Description
The Asano A3 is a networked 3-zone stereo output module that allows connecting up to 3 zones (1 digital S/PDIF and
2 analogues) of third party amplifiers or active speakers with the Asano system.
The two analogue zones are connected with RJ45 outputs, which are compatible with B&O RJ45 Power Link cables. The
RJ45 outputs can be converted to standard RCA connectors using the optional A3 Audio Splitter (718-01).
Every zone has a separate trigger output to switch on and o the external amplifier or active speaker.
The Asano A3 is able to connect two input sources, 1 digital S/PDIF and 1 analogue.
The Asano A3 is completely configured and controlled with KNX, and connects to the Asano system using
the CobraNet network.
How to start-up
Aer initial power-up, the Asano A3 needs to be configured using ETS.
For more information, please refer to the manual.
LED feedback
There is one LED mounted in the front of the Asano A3 as a visual feedback. Through dierent colours, a status
feedback will be defined:

How to install
1Connect to the CobraNet
Connect the Asano A3 to the CobraNet network using
Ethernet (CAT5e) cable.
CobraNet is configured using ETS
2Connect the input sources
• Source1:analogueinputusingRCAconnector
• Source2:digitalinputusingS/PDIFconnector
3Digital output - Zone 1
An external amplifier can be connected using the digital
S/PDIF output (zone 1). The amplifier can be switched
on and o using the 12V trigger output.
4Analogue outputs - Zone 2 & 3
The two analogue zones are connected with RJ45, which is
compatible with B&O Powerlink. The RJ45 outputs can also
be converted to standard RCA connectors using the optional
A3 Audio Splitter (718-01). The A3 splitter has a separate
trigger output to switch on and o the amplifier.
IMPORTANT: Shielded/Foiled twisted pair (S/FTP), such as
Cat.7, should always be used to connect the analogue zones
to the Asano A3.
5KNX bus
Connection to the KNX bus is made by using the standard
KNX push wire connection
6Power supply
The Asano A3 has to be powered by a Euro mains power lead
with a 230 V AC input.
To avoid power surges never disconnect the active power
cable at the side of the device .
