two
transmitting antennas, a receivingantenna and transmissionlines mounted on a
laminatedglass cloth plate. Inaddition, a transmitterand a receiver are mounted in a
housing on the search head.
A
rubberbumper
is
mountedaroundthe search head as a
protectivedevice. The search head assembly generatesand radiates multiplechopped
radiofrequency signals and receivesand detects these signals.
(2) HandleAssembly. The handleassembly consistsof a short handle,a
long handle, a transmitter
-
receiver housing, and attaching hardware. The short handle
is
attached to the search head by means of the transmitter
-
receiverhousingand can be
adjusted and held at the most convenientangle
for
use by means of a friction clutch
arrangement. The long handle, consistingof five nestingtubular aluminum sections,
fastens to the short handle by means of a bayonetcoupling. Itcan beextendedto any
intermediate length betweenapproximately 19inches (0.48m) and
57
inches (1.45m)
and isclamped at the adjusted position by means of the knurledcollets on each
