WARNING
THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE CARRIED OUT OR
WARRANTY BECOMES VOID.
Heater must be installed by a Coonara authorised technician. List is available
on www.shamicheating.com. You must obtain a license number from the
installer.
Inbuilt and Freestanding Heaters must be placed on a flat level surface.
Inbuilt models must be placed on 6mm AC sheeting, to prevent unit from
rattling.
Heater must be checked for scratches or dents prior to installation.
All glass must be fitted with a screw driver not a drill. If glass is broken upon
installation due to the screws being tightened too much, it will not be classed
under warranty.
Further safety precautions and installation instructions are contained
throughout this manual. Please read the manual before installation.

NOTE: In the event the electricity supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced with an
original Coonara part obtainable from your authorized dealer.
THE SAFETY GUARD AROUND THE GLASS DOOR IS FITTED TO THIS
APPLIANCE TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR INJURY FROM BURNS. NO
PART OF IT SHOULD BE PERMANENTLY REMOVED. IF HEATER IS
DAMAGED , DURING REMOVAL OF SAFETY GUARD, DAMAGE WILL NOT
BE COVERED BY WARRANTY.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A SECONDARY GUARD BE USED TO PREVENT
ACCESS TO THE APPLIANCE BY YOUNG CHILDREN AS OUTER PANELS
MAY REACH HIGH TEMPERATURES.
THIS APPLIANCE SHALL ONLY BE INSTALLED BY A COONARA
AUTHORISED TECHNICIAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH:
- AS/NZ S 5601.1 (GAS INSTALLATION CODE)
- MANUFACTURERS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
- LOCAL GAS FITTING REGULATIONS, AND
- MUNICIPAL BUILDING CODES.

The Coonara Clear View Gas log Heater has been designed for a simple and efficient operation to
provide you with a higher heat output than most other heaters in the market. The heater will provide
you with a fully controlled modulated supply of heat, from a pleasant and steady warmth to the
strongest heat output, to reach almost any corner of your area.
PRE OPERATIONS CHECKS
Prior to operating the heater, ensure that the flue terminal is not obstructed. Furthermore, make sure
there are no combustible objects leaning against, resting on, or within the immediate vicinity of the unit.
Check that the heater main power and gas supply are connected and switched on.
OPERATING THE HEATER
The heaters are operated by the room thermostat
1 - To ignite your heater press PowerButton on the thermostat and the heater will automatically start
the ignition sequence. Please refer to the Thermostat Operating Manual supplied for further
instructions. After approximately 30 seconds of self-checking the heater will ignite.
2 - The heater will always start in the low heat setting and (unless already warm) the heater will warm
up for at least 2 minutes before automatically going to the higher flame setting.
3 – The Room fans will not start till at least 2minutes of warming up period.
4- During first time firing of this appliance, an odour may be noticed for a short period of time while
the paint cures. It is advisable to leave the windows open during the first few hours of the very first
operation only.
TURNING THE APPLIANCE OFF
Press power button on thermostat once. The room fan will continue to operate for a period of about 8
minutes while the heater cools down.
Please note:
1 - This appliance cannot be operated without the fan running.
2 - Due to the performance and efficiency of the heater, steam may be noticed coming from the flue
terminal on cool days.
3 - As this appliance has a luminous effect some slight carbon deposition may occur.
OPERATING THE CLEAR VIEW AND BAROSSA HEATER
During first time firing of this appliance, an odour may be noticed for a short period of time while the
paint cures. It is advisable to leave the windows open during the first few hours of the very first
operation only.
When the heater is turned on there is an initial delay time (purge time) of 30 seconds. Once this time
has elapsed, your heater will light via the electronic ignition system. Regardless of the heat setting, the
heater will start on high for approximately 10 seconds before switching back to the last heat setting
used. There will be a further 2 minutes delay before the room air fan turns on.
When the room temperature is approaching the set temperature, the flame will begin to diminish. Once
the room temperature reaches the set temperature the heater will go to minimum flame. If the room
temperature begins to fall the flame will then increase.

When the heater is turned off the room fan will continue to run for a further 8 minutes.
SAFETY FEATURES:
Automatic Pre-purge: Before heater ignition this operation is done to evacuate any remains of gas or
flue products from inside the firebox that could be the cause of a mishap.
Automatic Shut-off: Should the flame extinguish for any reason there is an automatic shut off of the
gas supply.
Over temperature protection: In the event of the room fan failing, blockage of airways or incorrect
gas installation, the gas supply will automatically shut off after 5 minutes aproximate. This is due to
temperature increase and to prevent the appliance from over-heating.
Warning :This appliance must be installed to comply with AS/NZS 5601.1 codes and
regulations and only by a Coonara authorised technician who is responsible for its correct
operation at the time of installation and final commissioning.

WARNING

INSTALLATION OPTIONS:

The Clear View and Barossa Inbuilt Heaters are a zero clearance appliance and can
be optionally installed in a false fireplace or wall cavity made of combustible
materials such as wood or chipboard. Coonara provide the heater with their own
flue kit, of flexible pipes of 60mm and 50mm diameter for the inlet and exhaust. For
the gas supply a flexible hose is provided and must be used.
SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
1. To access flue fan on the Barossa the heater needs to be removed
2. To access the flue fan on the Clearview only the rear fascia needs to be removed
3. To access all other componentry on the Barossa & Clearview the front fascia needs to be
removed

VERTICAL FLUE INSTALLATION
1. Connect flue terminal to both flexible flue pipes.
2. Feed both flexible pipes down the flue cavity.
3. Fix flue terminal securely to top of the flue cavity and seal to prevent water entry. Seal with Hi
temperature waterproof silicon sealant prior to cementing to chimney top, pop rivet circular
flange to the collector box. (Chimney installation only).

INBUILT HORIZONTAL Flue Installation
1. Determine the exact location for the heater.
2. Mark the exact location for the wall penetration
a. Determine that you will not be cutting through any vertical wall studs.
b. Check that the location of the wall-mounted terminal conforms to the requirements of
AS/NZS5601.1 – Location of a Flue Terminal.
3. Cut 2 holes 60 & 70mm in diameter at 160mm centres holes to be side by side in the horizontal.
4. Use the back of the cowl as a template for fixing holes.
5. Fit flex flue to spigots on the rear of the cowl using provided hose clamps and seal with silicone
(high temp).
NOTE- it may be necessary to trim the flue depending on wall thickness.
6. Attach the back of the cowl to the wall. Silicone around outside.
INSTALLATION - GAS PRESSURE TO GAS VALVE
NATURAL GAS 1.13 kPa.
Only to be carried out by a Coonara authorised technician!
1. Unpack flue kit and log set. (Packed inside with heater).
2. Carefully remove the cardboard carton surrounding the heater.
3. Remove fascia on Barossa & both fascias on the Clear View. To remove fascia undo 2 screws
either end of air intake panel and slide fascia up vertically off the hooks.
4. To eliminate damage to the fascias, DO NOT unscrew heater from the pallet until after fascias have
been removed.
5. Carefully tip heater on its end and remove 3 dimpled plates (for transport only)
6. Lift heater into position in the cavity.
7. Remove glass & frame, from front of heater only, by undoing 4 screws on the side of the door
8. Carefully place logs into place as per diagrams.
9. When installing logs do not bend sensors.
10. Start by pressing power button on the thermostat and then follow the instructions in the thermostat
manual supplied. Heater will not light for approx 1 minute. Once the firebox gets warm it will then
go to higher temp. Switch off using power button on the thermostat. This may have to be done 2 –
3 times, until gas lines and the unit is purged.
11. Re assemble heater in reverse order.

The flue outlets are factory set to accommodate plaster board, this can be adjusted to
accept 30mm. i.e allowance for tiles.
To adjust take off the plate, undo 4 screws, slide the spigot forward, then tighten screws.
Make sure screws are tight and the unit is sealed. Put cover plate back on and silicone.
This operation needs to be done prior to installation.

PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT
Your Coonara Clear View & Barossa Heater has been fully factory preset and adjusted and should not
need to be re-adjusted during installation. Gas pressures still need to be checked to the pressures shown
on Page 4 of this manual. But there will be some situations where some service has to be carried out and
gas pressure may need to be re-adjusted as per the following instructions:
