Open the door on the bottom of the Receiver -
just put your thumb on the grip lines on the
door, press gently, and pull. The MAC address is
inside the bottom of the door. Write down the
MAC address of your Receiver here (if it's not
here already) and store it with these directions.
MAC Address
If you don't have an account on AyrMesh.com,
create one now using a device connected to your
network (not a cellphone unless it's connected to
your router via WiFi):

2Assemble the ReceiverC and initialize
A. The door of your
Receiver should already
be open; if it's not, please
open it:
B. Plug an Ethernet cable into either port on
the Receiver - slide in until it clicks in place:
C. Click the other end of the Ethernet cable
into the port on the power supply marked
"POE":
D. Use another Ethernet cable to connect
the LAN port of the power supply to one of
the LAN ports on your router.
E. Plug the power
supply into the wall:
This is how the
setup should look:
F. The Power light should be
on; the signal lights will go
on and o, then the Wireless
light should also start
blinking:

CONNECTORS IN OR
OUT OF PORTS!

Make Sure ReceiverC is Working
The signal lights (4 top lights) will start out
"running" from bottom to top (or left to right if it's
laying down). When the Receiver has checked in to
AyrMesh.com, just the top signal light will be on, as
well as either the "LAN" or "WAN" light.
Receiver checking in
It usually takes about 1-2 minutes for the
Receiver to check in and show up on
AyrMesh.com, but sometimes it takes a bit
longer. If it hasn't shown up after 5 minutes, try
adding it manually with the MAC address:

The Receiver should be mounted outside, up high, and
pointed at the nearest Hub (unless the Hub is within
400 yards - point it at right angles to the Hub if it is
mounted close).
Maximum range for the Receiver depends on having
clear line-of-sight to the Hub. With clear line-of-
sight, it will work up to 2 miles away.
The Receiver can be mounted to a at surface with two
screws, or to a pole with the included steel band.
Click the Ethernet cable from the Power Supply into
either Ethernet port on the bottom of the Receiver.
Carefully put the door back on the Receiver - make
sure the cable is in one of the cutouts in the bottom of
the Receiver.
When mounting the Receiver, make sure to leave a
"Drip Loop" in the cable where it enters the building
so water does not run down the cable to the power
supply.

Using the AyrMesh Receiver is extremely simple: just
plug whatever indoor device you want to have join your
network into the "LAN" port of the Receiver's power
supply. For instance, to connect a computer or other
device to the AyrMesh Receiver, just run an Ethernet
cable from the camera to the Receiver's Power Supply
LAN port. You can also connect an Ethernet Switch to
provide additional ports. To use the Receiver to
connect an outside device, just connect it to the open
Ethernet port on the bottom of the Receiver. NOTE:
the Receiver does NOT provide power (PoE) for
external devices.
DO NOT TRY TO USE A ROUTER FOR INDOOR
WIFI. A second router will commonly cause an IP
address conict, bringing your entire network to a
halt. A wireless router can be used this way, but it must
be congured in "access point" mode (if available) or
with a separate IP subnet.

Troubleshooting
7
• NO LIGHTS ON
- make sure power supply light is on steady (not pulsing or blinking); if not, make sure power cable is
fully plugged into power supply and into the wall plug. Make sure the wall plug has power. If power supply
won't light up, contact Ayrstone support.
- check cables: make sure all cables are fully clicked into place; use a known-good short Ethernet cable
(available at most hardware stores).
• SIGNAL LIGHTS CONTINUE TO "CHASE" AND/OR HUB DOES NOT CHECK IN TO
AYRMESH.COM DURING INITIALIZATION
- Make sure your router has Internet access
- If Hub does not appear in your account, enter the MAC address into your account on AyrMesh.com
by hand.
• RECEIVER DOES NOT CONNECT TO HUB
- Make sure Hub's signal is strong enough - within 2 miles with good line-of-sight
- Double-check to make sure Receiver appears in your AyrMesh.com account, indicating that it
successfully initialized. If not, re-initialize (connect to router)
• NETWORK CRASHES AFTER AYRMESH DEVICE ADDED
- Check for another router - do not use secondary routers on your network unless you understand IP
networking, especially subnets and NAT.
- Check for static addresses on your network - do not use static IP addresses on devices in your network;
use DHCP reservations instead to avoid IP address conicts. Also, of course, do not use a second router as an
access point unless you are very conversant with IP subnets and NAT.
- Check for network loops - commonly caused by devices with multiple ways to connect to the network
(e.g. laptops, printers, or cameras with both Ethernet and WiFi)

GET READY: Write down the MAC address of the Receiver in the box below
and put it someplace safe. If you haven't already, create an account on
AyrMesh.com from a computer connected to the same router that the
Receiver will be connected to. This ensures you won't have to enter the
Receiver's MAC address manually.
2ASSEMBLE: If you haven't already, open the door on the bottom of the Receiver, exposing the
Ethernet ports.
3INITIALIZE: With an Ethernet cable, connect the LAN port of
the Power Supply to your router. With another Ethernet cable,
connect the PoE port of the Power Supply to either port on the
bottom of the Receiver. Plug in the power supply (lights on the
Receiver will go on). Wait until the Receiver checks in to
AyrMesh.com - the signal lights will "run" from bottom to top,
then the top signal light will remain lit. This should take about
a minute.
4INSTALL: Mount the Receiver outdoors, high and "in the clear."
Run a long (preferably shielded - STP) Ethernet cable from the
power supply (which must be kept dry) to the Receiver -
remember to leave a "drip loop" where the cable enters the
building to prevent water from coming down the cable inside.
See http://support.ayrstone.com for additional information, hints, and
troubleshooting tips.
