Introduction
1.1 Overview
Figure 1-1 Flexpedient®AT80 Rugged Tablet
The Flexpedient®AT80 Rugged Tablet is an Android-based rugged tablet with an 8” touch
optically bonded LCD screen. At the heart of the system is the Texas Instrument OMAP
4470 Dual-core 1.5GHz CPU. Wireless communication technologies include 802.11b/g/n
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an option for Optional 3G Module Cinteron LGA PXS8. Other
features include back and front 5-megapixel cameras, a micro SD card slot, a USB2.0
Host/OTG port, 3.5 mm headset jack and two 1 watt IP67 speakers.

1.3 Front Panel
The front panel of the AT80 has an optically bonded 8-inch (1024×768) LCD with a 5-megapixel
front camera.

1.4 Rear Panel
The rear panel is the location of a 5-megapixel camera. It is also the location for
personalized logos.

The left side panel contains a 1 watt IP67 speaker.

1.6 Right Panel
The left side panel contains a power jack, USB OTG port, Micro SD card reader, head phone jack,
sliding door, and a speaker. The closed sliding door protects Micro SD card reader and head
phone jack.

Unpacking

To unpack the Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet follow the steps below:
WARNING!
Remove the protective plastic cover stuck to the front screen after receiving.
The plastic layer protects the display surface during shipping.
Step 1: Carefully cut the tape sealing the box. Only cut deep enough to break the tape.
Step 2: Open the box.
Step 3: Lift the Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet out of the box.
Step 4: Pull the plastic cover off the Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet.
Step 5: Make sure all the components listed in the packing list are present. Step0:
The Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet is shipped with the following components. If any of these
items are missing or damaged, contact the distributor or sales representative immediately.

Installation
3.1 Charging Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet Battery
Every Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet is shipped with a fully charged battery. See instructions in
Section 4.1 for powering the tablet and charging the battery.

3.2 Powering On/Off
Powering On:
To power on/off the Flexpedient®AT80 Rugged Tablet, please follow the steps below:
1) Press the Power button (1 to 2 seconds) to turn on your tablet. Prolonged pressing
is NOT necessary. (See Figure 3-3 below)
2) Every Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet is shipped with an Android 4.3 (Jelly bean)
operating system installed. There is no installation wizard.
3) Every Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet is shipped with a fully charged battery. It is
recommended that you check the power image in the upper right hand corner of
the tablet’s display to determine whether or not your battery needs charging.

4) The battery is designed to be replaced only by a certified AMREL employee. The
Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet must be sent to AMREL in order for a battery to be
replaced. See Appendix C for instructions on returning a tablet to AMREL.

Powering Off:
Press power button until box appears.
Select power off.
Select OK.

NOTE:
When the Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet is powered on, press the power
button once to suspend the Flexpedient®AT80 Tablet. To resume
operation from the suspend mode, press the power button once.
