General safety rules
• Never use thesaw when you are tired, sick, under theinfluence of alcohol or medicine.
• Local regulations may restrict theage of theoperator; check what minimum operator age requirements apply to your region.
• Always be careful when handlingfuel. Wipeoff any spilt fuel and move thesaw at least 3 metres away from therefuelling 
location before startingit.
• Remove any sources of ignition and see that there are no sparks, naked flames, lit cigarettes,etc. inthearea where 
thefuel is mixed, used or stored.
• Never smoke when refuelling or operating thesaw.
• Do not permit anyone other than theoperator to come close to thesaw when it is being started orused. Children, pets 
and onlookers should be kept at least 10 metres away from thesaw when it is being started orused.
• Never begin using thesaw without having full view of theentire workarea. Keepyour proper footing and balance and 
make sure that you have aplanned retreat path to asafe place away from thefallingtree.
• Never work alone, always have aperson close by whom you can call if you needhelp.
• Never work in poor light conditions, heavy rain or strongwind.
• Thesaw must only be used for cutting natural untreatedwood.
• Never use thechainsaw on treatedwood.
• Thesaw must not be used for clearingbrush.
• Make sure that thesaw chain is not in contact with any object before starting.
• Always carry thechainsaw with theengine shut off, theguide bar to therear and thesilencer pointing away from thebody.
• Always inspect thesaw before startingit. Donot start it if there are worn, missing or damagedparts. Neveruse thesaw 
if it is damaged, incorrectly adjusted or incorrectly assembled. Whentheengine has started: Checkthat thechain saw 
stops completely when you let go of thethrottle.
• Any service of thesaw other than that mentioned in this instruction manual should be carried out by qualified service personnel.
• Always shut off theengine before placing thesaw on theground.
• Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings because slender material may fasten in thesaw chain and be 
whipped towards you or pull you off balance. Becareful when cutting limbs under tension. Guardagainst falling branches 
and be alert for springback and pinching of theguide bar when thetension in thefibres of thewood is released.
• Keep thehandles dry, clean and free of oil and fuel mixture.
• Operate thechainsaw only in well-ventilatedareas.
• Never operate thesaw in atree unless you have been specially trained for suchwork.
• Never transport thesaw without thescabbard fitted.
• Never operate thesaw close to flammable liquids or gases, doing so poses arisk of fire or explosion.
• Never refuel, top up theoil or perform any maintenance to thesaw when theengine is running.
• First-time users should be equipped with safety equipment and be instructed in thecorrect use of thechainsaw by 
anexperienced operator.
• Never start thesaw indoors. Thesaw will emit poisonous exhaust gases as soon as it is started, these gases may be 
invisible and odourless but are harmful if inhaled. Beaware that thesaw will produce harmful sawdust and oil mist from 
chain lubrication, protect yourself accordingly.
• Always wear gloves and keep your hands warm when using theproduct. Long-term exposure to hand-arm vibration from 
using achainsaw can lead to permanent damage to hands andarms. Ifyou experience symptoms such as poor blood 
circulation, white finger tips, reduction in sense of touch, numbness or tingling in fingers, contact adoctor.
• Drive in thespiked bumper directly behind theintended cut and let this be thehinge around which thesaw pivots.
