applicable to this Product for a period of one year
from the original date of purchase. If this Product is determined to be defective within the
warranty period, AMBIENT, at its option, will repair or replace the Product, or refund the then-
current value of the Product.
This warranty does not cover damage due to acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence,
everyday wear and tear, or modication of, or to any part of, the Product.

This warranty does not cover damage due to improper installation, operation and maintenance,
or attempted repair by anyone other than AMBIENT. This warranty is invalid if the factory-
applied serial number has been altered or removed from the Product. To obtain warranty
service, you must take the Product, or deliver the Product freight prepaid, in either its original
packaging or packaging aording an equal degree of protection, to AMBIENT. Proof of
purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice, which is evidence that the unit is
within the warranty period, must be presented to obtain warranty service.

1. Your device’s serial number, printed on the base or near the battery door of your

Like all wireless products, performance can vary based on location and environmental
conditions. Coverage areas are approximate. Coverage areas within a specied zone may
include locations with limited or no coverage, particularly near boundaries or in remote areas.
Existing signal coverage does not guarantee future coverage on a device. Actual coverage
may vary. Coverage can periodically be aected by signal availability and strength due to
several factors, which include (but are not limited to): network problems and changes, location
within a building, trac volume, service outages, technical limitations, signal strength, terrain,
structures, foliage, weather, atmospheric, geographic, topographic and other environmental
or external conditions that may interfere with actual service, quality and availability, including
the ability to make, receive and maintain signals. Although service is available in most US
metropolitan cities, service is not guaranteed in all areas. User agrees not to hold Ambient
