The Vampire V4+ is a computer delivered in a box adapted to the
electromagnetic standards in force.
The Vampire V4+ ships with the free ApolloOS and, for the ATARI-
Fans, with FreeMiNT/ EMUTOS.
No third party copyrighted material is part of this product.
Warning: If you want to dispose of this equipment, please do not
use the ordinary dust bin! Used electrical and electronic equipment
must be treated separately and in accordance with legislation that
requires proper treatment, recovery and recycling of used electrical
and electronic equipment.
2) Description
Your V4+ comes with CF-Adapter and CF-Card with preinstalled
ApolloOS, plug it in and enjoy the amiga-feeling.
The Vampire V4+ is an AMIGA compatible computer that uses
the Apollo-core which is compatible with the Motorola 68K
processors while outclassing them in performance. The Vampire
V4+ is equipped with the following connectors: a mini-USB port for
power, a micro SD connector, a video and digital audio output,
three USB connectors for keyboard, mouse and

Joypad, RJ45- Ethernet port and two DB9 connectors for Amiga
joystick or Amiga mouse.
The card has the following internal connectors: 3 Expansion ports
for future extensions, a RTC connector for a clock module, a 44-
pin IDE port for mass storage is used for CF/SD- Adapter+ card, a
a 40-pin IDE port, and a JTAG port for updating the core.
3) How to use & current state of the core
At the time of writing this manual, the core is in the following state:
 Ethernet: DMA accelerated Ethernet; drivers are included in
ApolloOS.
 USB: Support for some input devices like USB mice, Joypad
and keyboards. The list of compatible devices can be viewed at
www.apollo-computer.com:
 Joystick: Support of AMIGA Joystick (like Competition Pro on
the DB9 port.
 OCS/AGA: Many games and demos work perfectly.
This is continually improving.
 Boot drives: boot from IDE/CF or microSD. You can also use
microSD card for data exchange.
To reboot please press “STRG” +”BAT”+”STRG”

4) Using another OS
The V4 comes preinstalled with ApolloOS. You can use many other
operating systems like Amiga OS, EMUTOS and more. We
recommend to use the Apollo boot loader (www.apollo-
computer.com/support) for easy installation of different operating
systems.
5) Flashing the board
The Vampire V4+ can be updated to benefit the latest Core
improvements, such as new features, speed or compatibility
improvements.
The recommended way to install the FlashRom:
- Go with your V4 to the Internet (A-Web is preinstalled)
- download the latest STANDALONE_XXX.jic:
from www.apollo-computer.com
- Open a CLI at your V4.
- Run it by typing: VampireFlash Standalone_XXX.jic
- Confirm the operation by typing 'YES' (in CAPS) and RETURN.
- Wait until flashing is finished.
- Power Off your Vampire V4+ and wait 30 seconds.
- Power On your Vampire V4+.
Using the JTAG USB-Blaster: (Only for experts!!!)
When, for what ever reason, you have to use the USB-Blaster.
Please consult the picture (left) where an how to connect the JTAG.
(plug in the wrong way, might destroy your board !)
6) Data transfer
Micro SD-Slot: You can use the microSD card to transfer files from
your computer to the Vampire V4+. ApolloOS; FreeMiNT and some
AmigaOS distributions already have the integrated support of the
microSD.
Please follow the instructions on how to format the SDcard on
Apollo-computer.com.
Ethernet: V4 has ethernet support and drivers preinstalled. You
can use FTP and Webbrowsers (A-Web is preinstalled) for
Datatransfer downloads. SMB can be used to mount windows
shares.
USB: USB is for Data transfer not yet supported!

The Apollo V4 comes fully tested and ready to use, preinstalled
with ApolloOS. Please mind that the electronic components / chips
on the Vampire V4 are electrostatic sensitive devices and can be
damaged by electrostatic discharge. Only open the Vampire if you
wear an ESD protection wrist strap. Any damage due to
electrostatic discharge is excluded from the warranty. The Vampire
comes with a fully tested IDE-CF adapter and tested CF card.
Usage of other adapter or devices is on the risk of the user. Mind
that wrong inserting/plugin of IDE-adapters or Expansions can
cause an electronic shock harming the device. Any mechanical or
electrical damage to card is excluded from the warranty.
Always make sure to connect the included power cable to the PSU,
mixing it up with other cable, will result in boot problems and
crashes!
