1 INSTALLATION
To install YouPlay on your pc, run the install shield
Press NEXT when requested

When you click the INSTALL button, the setup will install YouPlay and come other important components, as
CG Composer, CG Samples and Multimediapack.
After all the installations, it will show the following window:
Click finish to complete the setup. It will show a window that confirm that the installation is complete

2.1 RUN THE SOFTWARE
When you launch the YOUPLAY icon, it will show the following screen
Clicking on PLAYLIST the screen will change showing the playlist module

It is possible to choose between two different playlist displays: NORMAL and LIST.
The following image shows the LIST display:
The following image shows the NORMAL display:
It is possible to run multiple instances of YouPlay also if the dongle contains only one licence. The main
instance will be the playout, while the other instances can be used to preview (on VGA) and edit clips that
can be dragged and drop into the main playout after editing (keeping the mark in and mark out points set on
the second instance).

2.2 HOW TO INSERT A CLIP ON THE PLAYLIST
There are four different ways to add a clip to the list:
1. Click on the button, then browse the clip in windows mode
2. Open the clip folder, then drag and drop it into the playlist space (right part of the screen)
3. Open the clip folder, then drag and drop it on the preview space (left part of the screen)
4. Use the APPEND CLIP button . WARNING: the APPEND CLIP button will put the clip AT
THE END of the playlist
5. Drag and drop from another YouPlay instance (If you keep pressed the CTRL, the clip will be copied
and past, otherwise the clip will be moved)
2.3 PLAYLIST MANAGEMENT OPTIONS
Open a previously saved playlist
The playlist format that can be used with YouPlay are:
.TXT –It is possible to edit manually the playlist using a notepad and listing the paths of the clips
Example of a .TXT playlist:
.LST –Playlist format by YouPlay. When you save a playlist with YouPlay, it will be in .LST format
.XSC –Playlist made with Xscheduler (scheduler software of XTV suite by Axel Technology)
.FCPXML –Playlist made with Final Cut Pro
.XML –Playlist made with Final Cut
Save the current YouPlay playlist in an external .LST file. Choose the desired file location and open it
when you will need it again.
Delete all the clips from the playlist.
If enabled, when a clip will be played, it will be deleted from the playlist.

Add the entire content of a folder to the playlist
Shows as first element of the playlist the one currently on air
It is possible to set a WATCHFOLDER, that is a folder where you can constantly check the presence of new
clips and insert them quickly. WATCHFOLDER is very useful to add new contents to a program (e.g.
newscasts) after a few minutes that the clip is recorded.
If enabled, checks the presence of new files on the WATCHFOLDER.
Use this button to set the path of the desired WATCHFOLDER
When this button turns to yellow, it means that there are new clips on the WATCHFOLDER.
Clicking on this button all the new clips inside the WATCHFOLDER will be inserted on the playlist.
NB The clips can be moved inside the playlist using drag and drop feature.
2.3.1 PLAYLISTS SCHEDULER
Through this button will be possible to create a schedule with all the desired .lst playlists.
From this scheduler it will be also possible to decide the exact playing time for each .lst playlist.
By clicking it, you will activate PLAYLISTS SCHEDULER.
When it is ON, the button will turn to yellow
Press the settings wheel at the bottom-right to enter in the following scheduler tab:
At the right side of the window you could find all the buttons for the schedule management:
press it to add a .lst playlist line for the current schedule.
A single .lst playlist line of the current schedule could be moved up or down by dragging it in the desired schedule
position.

Select the desired .lst playlist line to be deleted and press Remove.
It is possible to import a previously created complete schedule by clicking on Import.
Then select the schedule saved in .LSTS format from the window that appears to open it here.
It is possible to save the entire schedule by clicking on Export. Add all the desired .lst playlists lines and press
Export to save your current schedule in .LSTS format with the desired and customized file name.
Through this button a check is performed on the playlists added to the scheduler.
The presence of files in the indicated paths is re-checked, their individual durations are re-checked and the different
durations, from those currently displayed, are updated with new ones.
If a schedule line turns red it means the playlist-file is not found in the displayed path like the following example:
If a schedule line turns yellow it means the playlist STARTIME is set before the ENDTIME of the previous playlist like the
following example:
If a schedule line is white coloured it means that all is OK:
NB: this coloring of the scheduler lines is independent of the TYPE parameter that can be set on WAIT or CUT
To align the STARTIMES of the clips with the ENDTIMES of the previous ones press ALIGN.
The UPDATE button performs both the Sync button and the Align button operations.
With UPDATE button it is also synchronized the selected playlist STARTIME with the YOUPLAY-PC.
This is the line of the column headers:
In this column you will find the playlist file StartTime. It is possible to edit it by doubleclicking
on the playlist StartTime in this tab.
In this column you will find the playlist file EndTime, calculated in accordance with file
duration. The parameter displays the result of an automatic calculation and it is not editable.
In this column you can read the playlist title.
In this column you can read the path of the playlist

In this column you can read the playlist duration.
In this column you can read the playlist type. It is possible to edit it by doubleclicking on the playlist TYPE
in this tab. You can choose between WAIT and CUT.
- in the event that the STARTTIME of the playlist is set before the ENDTIME of the previous one
and
If WAIT is selected, the playlist ignores its own STARTTIME and it waits for the end of the previous
one.
- in the event that the STARTTIME of the playlist is set before the ENDTIME of the previous one
and
if CUT is selected, the playlist does not wait for the end of the previous one, but cuts the previous
one and starts at the established STARTTIME.
This descriptor shows to the user the number of clips inside the Playlist
By clicking on OK you confirm the PLAYLISTS SCHEDULER changes and settings. Changes will be immediately
applied.
HOW TO PREPARE A CLIP TO BE PLAYED
All the clips with the green button are ready to be played.
The different colours give information about the state of the clip:
GREEN = Ready
YELLOW = Preparing
RED = Error
To prepare a clip ready to be played, click on the button. The CUE button will change into PLAY
button to show that the clip is ready to be played.
It is possible to prepare ALL the clips of the playlist by enabling the button WARNING: Preparing
ALL the clips will cause a larger use of memory and the system could become slower.
It is also possible to select some clips to be ready by clicking on the button.
2.4 CLIPS OPTIONS
Here a description of all the options that can be applied to the clips on the playlist

Loop mode. The clip will be played continuously.
Cue mode. The clip will always be ready to be played.
First Frame. This button appears only if the clip is ready to be played. It allows to put on air the first frame.
Insert a new playlist item. Click on the arrow to open a submenu with the options (File, NDI, URL, Live)
Delete the clip from the playlist.
The DEFAULT button will open the following menu:
Use this menu to define the clip FIELDS.
NB: It is possible to change the fields of the clip while the clip is on air
The PRESERVE AR button will open the following menu:
Use this menu to modify Aspect Ratio and Stretch Mode of a single clip without changing the default settings of your TV
station.
NB: It is possible to change Aspect Ratio and Stretch mode of the clip while the clip is on air
The NO STOP button will open the following menu:
Use this menu to choose how to stop the clip

Right clicking on a clip on the playlist, it will show the following menu:
Rename a clip
choose the gain level for the volume
Copy or past a clip
This option will show all the info about the clip
Open the folder where the clip is located.

2.5 PLAYOUT OPTIONS
On the left of the screen there is the playout panel.
The playout panel is composed by the following sections and controls:
Clip preview. Double click on the preview will run
the clip on Windows Media Player
Play the clip. This button will change into PAUSE while the clip is playing.
Stops the clip while playing.

Back to the previous clip/restart clip. NB: If you click this button before 3 seconds from the start, it comes back
to the previous clip, after 3 seconds it will restart the current clip.
Next clip.
Sets the markIn point.
Sets the markOut point.
Enables the audio preview
With this button you can send a remote command to an external device or to an external software(like Tricaster,
Xrouter, BlackMagic VideoHub and BlackMagic ATEM) by choosing between one of the available.
In this example we have set for a Pause command to send to Axel - XROUTER software:
It is possible to set available commands by adding, editing or removing them in the Settings > Commands section.
Allows to play the clip slower or faster.
Move the cursor to the left (for a slower play) or to the right (for a faster play). To come back to the normal speed, click
on the PLAY button.
With these two sliders you can crop the Playout in realt ime.
V slider crops the playout vertically
min cropping value = 0
max cropping value = 100
H slider crops the playout horizontally
min cropping value = 0
max cropping value = 100
After changes the crop will be immediately applied.
Applies the markin and markout changes.
Remove actual markers.
If enabled, plays the whole playlist continuously, always respecting the stop mode set on the single clips.
ONE AT A TIME MODE: If enabled, it will stop playing at the end of the clip. WARNING: when this function is
enabled, all the stop mode of the clips will be disabled and the No Stop option on the clips will be hidden.

Loop mode. The clip will be played in loop until the clip will be stopped or the One At aTime mode will be
enabled.
Show or hide the .acg page with graphics(To enable this powerful feature go to: Settings > Playout > Logo /
Graphics > CG (more CPU usage) has to be checked)
In the next example
- we previously set an .acg page
- we selected it in the list by opening the arrow in CG button
- we activated CG button until it turned to yellow.
This button allows the YOUPLAY CHANNEL to be controlled by an external mixer (like Atem or Tricaster device)
by choosing between one of the available. It is possible to set the external mixer parameters by entering in the Settings >
Remote > Mixer section.
If enabled, it stops the clip on the first frame of the next clip. NB It can be enabled only if ONE AT A TIME MODE
is enabled.
Shows the next clip on the playlist
Playout cursor. It is possible to move it to search a
particular point on the clip.
Realtime Volume Control. By moving the slider up or down it is possible to change the clip volume even if
the clip is running.
click on this button to enter in the youplay channel settings.
this button expands / reduces playlist section on the right side.

2.6 RECORDER OPTIONS
This is the current point of the clip
This is the duration from the start of the current segment, after
the pression of the button
Monitoring area of the current REC
OSD= Total Time and recording state.
TC = TimeCode. Enable the visualization of the TimeCode in the
capture
By clicking on the time label, you can change between Segment
Duration or Total Duration

Change or correct the audio level of the current clip in rec.
Dropped frames. The Max value is settable from settings
Recording parameters
IDR = Instant
ADR = Average
If NDI is enable, it is possible to choose the Video Line-In.
Allows to listen the audio of the rec from the default Windows
audio card.
Adds an IP stream.
By clicking the gear you can open the setting form where is
possible to define the streaming profile.
The Switch button creates a new video segment and close the
previous one.

Split time (minutes)
