1:
Introduction
The mPCI-4 is a highly integrated miniPCI adapter card for PC/104-
Plus
systems.
The mPCI-4 card supports up to 4 Type-III miniPCI cards in a single PC/104-
Plus
stack location and provides an ideal way of adding advanced functionality to
space constrained systems.
The mPCI-4 uses active PCI-PCI bridging to support 4x miniPCI cards in a single
PC/104-
Plus
stack location. This allows the mPCI-4 to consume only 1 set of PCI
resources and allows up to 4 mPCI-4 cards to be used in a system.
The mPCI-4 is an ideal partner to standard miniPCI cards such as wireless
Ethernet and to AMP’s range of miniPCI advanced compression boards. Compact
video compression or streaming systems can be constructed using AMP’s
microH264-D4 or microMPEG4-D4 compression cards and wireless can be easily
integrated using standard WLAN cards.

Ordering information
The following part number(s) can be used when ordering:
mPCI-4 4-slot miniPCI adapter (0 to 60 ºC).
mPCI-4-EXT 4-slot miniPCI adapter (-40 ºC to +85ºC)
Anti-static handling
The board(s) supplied contain electrostatic components that are susceptible to
permanent damage from electrostatic discharge (static electricity). To prevent
electrostatic discharge, the boards are supplied in anti-static packaging.
When handling a board, observe the following anti-static precautions to alleviate
risk of damage:
▪Remove the board(s) from the packaging only when you are working on an
anti-static, earthed surface and wearing an anti-static wrist strap.
▪Retain the anti-static packaging that the board(s) were supplied in. If you
remove a board from a system, store it in this packaging.
RoHS compliance
The European RoHS Directive (Restriction on the use of certain Hazardous
Substances –Directive 2002/95/EC) limits the amount of six specific substances
within the composition of the product. The mPCI-4 is RoHS-6 compliant.

LEVEL –links 1-2 and 3-4
Used for IDSEL card selection.
The setting of the first two links on the LEVEL header determine the logical stack
position of the mPCI-4 on the PC/104
-Plus
stack. This setting routes the
appropriate IDSEL, PCICLK, REQ and GNT signals to the PCI bridge chip on the
mPCI-4.
