SAFETY WARNING
Safety Regulations
This machine has been designed with a number of built-in safety devices. To avoid injury, it
is highly important not to bypass or disable these safety devices. Operators and maintenance
personnel must undergo safety training for the machine. All personnel who handle chemicals
for washing and disinfection must understand the washing process, possible health hazards
and ways of detecting leaks of toxic chemicals. Operators and maintenance personnel must
undergo regular training in the operation and maintenance of the equipment. There must be
a documented list of personnel who have been trained on the machine. Trained personal must
be tested to verify the training program.
General Safety Regulations
• You must read and fully understand this manual before using the machine.
• The equipment must only be used by personnel who know about it and are trained
to use it. Personnel must also receive regular training on this equipment.
Documents which state the names of the personnel who took part in and
understood the training must be archived.
• Never use the machine if you are not sure how to operate it.
• The machine must be kept clean if it is to work properly.
• The electric power must be switched off before the machine cabinet is opened.
(The machine cabinet contains electrical components).
• Always use the equipment in accordance with the local regulations.
• Always connect the equipment via an RCD (residual current device).
• Always use a grounded power supply for the machine.
• Do not place items that are sensitive to heat or moisture on top of the machine.
• Do NOT use unapproved accessories or attempt to modify, disassemble or
otherwise misuse the Slop Hopper system. Failure to observe this caution could
result in injury, or in extreme cases, death.
Slop Hopper Installation
The machine must be assembled and installed by qualified personnel in accordance with
current local regulations and rules.
Caution
Do not wash down or hose down the machine with water.
Caution
To avoid the risk of back injury, this equipment should be
assembled and installed by two people.

5
When the work is complete, check that:
• All parts have been installed in accordance with the installation instructions.
• All screws have been properly tightened.
• There are no sharp edges or cracks on any parts that may come into contact with
people.
• All hoses, pipes and connections are intact and free from defects.
• All the functions of the machine are working correctly. Adjust if necessary.
Isolator Switch
The machine must be fitted with a separate isolating device in the electric power supply. The
isolating device must be easily accessible on a wall close to the machine. The external
electrical isolator switch must be marked “I” and “O” to identify the position of the switch.
Environmental Protection
Incorrect disposal of this equipment and its component parts, particularly batteries or other
electrical components, may produce substances that are hazardous to the environment. To
minimise these hazards, contact Arjo for information on correct disposal.

1. Introduction
About this Manual This manual is your introduction to the Slop Hopper.
You must read and fully understand this manual before
using the system.
Use this manual to initially set up the system, and keep
it as a reference for day-to-day routines and as a guide to
maintenance.
If you have any difficulties using the Slop Hopper,
contact your local Arjo sales office, listed at the end of
this manual.
Intended Use The Slop Hopper is designed to flush away liquids and
suspensions of solids into the sewer system using an
integrated booster pump.
This process is activated by a hand-actuated or
optionally by a knee-actuated button installed in the
front area of the Slop Hopper.
The pump is turned on by the integrated control system
and conveys the water from the water tank being filled
via a floating valve into the slop hopper. This pump will
be disconnected automatically after the tank has been
pumped down.
Hand button

7
A float switch installed at the water tank avoids an
overfilling of the tank by turning on the pump and
emptying the tank in case of level exceeding.
How to Use Pour the waste into the bowl.
Flush the residue of the waste by pushing the hand
button on the front of the unit or, if fitted, the knee-
actuated button.
The flush will stop automatically.
The Slop Hopper is designed to flush away liquids and
suspensions of solids into the sewer system. The type
and amount of liquids/suspensions that can be flushed is
to be determined by sewer waste regulations in
accordance with current local regulations and rules.
The Slop Hopper should not be used for the disposal of
needles and syringes, human tissues or blood, human
infections and pathological wastes (i.e. biopsy waste,
diseased organs).
Cleaning The Slop Hopper should be cleaned and disinfected
regularly by Arjo trained personnel. Most commercially
available cleaning products can be used except chlorine
based products.
Caution
Never use products containing chlorine, abrasives or steel wool for
the cleaning since such products will lead to corrosion marks and
scratches on the stainless steel.
Do not spray the appliance with water.

8
Components The Slop Hopper mainly consists of the following
components.

2. Installation and Setup
Unpacking Remove the packaging.
The folder containing documentation must accompany
the Slop Hopper when it is delivered.
+Before installing the Slop Hopper, check it for
damage in transit.
Installation Carry out the installation in the following order:
1. Measure up and drill the holes for securing the
machine to the wall.
2. Fit the trap to the waste outlet. The trap can be
connected towards the rear or downwards. The pipe
diameter is 75mm.
3. Position the Slop Hopper and level it with a spirit
level held vertically against the side of the machine.
4. Fix the Slop Hopper to the wall. Use suitable
screws and washers for the material of the wall.
+The wall finish must be smooth, non absorbent
and easy to clean.
5. Apply a silicone bead around the outer edge and
floor of the Slop Hopper.
6. Connect the water supplies. The connections must
satisfy the requirements for water connection in
accordance with the table below:
+The pipes must be fitted with an approved ½”
shutoff valve. Seal all connections with PTFE tape.
7. Carry out the electrical installation as follows:
• Install the Slop Hopper in accordance with
installation category CAT II.
• If it is necessary to pass the electrical cables
through the Slop Hopper casing, drill a slot to
accept the 15mm inner sleeve of the grommet.
Fit the grommet and pull the cables through.
• Connect the Slop Hopper to a separate isolator
switch approved to local standards.
+The isolator switch must be mounted on the
wall close to the machine.

• Connect the Slop Hopper to protective grounding
and to the supply voltage stated on the type plate.
+Check that the connection has suitable
overcurrent protection. The correct fuse
rating is stated on the type plate.
• All cables must be classified for at least 90°C.
8. Perform the following function check on the Slop
Hopper after installation.
• Check that the Slop Hopper is connected to the
correct supply voltage and that it is protected by
a fuse of the correct rating as shown on the type
plate.
• Check that the temperature of the incoming
mains water is correct. The temperature must be
in the range 3 - 25°C.
• Check that there are no water leaks. Tighten
connections and pipe couplings.

11
3. Maintenance
Servicing The Slop Hopper should be serviced by Arjo trained
personnel.
Cleaning the Water
Filter
The water filter is located at the inlet of the floating
valve. Clean the water filter as follows:
• Turn off the water supply by using the upstream
arranged shutoff unit.
• Disconnect the pressure hose from the floating
valve.
• Remove the filter insert from the floating valve
with the aid of pliers.
• Clean and check the filter. Replace the filter if
necessary.
• Replacement is the reverse of the above
procedure.
Cleaning the
Drainage Tubing
If the drainage tubing is blocked, check and clean the
drainage of the Slop Hopper. If this has not cleared the
blockage, the drainage pipe has to be dismounted and
cleaned as follows:
• Turn off the water supply by using the upstream
arranged shutoff unit.
• Detach the clamp connecting drainage pipe to the
Slop Hopper. Pull the siphon trap drown and
remove from the appliance. Clean the siphon
trap.

• Replacement is the reverse of the above
procedure.
Care The Slop Hopper has to be cleaned and disinfected
regularly. For removing spots, use commercially
available cleaning products for chrome steel.

Caution
Never use products containing chlorine, abrasives or steel wool for
the cleaning since such products will lead to corrosion marks and
scratches on the stainless steel.
Do not spray the appliance with water.
