Thank you for purchasing Puff the Magic Dryer!
It is our aim to encourage good hand hygiene practice in a safe and friendly
environment – the washroom.
Puff the Magic Dryer is a warm air hand dryer
intended for use in an indoor environment by
non-expert users. It is not suitable for outdoor use.
This appliance is designed to be used by children
and persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or
knowledge. As with all equipment in the washroom
area, children should always be shown how to use
it correctly and in a safe manner.
Puff the Magic Dryer is not a toy. Cleaning and
maintenance should always be carried out by a
competent adult.
Installation Instructions
The appliance is intended for connection to fixed wiring
(fused electrical spur). A fused connection in all poles
must be provided in the fixed wiring, in accordance with
the wiring rules. Check that the electrical rating, shown
on the hand dryer’s rating label, is compatible with the
electrical supply.
WARNING:
This product must be earthed
Installation must be supervised by a qualified
electrician. The CHHC is not liable for faulty installation
or damage incurred during installation. Installation and
wiring must conform to current IEE Regulation (UK),
local or appropriate regulation (other countries).
·Connect the ground/earth supply to the terminal
marked ‘G’
·Connect the live supply to the terminal marked ‘ L’
·Connect the neutral supply to the terminal marked ‘N’.
Installation Height
Hand dryers must be installed at the correct height for
the age group of the children using the dryer. No-one
wants to hold their hands above their head to dry them,
so if in doubt go low! Measure base of backboard from
floor and use a level to ensure it is parallel to floor
surface. Recommended heights are:
·Children under 5: position base 440mm from floor
·Children over 5: position base 720mm from floor
It is important that the backboard is fitted with the
dryer, especially if the wall is an uneven surface.
This ensures that the back of the dryer remains
flush with the backboard, and is essential for safety
and efficient performance.
Fixing Instructions
1. Fix backboard to wall using the pink backboard
mounting points
2. Drill appropriate holes at the red dryer
mounting points
3. Drill cable access holes (marked in black) if cable
is hidden behind a panel or cavity wall
4. Insert fixings as appropriate to the wall type
5. Fix dryer to the wall
6. Connect electricity (only if suitably qualified)
7. Replace cover
8. Place Puff Feet stickers under the dryer and Puff
High Five stickers above sinks
9. Enjoy!
Once you have installed the dryer it is important that
children are shown how to use the dryer properly.
Maintenance
Prior to carrying out any maintenance, ensure that the
electrical supply has been disconnected.
The cover should be wiped occasionally with a damp
cloth to remove surface marks. Do not use abrasive
cleaning agents. Every six months (more frequently in
a dusty environment) the inlet and outlet grilles
should be cleaned with a small brush to remove
accumulated debris.
Should a fault develop after installation, disconnect
the unit from the electrical supply and call a qualified
electrician.
Legal Stuff
Installation should always be carried out by a qualified
electrician. The circuit diagram should be referred to
and the unit be connected to an appropriate spur.
Any injury or damage caused by poor installation is
not the liability of The Children’s Hand Hygiene
Company Ltd.
