Your BLACK+DECKERTM BCGL115 glue gun has been
designed for leisure and DIY activities in the home to join
materials together including paper, card and material. This
appliance is intended for consumer use only.

The intended use is described in this
manual. The use of any accessory or
attachment or performance of any opera-
tion with this appliance other than those
recommended in this instruction manual

switched on.

non-compatible charger in any way to

glue sticks in the glue gun.
For example: Do not attempt to melt
crayons or candles.
uDO NOT use hot melt glue to take
the place of structural fasteners.
uThe glue sticks used with this glue
gun will begin to soften at about
60 °C. Don't use the glue on objects or
materials that are subjected to heat.
uAvoid accidental glue discharge.
Forcing glue sticks into an unheated
appliance may damage the appliance
or cause hot glue to be unexpectedly
expelled from nozzle when the operat-
ing temperature is achieved. Glue may
discharge from a heated appliance
without pressure applied to the trigger
(1). Use a heat resistant material to
protect the work surface.
uThis appliance is not a toy. Keep out
of the reach of children.
uThe appliance is only to be used
with the power supply unit. The ap-
pliance must only be supplied at safety
extra low voltage corresponding to the
marking on the appliance.
Safety of others
uThis appliance can be used by children
aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities or lack of experience
and knowledge if they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of
the appliance in a safe way and understand
the hazards involved.

uBattery liquid may be ammable if
exposed to spark or ame.
uNever attempt to open the tool for any
reason. If the tool case is cracked
or damaged, do not charge. Do not
crush, drop or damage the tool. Do
not use a tool or charger that has
received a sharp blow, been dropped,
run over or damaged in any way (e.g.,
pierced with a nail, hit with a hammer,
stepped on). Damaged tools should
be returned to the service center for
recycling.
Storage recommendations
The best storage place is one that is
cool and dry, away from direct sunlight
and excess heat or cold. Store the fully
charged tool disconnected from the
charger.
Transportation
Note: Integral Li-ion tools should not be
put in checked baggage on airplanes and
must be properly protected from short
circuits if they are in carry-on baggage.

uThe provided charging cable is not in-
tended for any uses other than charg-
ing BLACK+DECKER rechargeable
tools with charging ports.
Inserting or removing the charger plug
from the tool may ignite the dust or
fumes.
uOnly charge the battery with the pro-
vided charge lead and a suitable class
2 power supply.
uDO NOT splash or immerse in water.
uDO NOT allow water or any liquid to
enter tool.
uDO NOT store or use the tool in
locations where the temperature may
reach or exceed 104 °F (40 °C) (such
as outside sheds or metal buildings in
summer). For best life store tools in a
cool, dry location.
uDo not store the tool with the switch
locked on. Never tape the switch in the
ON position.
uDO NOT incinerate the tool even if it
is severely damaged or is completely
worn out. The battery can explode in
a re. Toxic fumes and materials are
created when lithium-ion batteries are
burned.
uIf battery contents come into contact
with the skin, immediately wash area
with mild soap and water. If battery
liquid gets into the eye, rinse water
over the open eye for 15 minutes or
until irritation ceases. If medical atten-
tion is needed, the battery electrolyte
is composed of a mixture of liquid
organic carbonates and lithium salts.
uContents of opened battery cells may
cause respiratory irritation. Provide
fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek
medical attention.

Charging other types of tools may
cause their batteries to overheat and
burst, resulting in personal injury,
property damage, re, electric shock or
electrocution.
uUse only with the Listed/Certied
Information Technology (computer)
Equipment.
uDO NOT expose charging cable to
water, rain or snow.
uPull by the plugs rather than the cord
when disconnecting the charging ca-
ble. This will reduce the risk of damage
to the plugs and cord.
uMake sure that the cord is located so
that it will not be stepped on, tripped
over or otherwise subjected to damage
or stress.
uWhen charging the tool outdoors,
always provide a dry location.
uDO NOT use a charging cable with a
damaged cord or plugs. Have them
replaced immediately.
uForeign materials of a conductive
nature, such as, but not limited to,
grinding dust, metal chips, steel wool,
aluminum foil or any buildup of metallic
particles should be kept away from the
charging plugs and port.
uAlways unplug the charging cable from
the power supply when there is no tool
attached to it.

Assembly
Warning! To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, turn
unit off and keep away from the on-off button before making
any adjustments or removing/installing attachments or
accessories. An accidental start-up can cause injury.
Charging procedure (g. A)
Warning! Do not use tool while it is connected to the charger.
uInsert the charging plug plug (8) into the charge port (6).
uPlug the charging plug into any charging port (such as on
a computer)or charging socket.
u The charging indicator LED (5) will ash while charging.
uThe charging indicator LED will change to solid when fully
charged.
uBattery can be left charging or charger can be
disconnnected..
Important charging notes
uThe charger and tool may become warm to the touch
while charging. This is a normal condition, and does not
indicate a problem. To facilitate the cooling of the tool
after use, avoid placing the charger or tool in a warm
environment such as in a metal shed or an uninsulated
trailer.
uIf the tool does not charge properly, take the tool and
charger to your local service center.
uYou may charge a partially used battery whenever you
desire with no adverse effect on the tool.
Loading glue sticks (Fig. B)
Warning! Keep the tool pointed away from yourself and
others. Serious personal injury may result.
Warning! Never remove a glue stick that has been inserted
into the glue gun.
Warning! Only use 7 mm glue sticks.
uInsert glue sticks into the glue stick loading port 3 at the
back of the glue gun.
uPush the glue stick until it seats fully into the melt
chamber. Do not force the glue stick.
Operation
Warning! To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, turn
unit off and keep away from the on-off button before making
any adjustments or removing/installing attachments or
accessories. An accidental start-up can cause injury.
On/Off (Fig. C)
Warning! When not in use, place tool upright, on its base,
on a stable surface where it will not cause a tripping or falling
hazard.

Choose a surface that will not be damaged by glue dripping
from the nozzle.
Allow the glue gun to cool for 30 minutes before storing.
The ON/OFF button (4) is located on the base of the tool.
uTo turn the tool on, press and hold the top of the ON/OFF
switch for approximately 1 second until heat up LED 2
starts ashing, indicating the heating element is warming
up.
uAfter approximately 30 seconds, the LED will turn solid
and the illumination LED (7) will turn on to show the unit is
ready to use.
u If the charger indicator LED (5) starts ashing red, this
indicates low battery.
uTo turn the tool off, press the ON/OFF switch.
uThe LED indicator will no longer be illuminated when the
heating element is off.
Safety cut off feature
The unit includes a safety cut off feature. If the unit has not
been moved or used within 2mins the unit will automatically
turn off. Follow standard on/off procedure to turn back on.
Applying glue
Warning! Molten glue reaches 302ºF. Do not touch applied
glue. Keep away from children.
Warning! Pressing porous materials, such as fabric,
immediately after application can cause glue to leak through
and make contact with skin, causing injury.
uAfter the glue gun has been ON for at least 30 seconds,
you can apply glue by squeezing the trigger 1 .
uTo glue objects together, apply glue to one object and
press the second object into the melted glue. Hold objects
together for 5-10 seconds.
Note: Heavy applications may require up to a minute of
cooling before the glue will reach full strength.
Note: Glue dispersion may be delayed longer than time
claimed due to the presence of solidied glue in the unit.

Hints for Optimum Use
The basic instructions given below are provided as a guide to
craft and DIY applications. The operator should practise the
various applications on scrap materials to obtain the required
effect and prevent damage to the work piece.
Tips on using your glue gun
uChoose the right glue stick for the appliance. Low
temperature glue sticks suitable for this appliance.
uMake sure that the surfaces are clean and free from dirt or
oily lms before gluing.
u Assemble the parts to conrm that they can be joined
together in the required position before applying glue.
uMake arrangements to hold the parts in position while the
glue hardens.
The heat from the glue may be conducted to the material.
Clamps or pliers should be used to protect the operator
from the heat.
uWorking in a cold environment will reduce the time
required for the glue to harden.
Warm environments will increase the time for the glue to
set.
uThe amount of glue applied will affect the hardening time.
Large heavy pools of glue will take up to fty percent
longer to dry than small drops. Very thin beads will dry in
as few as 10 seconds. Some experimentation with your
glue gun on scrap material will help to determine the best
method to use for your particular project.
uSome paints and stains containing petroleum distillates
can weaken the adhesive. Test before using.
You may need to paint or stain before gluing.
uExcess glue is not easily removed from materials when it
has hardened. Removal of excess glue may be attempted
by scraping, peeling, or softening the glue by applying
heat e.g. with the hot tip of the appliance. Adhesive may
be removed from fabric by dry cleaning.
Maintenance
Your BLACK+DECKER appliance has been designed
to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of
maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends
upon proper care and regular cleaning.
uRegularly clean the appliance using a damp cloth. Do not
use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
