1. Introduction
1.1 Overview
ASUS AX-125/145 is an RFC3261/SIP compliant VoIP terminal adapter with NAT/
Firewall functions. The main chip of AX-125/145 has a built-in and standalone high
speed DSP to provide high audio quality and echo cancellation without occupying
the CPU power. This means the CPU can provide better performance of Ethernet
services in such a highly integrated and compact size box.
AX-125/145 can work with all RFC3261 compliant devices or SIP servers to
provide voice communication service and share broadband service with other
devices connected to the AX-125/145 LAN port.
1.2 AX-125/145 Features

2.2 Rear panel features

Features
1. Power/5V/2A DC port)
Connects the AX-125/145’s power adapter to a power source.
2. Phone1-Phone4/RJ-11 port
Connects the device to an analog phone set.
3. Line/RJ11 port
Connects the LINE port of AX-125/145 to a phone network (or PSTN line).
4. WAN/RJ-45 port
Connects the device to an ADSL modem or an IP sharer.
5. LAN1-LAN4/RJ-45 port
Connects the device to a PC, Notebook, or other devices to share broadband service.

2.3 Hardware connection
1. Use a Category 5 (Cat 5) Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port of AX-125/145 with
the uplink port of yourADSL modem or router.
2. Use another Cat 5 Ethernet cable to connect your PC or Notebook to the LAN port of
AX-125/145.
3. Use a phone cable to connect a phone set to the PHONE port of AX-125/145.
4. (Optional) If necessary, use another phone cable to connect the LINE port of AX-125/145
to a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) jack.
5. Connect the power adapter to the DC port ofAX-125/145 to a power source.

2.4 Reset/Reboot button
Reset/Reboot button
The Reset/Reboot button, located at the front panel, has two (2) functions:
• Reset to factory default settings
To reset the device to its factory default settings, press the Reset /Reboot
button at least ve (5) seconds using a sharp pointed object such as a pen.
• System reboot
To reboot the device, short press and quickly release the Reset/Reboot button using a
sharp pointed object such as a pen.
2.5 LAN IP Assignment
By default, the AX-125/145 LAN IP address is set to 192.168.1.1 with subnet mask
255.255.255.0. You can change the LAN IP address for AX-125/145 via the WEB
GUI or the Interactive Voice Response (IVR).
Assigning LAN IP via IVR
To assign LAN IP via IVR
1. On the phone1, dial "****" to enter the IVR main menu.
2. Enter the commands to check or set the LAN IP. Refer to Table 1 for the
command codes.
NOTE: You can only assign LAN IP via IVR on Phone1.

Setting up your IP address
To obtain an IP address automatically
Basically, setting your Network Interface to "Obtain an IP address automatically"
enables you to obtain an IP address via the DHCP protocol. Otherwise, you must
congure your Network Interface manually.
To congure an IP address manually
To set your IP address manually, you need to know the following settings:

TCP/IP Properties in your Network

3. Conguration Guide
This chapter gives you instructions on conguring the AX-125/145 using the web
Graphics User Interface (GUI).
3.1 Entering the AX-125/145's GUI
To enter the AX-125/145's GUI, follow these steps:
Default settings

Enter the Gateway IPin a web browser. In
this example, enter http://192.168.1.1
After logging in, the ASUS AX-125/145’s default page is displayed.
The default page displays the system’s status information, as well quick links to congure the
main features of AX-125/145.

3.2 Conguration options
The AX-125/145's GUI enables you to congure the following:
• WAN: Enables you to configure the Internet
connection mode (DHCP, Static IP, or PPPoE),
and the DDNS services.
• LAN: Enables you to define the LAN IP
(Gateway IP and netmask), and disable/enable
the DHCP service.
• VoIP: Enables you to configure the Session
Initiation Protocol (SIP) settings such as SIP
contact port, NAT traversal; configure the SIP
server information; assign call function and
set up phone book settings; configure the
codec settings for your VoIP call function; and
congure other miscellaneous settings for your
VoIP call function.
• Firewall: Allows you to enable/disable the basic
rewall functions such as DOS attack ltering,
port scan detection, and ICMP echo reply.
• NAT: Allows you to configure the Network
Address Translation (NAT) function settings
such as IP share, DMZ host, port redirect, and port trigger.
• Traffic Control: Enables you to configure the allowable upload/download
bandwidth during an active VoIP call. The AX-125/145 has two Quality of
Service (QoS) modes: Policy mode, and Custom rule mode.
• Management: Enables you to configure administrative settings such as
enabling/disabling web access allowed from WAN side; GUI authentication to
prevent unauthorized login; upgrading the AX-125/145's rmware; restoring the
AX-125/145's system to factory default settings; restoring or keeping backup of
the AX-125/145 system's conguration; and keeping records of log events.

3.2.1 WAN Settings
To congure the WAN settings
NOTE: If your ISP require you to specify the MAC address for authentication,
check Clone Mac under Link Setup and enter the MAC address.
1. From the menu, click WAN -> Setting. The WAN/Setup screen is displayed.
2. Select the access type you want to congure. There are three (3) access types:
DHCP client, Static IP, and PPPoE.
WARNING: The WAN access type MUST be configured correctly. If you are
not sure how to congure the WAN parameters, contact your Internet Service
Provider (ISP) for your WAN details.
3. When done, click Apply to save the WAN settings.

3.2.2 VLAN Tag
To enable the AX-125/145 VLAN Tag function
1. From the menu, click WAN -> VLAN Tag and check on the service Enable
button.
2. Enter the VLAN ID and priority code.
4. When nished, click Apply.

3.2.3 DDNS
If you need a domain name to access the AX-125/145's GUI, you may enable the
AX-125/145's DDNS function.
To enable the AX-125/145 DDNS function
1. From the menu, click WAN -> Dynamic DNS and check on the service Enable
button.
2. Select the DDNS service type from the drop down list. The AX-125/145
supports these six (6) DDNS services:
• DynDNS : www.dyndns.org
• ChangeIP : www.changeip.com
• easyDNS : www.easydns.com
• No-Ip : www.no-ip.com
• euroDNS : www.eurodns.com
• DtDNS : www.dtdns.com
3. Enter the Domain Name, User Name, and Password for the Service type.
To register your domain name, visit the website of one of the DDNS providers
listed above.
4. When nished, click Apply.

3.3 LAN
3.3.1 Setting
To congure the LAN settings
1. Click LAN -> Setting and enter the IP address and Netmask.
2. When done, click Apply.
3.3.2 DHCP Server
To enable DHCP service
1. Click LAN - > DHCP Server. The DHCP server screen is displayed.
3. Check the service Enable button. Enter the neccessary information such as IP
range, and lease time for the DHCP server.
4. Click Apply when done.
Enable the DHCP server function only if there is no other DHCP server in your
network environment.

3.3.3 DNS Proxy
To enable DNS proxy
1. From the menu, click LAN -> DNS Proxy.
2. Check the service Enable checkbox.
3. Select from these two (2) options:
• Insert LAN IP to DHCP server's rst DNS record when enabled
When you choose this option, AX-125/145 automatically inserts the rst DNS IP
you dened to all DHCP clients request. You can dene the DNS IP information
in the DHCP Server configuration page. Refer to 3.3.2 DHCP Server for
details.
• Redirect all DNS query to us
When you choose this option, all DNS query packets are redirected from all
devices connected in LAN to AX-125/145 DNS.
4. When done, click Apply.
3.3.4 uPnP
The AX-125/145 supports Universal Plug and Play (uPnP). To enable the uPnP
function, click LAN -> uPnP and check the service Enable checkbox.

3.4 VoIP
3.4.1 System Setting
To congure the basic Session Initation Protocol (SIP) settings, follow these steps:
1. From the menu, click VoIP -> System Setting. The VoIP System Setting
screen is displayed.
2. Congure these settings:
• SIP contact port: Assign the SIP listen port. Default is 5060.
• NAT Traversal: Enable/Disable STUN option. If enabled, assign the STUN
service provider’s IP address and port number.
• RTP port: You can assign the port range allowed to be used for SIP RTP
packets. This function could be useful when there is a router connected
between AX-125/145 and the Internet access, or you want to control ports
usage of the Internet environment.
• IVR language: You can choose the IVR voice prompt language type.
Currently, Chinese and English are supported.
• DNS Query Timeout: It sets the DNS query timeout. When the network
situation is bad, increasing this value increases the call-out success rate.
• Stun Query Timeout: This option is useful when the NAT Traversal is
enabled. When the network situation is bad, increasing this value increases the
call-out success rate.

3.4.2 SIP server
To set up SIP server information
1. From the menu, click VoIP -> SIP Server.
2. Congure the following settings:
• Server address: Enter the SIP server IP address or domain name for
registration.
• Registration expiration: Assign a time interval value for SIP re-registration.
AX-125/145 will send out registration packets again when it reached this time
interval.
• Domain name: Enter the domain realm for SIP registration if the SIP server
requests this parameter.
• Outbound proxy address/Port: If your SIP server provider use “Outbound
proxy” to relay SIP packets, enter the outbound proxy server IP address or
domain name and the port number it uses.
• Phone number/Display name: These parameters are provided by your
Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP), the SIP server will use it as your
phone number caller ID.
• User name/Password: These parameters are also provided by your ITSP,
and they are used for registration authentication.
