Easy-Kleen EZ3024500CW User manual

PRECAUTIONS/ DANGERS
DANGER Your machine uses HIGH VOLTAGE electricity. Obtain the services of a qualified electrician for all electric work.
EZ3024500CW, EZ03043500CW, EZ30431000CWand EZ3054100CW require dedicated 220v 50amp electrical service.
The EZ3054100CW-SX models require dedicated 220v 70amp service.)
IF THE MACHINE IS NOT SUPPLIED WITH THE REQUIRED ELECTRICAL SERVICE, THEN THE MOTORS
COULD OVERHEAT AND CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE WHICH WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER
WARRANTY.
DANGER
2. DO NOT use any petroleum base chemical, solvent, caustic or any flammable products in your parts washer.
3. The heating element(s) and pump/motor can be damaged if the water
level drops too low. Check the water level daily. The proper water level is 1” inside the filter basket.
4. Cleaning will be poor and the heating element(s) and pump/motor may get damaged if the machine is not cleaned
according to instructions.
5. (This section does not apply if you ordered a stainless steel parts washer)
Your parts washer is made with mild steel and will rust unless you use the correct detergent and follow the correct
start-up procedure. Make sure the brand you are using is safe on mild steel and has an adequate concentration of
rust inhibitors. When installing the unit, do not fill the tank with water unless you have the time needed to heat the
water to 140º - 160º F, add the detergent, and run the wash cycle for at least two (2) hours to coat the steel with rust
inhibitor. Again, read this entire manual before starting the installation so that you know what is involved. (See
“Chemical Selection”)
6. DO NOT use the unit if the door safety switch does not stop the spray pump when the door is opened. CALL FOR
SERVICE
7. Since laws and regulations are forever changing, and since they often vary region to region, the remarks in this
section should only be construed as a general guideline. It is the customers responsibility to research, understand,
and follow the exact environmental regulations of their region. Protect your environment and protect your business
from fines by handling your dirty cleaning solution according to federal, state and local codes.
The two characteristics that you have to be most concerned about are CORROSIVE and EP TOXICITY. Ask your detergent supplier if the
pH of your solution is greater than 12.5 and if so, how can it be neutralized with acid. To check for EP TOXICITY, you would need to
have a sample tested by a laboratory.
Disposal by dumping on the ground or in a storm drain is NOT permitted.
As you will read in the Maintenance Section of this manual, you can separate the oil and solid waste from the solution so that the cleaning
solution can last for a longer period of time.

INSTALLATION
DANGER This machine utilizes high voltage. Have a certified electrician do all electrical work.
Always disconnect power when opening an electric box.
CAUTION The vibration in route could have loosened one or more wire connections. Before connecting power, the electrician should
check all screw connections in the control and junction boxes. The electrician must check rotation of all 3-phase motors. Don’t turn on
the heaters until the tank is full. However, to avoid rust, don’t fill the tank until you are ready for “start-up”.
1. LOCATION: Consider the following factors when choosing a location:
a. The unit will generate steam, so make sure this will have no adverse effects in the surrounding area.
b. Consider traction mats around the machine and avoid placing the machine next to a walkway.
c. Allow room for utility connections and service.
d. Make sure the site is level.
2. WATER AVAILABILITY: You will be adding water to the tank daily. Make sure you have access to a water hose.
CONTROLS/ OPERATION
Your parts washer is designed to clean parts by removing contaminants such as oil, grease, dirt, etc. with a detergent and water
solution. The washer cleans with a combination of mechanical force, heat, and the chemical action of the detergent.
You simply place your parts on the inside rack, shut the door, and turn the “Wash” timer to initiate the cycle. (ALWAYS MAKE
SURE THE DOOR IS LATCHED BEFORE STARTING THE WASH CYCLE.) During the automatic cycle, the parts are
sprayed from top and bottom with the hot solution. The solution is continuously filtered through the removable filter basket and
recycled. Generally, anything that can come off will come off within a 15-minute cycle.
The electric heating element is controlled with an adjustable thermostat. At the beginning of the day, turn the heat on to keep the
machine hot. Allow 1 to 1½ hours for the solution temperature to reach operating temperature. During the course of the day, the
heaters will automatically come on whenever the thermostat senses a temperature significantly below its set point.
The controls on the parts washer are:
60 MINUTE WASH TIMER: After latching the lid, set this timer for the length of the automatic wash cycle. Do not open the lid
until the timer reaches “0”.
15 MINUTE OIL SKIMMER
This is used to remove waste oil from the cleaning solution.
DOOR SAFETY SWITCH: Prevents the spray pump from coming on when the lid is open. This is a safety switch that is not to
be used for purposely stopping the wash cycle.

CHEMICAL SELECTION
CAUTION Our detergents are characterized as “generally safe” on all metals. This is not an absolute guarantee. If the parts are
critical, the customer should use their discretion. This product is not warranted against rust. Rust will occur if:
1. The wrong detergent is used.
2. The start up procedure is not followed.
3. The machine is not used on a regular basis. (In this case, spraying an oil product such as WD-40 on the inside
of the washer will inhibit rust.)
Using the correct detergent is critical to the performance of the washer and the life of the washer. The
detergent should meet the following criteria:
1. The detergent must have rust inhibiting agents to protect the
washer and your parts. Once the rusting process starts, it can be hard to stop.
2. The detergent should be strong enough to remove the contaminates, but not so strong that it corrodes
metal.
3. The detergent should only leave an acceptable amount of residue on the parts. For new parts in
particular, you may need a detergent that is “free rinsing”.
4. The detergent needs to be low foaming.
To ensure the satisfaction of our customers, we have developed a line of detergents and additives. The products that
we offer are:
1. TRANSMISSION CLEANER (POWDER) CHM-CABWASH50
This product gives you the maximum amount of cleaning power without being “caustic”. The powder is
generally safe on most metals (possibility of tarnish on brass and copper). It removes oils, grease, and
even light carbon deposits. It will also likely prevent rust on steel parts for 2-5 days.
2. DE-FOAM SOLUTION
If the contaminants on your parts cause foaming, this product
can be added to eliminate the foam.

START-UP PROCEDURE
CAUTION DO NOT start this procedure until you have read this manual in its entirety.
Before turning on the electric power, make sure that the heat and all wash timers are turned off. If the heating element is
turned on without water in tank, then the element could be damaged or ruined.
When using your parts washer for the first time, follow the steps below:
1. Make sure the electrical power on the machine is off.
2. Make sure the heat and wash timers are off.
3. Fill the tank so that the water is an inch inside the filtration screen.
4. Turn on the electrical power.
5. Make sure the door safety switch prevents the spray pump from coming on when the door is open.
To check this: Open the door, stand back, and turn on the wash timer. If water sprays out, DO NO use the
machine. Call your dealer.
6. Turn on the heating elements.
7. When the heat has been on an hour , add detergent following the detergent directions. (In the future,
you may want to increase or decrease the detergent concentration depending on cleaning results.)
8. Close and latch the door and run a 15 minute wash cycle to mix the detergent.
9. At this point, your washer is ready to use. Try to run the washer
for a total of two hours every day for the next two days to ensure sufficient coating with the rust
inhibitor.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER ANY PROBLEMS DURING THE START UP
PROCEDURE, CONTACT YOUR DEALER.

MAINTENANCE
It is a good idea to assign the responsibility of your parts washer to one person to avoid abuse and neglect.
DAILY MAINTENANCE
1. Check the water level, make sure that it is inside the filtration basket.
2. Clean any spray nozzles that are clogged.
3. If any solution has spilled onto the painted surface, wipe it off with fresh water.
4. Clean out the removable filtration basket.
5. Adjust the detergent concentration as needed.
WEEKLY, BIWEEKLY OR MONTHLY MAINTENANCE (DEPENDING ON USE)
1. Remove oil and sludge contamination. This will greatly prolong the life of your cleaning solution.
2. When the floating oil is around 1/4” to 1/2” deep, or when it starts to affect cleaning, run the oil skimmer.
HELPFUL HINTS
Since you cannot see the sludge the accumulate on the bottom of the tank, clean out the tank within the first week of use to
help develop an appropriate “clean-out” schedule.
Depending on the application, some businesses must clean out the sludge weekly while others can go months before cleaning.
SLUDGE REMOVAL PROCESS
DO NOT allow sludge accumulation to exceed 2 inches in depth, damage to the water pump could result. To clean out,
follow these steps:
1. Disconnect power to the washer.
2. If washer has been used recently, allow sufficient time for water to cool down.
3. Remove the filtration basket.
4. If necessary drain the water.
5. Scrape out the sludge while being careful not to hit the heating element.
6. Place the sludge in a drum and store it as hazardous waste.
7. Correct the water level (if altered), and replace filter basket
