Title: Changing needle bar cushions
Models: BE-1204C, BE-1206B 1. Make sure the machine power is turned off.
2. Remove the covers between each head by removing
the two lower screws and loosening the two upper
screws on the BE-1204 or one upper screw on the
BE-1206.
3. Remove the right end cover by removing the two
lower screws and loosening the one upper screw.
4. Remove the right end cover by removing the two
lower screws and loosening two upper screws. Plus
removing a screw on the cover behind the head.

5. Loosen the screw on the left and remove the screw
on the right of the face plate that has the Brother logo
on it. Slide the face plate off to the right on each
head.
6. Remove the two screws of the middle thread guide
and remove the middle thread guide on all heads.
7. Remove the four hex screws from the thread take-up
lever cover and remove the cover on all heads.
8. Loosen the needle bar setscrewsand remove the
needles.
9. Now, remove the needle bar setscrews all the way
and remove the needle bar thread guidesand work
clamp cushions.
(Note: The work clamp cushion has a groove at
the top inside diameter that needs to be
facing upward during re-assembly.)

10. Remove the four hex screws securing the tension
base. Remove tension base from the machine by
disconnecting the harness at the back and the ground
wire held on by a screw to the tension base mount.
11. Loosen the top dead center stopper hex screws.
12. Loosen the needle bar clamp screws.
13. Pull needle bar up slowly at the top. As you are doing
so, you will need to remove the spring, presser spring
plate holder, needle bar clamp, top dead center
stopper and finally the needle bar cushion. Do not
remove needle bar completely. Pulling the needle bar
up until the bottom of it just passes the rubber cushion
will be enough.
14. Install new rubber cushion.
15. Slowly lower needle bar down installing the parts
removed in step 13 in reverse order.
16. Repeat for all needle bars.
17. Install the parts listed in steps 7 and 8 for all needles.

18. Please see “Adjusting Needle Bar Height” in
instruction manual for completing adjustment of each
needle bar. (Note: You will need to engage each
needle bar by pushing down on the needle bar clamp
until it locks in to place before performing the
adjustment.
19. Assembly machine in reverse order.
