OperationalDescription

TheRT‐200isasmallbatterypoweredGPStrackingdevicemountedonthesunvisororrearviewmirror
ofthevehiclebeingtracked.WhentheRT‐200sensesmotion,thensensesastop,thelocationofthe
vehicleisobtainedthroughtheGPSreceiver,thenthelocationandserialnumberaretransmittedtoone
oftheCognososGateways,overa433MHz15.231radio.
Activating/DeactivatingaRT‐200
TheRT‐200isshippeddeactivatedandin‘shippingmode’.TobringtheRT‐200outof‘shippingmode’,
theoperatorshouldgentlydouble‐taptheunit,3timesinsuccession,with2‐3secondsbetweendouble
taps.TheRT‐200LEDwillflashgreenfor10secondswhenfirstbroughtoutofshippingmode.TheRT‐
200willlookforaCognososActivatorduringthis10secondwindow.IftheActivatorisnotfound,the
RT‐200willre‐entershippingmode.IftheActivatorisfoundandcommunicationisestablished,theRT‐
200willexitshippingmodeandneverre‐enter,forthelifeoftheRT‐200,evenduringbattery
replacement.
OncecommunicationisestablishedbetweentheRT‐200andActivator,theoperatorwillcommandthe
RT‐200tobeactivated,deactivatedorhavethefirmwareupgraded,usingtheCognososActivatorutility
program.
Onceactivated,theRT‐200isreadytobeplacedintoavehicleandperformitstrackingfunction.
TheRT‐200mustbewithin10metersoftheActivatortoestablishcommunication.Once
communicationisestablished,theoperatorcanactivate,deactivateorhavethefirmwareupgraded,
usingtheCognososActivatorutilityprogram.
Replacingabattery
TheRT‐200willblinktheredLEDintermittentlyupondetectionofalowbattery.Oncealowbatteryis
detected,theRT‐200’sbatterylifeisbetween1‐3weeks.
Toreplacethebattery,removethe4screwsholdingtogetherthetopandbottomhousinghalves.
RemovethebatteryandreplacewithaCognososapprovedLithiumThionylChlorideAAbattery(3.6V,
2.4Ah).Assemblethetopandbottomhalvesandinstallthe4screws.
TheRT‐200LEDwillflashgreenfor10secondswhenanewbatteryisinstalled.TheRT‐200willlookfor
aCognososActivatorduringthis10secondwindow.IftheActivatorisnotfound,theRT‐200will
deactivateitself,butalwaysbelisteningfortheActivatorsignal.
OncecommunicationisestablishedbetweentheRT‐200andActivator,theoperatorwillcommandthe
RT‐200tobeactivated,deactivatedorhavethefirmwareupgraded,usingtheCognososActivatorutility
program.
Onceactivated,theRT‐200isreadytobeplacedintoavehicleandperformitstrackingfunction.




VehicleInstallationandOperation
AnactivatedRT‐200isplacedinthevehicleonthedriver’ssidevisororhangingfromtherearview
mirror.Beforeinstallation,theoperatorwillscantheRT‐200barcodeintothecarmanagement
softwaresystem,associatingthevehiclewiththeRT‐200.


1) VehiclemovementdetectedwithaccelerometerintheRT‐200.
2) TheRT‐200monitorsitsaccelerometeranddetectsvehiclehasparked.
3) TheRT‐200acquiresit’slocationwiththeGPSreceiver.
4) TheRT‐200transmitsacontrolmessagetotheGatewayindicatingthatithasmoved.
TheRT‐200alsotransmitsit’sserialnumberandGPScoordinates.
Transmissionlasts4.8seconds.
5) TheRT‐200transmitsacontrolmessagetotheGatewayindicatingthattheeventthatthe
RT‐200hasnotchangedlocationwithinadefinedtimeperiod(1day).
TheRT‐200alsotransmitsit’sserialnumberandGPScoordinates.
Transmissionlasts4.8seconds.

CONDITIONS.
(1)THISDEVICEMAYNOTCAUSEHARMFULINTERFERENCE,AND(2)THISDEVICEMUSTACCEPTANY
INTERFERENCERECEIVED,INCLUDINGINTERFERENCETHATMAYCAUSEUNDESIREDOPERATION.
NOTE:ThisequipmenthasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsforaClassB8digitaldevice,pursuant
toPart15oftheFCCRules.Theselimitsaredesignedtoprovidereasonableprotectionagainstharmful
interferenceinaresidentialinstallation.Thisequipmentgenerates,uses,andcanradiateradiofrequencyenergy
and,ifnotinstalledandusedinaccordancewiththeinstructions,maycauseharmfulinterferencetoradio
communications.However,thereisnoguaranteethatinterferencewillnotoccurinaparticularinstallation.Ifthis
equipmentdoescauseharmfulinterferencetoradioortelevisionreception,whichcanbedeterminedbyturning


Radio/broadcastproductsshallcomplywiththerequirementstoincluderequirednoticesand/orstatementsto
theuseroftheproductforeachunitoftheproductofferedforsale.Therequirednoticesshallcomplywiththe
followingrequirements:
• ThenoticesshallbeasspecifiedintheapplicableRSSregulation(s)totheproduct.
• Thesenoticesshallbeshowninaconspicuouslocationintheusermanualfortheproduct,ortobe
displayedontheproduct‐variableformatsareacceptableforprovidingthenotices(i.e.inpaperform,
CD,DVD,orinsertwithdownloadlinkonthecompany'swebsite).
• Ifmorethanonenoticeisrequiredformultipleproductversions,theproductversiontowhicheach
noticepertainsshouldbeidentified.
• Thesuppliersofradioequipmentshallprovidethenoticesand/orstatementsinbothEnglishandFrench.
• Incaseswheretheusernotificationsareonlyavailableinonelanguage(EnglishorFrench)atthetimeof
thecertificationprocess,theapplicantshallprovideadeclarationinwritingthattheusernoticesand/or
statementstotheuseroftheproductwillbeinbothEnglishandFrenchwhentheproductisforsale
and/orleaseinCanada.

