6001002 v3.05 11.20 Birko Urn Page 2 of 2
• Never use the Urn for any purpose other than its intended use.
• This appliance is intended for indoor use in ambient operating temperatures between 10°C and 40°C.
• This appliance is not for outdoor use or in areas where a water jet may be used for cleaning.
• Never overfill the Urn.
• Beware of scalding steam when lifting the Urn lid.
Operating Instructions
• Place the Urn on a level surface (with sufficient strength to carry the filled weight of the Urn), within
easy reach of a power outlet. Make sure there is enough room above the Urn to allow for filling.
• Position the Urn tap where it can be reached easily whilst in use.
• Fill the Urn with water to the desired level. Do not exceed the “MAX” water level marked inside the
Urn and also shown in the external level indicator. It is recommended to take the water to the Urn
to fill it. Do not lift or carry the Urn to fill it with water.
• Replace the Urn lid and rotate to lock in place.
• Plug the Urn into a power outlet and turn power ON. Turn ON the Urn switch. The red HEATING
light will signal that the power is on and the Urn is heating.
• Set the desired water temperature on the control knob.
• When the water in the Urn has reached the set temperature, the red HEATING light will turn off
and the green READY light will turn on. The Urn will then cycle on and off to keep water close to
the selected temperature.
• To re-boil the water after adding cold water, turn the temperature selector knob to “MAX”. Once
the water is boiling, turn the knob back to the desired temperature.
• When the Urn is not in use, turn OFF the Urn switch, and turn OFF the switch at the electrical outlet.
• In the event of a boil dry, a safety cut-out switch will activate. To reset the safety cut-out,
disconnect the Urn from the electrical outlet and allow the Urn to cool down. Reset by pressing
the black BOIL DRY RESET button under the base of the Urn.
Cleaning Instructions
• To keep the Urn clean, empty and refill with fresh water daily.
• Clean the exterior with stainless steel cleaner and polish with a dry cloth.
• Keep the vents in the Urn lid clean and clear of any blockages.
• To clean the interior, fill Urn to maximum level, add one packet of Birko Urn Cleaner (part no.
1310729), boil for 15 minutes, turn off and empty. Rinse out with cold water. Repeat if needed.
• Clean/descale the interior at least every 6 months. Cleaning frequency may vary depending on
usage and local water conditions. High sediment, turbidity or hardness levels may require more
frequent cleaning.
• Do not use a water jet to clean the Urn.
