PRIOR TO USE
Unpacking the device
• Carefully remove the device from the box and remove all packing material. Make sure that the box contains
all the parts:

• AC power cord
• Operating manual
• If any part is missing, contact your vendor. We recommend that you keep the original box and packing
materials for future use. The original packaging is the best way to protect the appliance during transport
from damage. When disposing of packaging material, follow local environmental regulations.
• Remove all xed and descriptive labels from the device. Do not remove warning labels or device type label.
Placement and installation of the device
• Before connecting to electricity, make sure that the voltage in your electrical network matches the data
on the type plate.
• When connecting and disconnecting, hold the power cord by the plug, never pull on the cord itself.
• When the power cord is plugged in, the machine is under voltage, even if it is turned o.
• To prevent contamination of the pickup lens, do not place the device in an environment with excessive
dust.
• Humidity condensation: If the unit is moved from acold environment to awarm one, or when used in
a place with excessive humidity, moisture may condense inside the unit, which may adversely aect
the function of the unit. In this case, remove the disc and do not use the unit for about 1 hour until the
moisture evaporates.
Power
Whenever possible, power the device from the electrical outlet, you will save the batteries life.
Inserting the batteries
Before inserting the batteries, be sure to unplug the power cord from the
electrical outlet.
1. Open the battery compartment and insert 6 type C batteries (not included)
with the correct polarity marked with (+) and (-) inside the battery
compartment.
2. Replace the battery cover and make sure that the batteries are properly
and rmly in place. The device is now ready for use.
Handling the batteries
• Improper use can cause corrosion or battery leakage, resulting in damage to the unit or personal injury.
• When inserting the batteries, observe the polarity (+ and -) marked inside the battery compartment.
• Use only the batteries recommended in this operating manual.
• Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of dierent types together.
• Do not throw old batteries in general household waste. Dispose of them in accordance with local laws.

Power supply
Before changing or disconnecting the power supply, always make sure that the device is properly
turned o.
1. Check that the local network voltage corresponds to the
values on the type label. Otherwise, contact your vendoror
service center.
2. Place the device so that the electrical outlet is easily
accessible.
3. Plug the power cord in AC INPUT~ and the other end into
an electrical power outlet. The device is now connected
and ready for use.
4. To switch o the appliance completely, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
When unplugging the device, always pull out the plug from the electrical outlet. If you disconnect
the power cord only from the device and leave it plugged in the socket, small children could be
seriously injured.
Connection of external devices
You can connect an external audio device to the AUX IN connector on the
device using acable with 3.5 mm connectors (not included).
Using headphones
Before connecting the headphones, lower the volume of the device. After you
connect the headphones, increase the volume until required level. The built-in
speakers will be automatically disconnected after you connect the headphones.
Prolonged exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. When
using headphones, avoid prolonged listening to loud music.
USING THE SYSTEM
To switch the device to (STANDBY) mode, move the function selector from the position "TAPE(OFF)" to the
required mode AUX, CD/USB or TUNER.
Setting the time
The clock on your radio is automatically set the rst time it is used since the time signal was broadcast with
DAB radio stations. If aDAB station is not available, the clock can be set manually via the system menu. (see
the section Clock setting).
Power on / wake up from standby mode
To turn the device on and o:
• Press the STANDBY button on the front panel.
The display lights up and the device is on. To switch the device to standby mode:
• Press briey the STANDBY button on the front panel.
The device then switches o. The clock will be displayed as long as the power is on.
Note: This unit is equipped with an automatic power-o / standby system to save power. This system is
regulated by the EU standard and it is not aDEFECT.

Initial station search
Iif this unit is turned on in the TUNER mode the rst time and you press the MODE button, the radio switches
to DAB mode. The display shows the progress of the station search:

The radio searches for all usable stations (full scan) and automatically stores them in positions 1-20. The initial
search takes afew minutes. After searching, the clock is set and the radio plays the name of the rst station in
the sequence. To search for another station, read the next section.
Station search
To search for another DAB station using the top panel controls:
• Turn the TUNING selector. The station list appears (<Station list>).
• Press the TUNING/SELECT button to select the displayed station. The radio tunes to the desaired station
after ashort delay.
Volume control
To adjust the volume from the top panel controls:
You can lower or increase the volume by turning the VOLUME button.
Setting the time
SETTING TIME AND DATE: This option allows for manual setting of the time and date when the DAB signal is
not available.
Manual setting of time and date:
• If the device is in the Standby mode, press MENU and then turn the button TUNING. Choose the option
Set Clock. Press TUNING/SELECT to conrm the action.
• Set the clock mode (12/24 hours): Turn the knob TUNING/ SELECT to select the time format (12 or 24
hours) and press again to go to the next setting.
• Set the hours by turning the knob TUNING/SELECT and press it to conrm.
• Set the minutes by turning the knob TUNING/SELECT and press it to conrm.
Software version
This option displays the version number of the software currently installed on your radio. This information will
help the technician who services this product.
If the unit is in the Standby mode, press MENU and then turn the knob TUNING to select the item SW Version.
Press TUNING/SELECT to conrm the action. The display shows the current software version.

Searching the DAB stations
Repeated search for DAB stations
The rst time you use it, your radio scans the DAB band and stores the available stations. The station services
found will be stored in your system’smemory.
If you move to another area or just refresh the saved list of available stations, you can search the band again
at any time.
Manual search for DAB stations:
• Set the switch to TUNER position and press the MODE button to select the DAB mode.
• Press the SCAN button on the front panel.
The station search process takes afew minutes. The number of services found during the search is shown on
the right side of the screen. After searching, the radio retunes to the rst station in the playlist, if available. To
select this station, you can continue browsing for another station as described on the previous page.
FULL SEARCH: Press the SCAN button to start automatic search.
MANUALTUNING: Press and hold theTUNING button for at least 10 seconds until "Manual tuning" appears on
the display. You can then manually search the DAB band and scroll through the station numbers to see if any
of them have usable signal strength.
Manual tuning is not necessary during normal operation, since automatic tuning always compiles acomplete
list of all available stations.
DAB display modes
Display mode setting
The bottom line of the display can be switched to show various items of information that can be transmitted
using aDAB station.
Information display selection:
• Press INFO on the front panel repeatedly to change the information displayed when playing aDAB radio
station.
• The full range of display options is shown below. Some stations might not broadcast all of these options.

Strength > Time/ Date
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment): This is ascrolling message providing real-time information - song titles, news
headlines, etc.
PROGRAMME TYPE: Describes the style of the broadcast program.
ENSEMBLE NAME: DAB digital radio stations are broadcast in multiplexes. Each multiplex is abundle of radio
stations transmitted on asignal frequency. There are national and local multiplexes. Local multiplexes contain
stations specic to your area. This option displays the name of the folder that contains the station you are
listening to.
SIGNAL STRENGTH: This setting displays asignal strength graph. The longer the bar graph, the stronger the
signal. The signal strength indicator is useful for adjusting the position of the antenna.
TIME/DATE: The time and date are updated with the broadcast information.
ENSEMBLE FREQ: This option displays the multiplex number and frequency that contains the station you are
listening to.
AUDIO BIT RATE: DAB allows radio stations to vary the bit rate (or audio compression rate) depending on the
type of broadcast. This allows you to maximize the number of stations on the multiplex. Speech and news are
often transmitted at alower bit rate, while music requires higher bit rates to maintain quality.

Station presets
The radio allows you to store up to 20 DAB or FM radio presets.
• Tune to the station you want to store as apreset.
• Press and hold PRESET button. "Preset empty P01" is displayed and P01 ashes.
• Turn the TUNING knob repeatedly to nd the preset number on which you want to store the station.
• For each preset number, the currently stored station is displayed or "Empty" if none is stored.
• Press the SELECT button once or twice to conrm that you want to store the station under the displayed
preset number.
To recall preset 1–20
• Press briey the PRESET button.
• Turn the TUNING knob repeatedly to select the number of the stored station you want to play.
• To play astored station, briey press the TUNING / SELECT button.
FACTORY RESET:This option resets all settings to the factory default settings.The clock, station lists and stored
preset stations will be deleted. When reset to factory settings, the radio will automatically scan the entire DAB
band.
• In DAB mode, press and hold the INFO button for at least 10 seconds until "Press ENTER key to reset"
appears on the display.
• Press the SELECT button to conrm the action.
Dynamic Volume Range Control (Dynamic Range Control, DRC)
The dynamic volume range allows you to make quieter sounds clearer when used in anoisy environment. The
DRC level is determined by the radio station and is transmitted along with the audio signal. Changing the DRC
value in your device allows you to scale the value specied by the radio station.
3 levels of compression are available:
DRC high: Maximum DRC value sent by aradio station.
DRC low: The DRC value sent by the radio station will be halved.
DRC o: No compression.
Hold the MENU / INFO button to enter the main menu.
Turn the TUNING button until DRC is displayed, then press the SELECT button.
Turn the TUNING knob to select the DRC value and press the SELECT button to conrm.
Note: Not all DAB broadcasts are able to use the DRC function. If the DAB broadcast does not support this
function, the DRC setting on the device will have no eect. After adjusting the DRC level, the souond
may be louder.
Removing stations
This function removes inactive stations.
Hold the MENU button to enter the main menu.
Turn the TUNING knob until“Prune”appears, and then press the SELECT button.
Turn the TUNING knob to the“Yes”position, then press the SELECT button to discard inactive stations.
Manual Scan
• Turn on the device in the DAB mode.
• Hold the MENU button to enter the main menu.
• Turn the TUNING knob until“Manual tune”appears, and then press the SELECT button.
• Turn the TUNING knob to select the desired channel (5 A– 13 F) and press the SELECT button to conrm.
• To select another channel (5 A– 13), turn the TUNING knob and press the SELECT button to conrm.
Listening to FM radio
This device can also receive FM radio stations and display RDS data (if the station broadcasts them).
To switch to FM bandwidth:
• Set the function selector to the TUNER option and press the MODE button to select the FM mode.

In FM radio mode, press TUNING / SELECT repeatedly to set the sound mode to AUTO or MONO.
SOUND SETTING: This option allows you to set the radio to receive FM in Auto (Mono / Stereo) or Mono mode
only. This can be useful if the signal is weak and the transmission is noisy.
CD playback
Compatible CD
This player can play CD and MP3 audio format.
To start CD playback:
• Set the function selector to CD / USB, and using the MODE button select the CD mode.
Inserting disc:
• Slowly lift the CD door on the top of the unit.
• Carefully place the disc on the center spindle with the label side up.
• Once the disc is in place, press the center of the disc until you hear aclick.
• Close the door of the CD compartment. After afew seconds, the disc and the data stored on it will be read.
Ejecting the disc:
• If the disc is playing, press STOP and wait afew seconds for the disc to stop.
• Slowly lift the CD compartment door. Grasp the sides of the disc and pull it out of the CD compartment.
Play / pause CD playback
• Insert aCD in the device.
• Press SCAN / uto start the CD playback.
• While playing the CD you can stop the playback any time by pressing SCAN / u. Press again to resume
playback.
Track selection:
• To select the p[revious or next track from the disc, turn briey the TUNING ., >knob.

Repeat and shue from aCD
Repeat and shue functions:
You can repeat one track, an entire disc, or select to play tracks in random
order.
To set repeat or shue mode:
• Press the MENU button to scroll through “Rep A” (repeat the current track), “Rep1 ALL” (repeat the entire
disc) or“Rand” (play tracks in random order) options.
• The Repeat, Repeat All, or Shue symbol appears.
Programmed playback
Repeat and shue functions
When playing aCD, you can store arandom order of up to 60 tracks that you want to play in the required order.
Saving the CD program:
• In CD stop mode, press PRESET / PROG.
• Turn the TUNING knob to select the number of the rst track you want to program. T000 appears on the
display ("000" means the desired track number).
• Press the PRESET / PROG button to save this track in the program memory. The track will be saved and the
program counter will increase to "P02".
• Repeat the above two steps to save other tracks in the order of your program.
• When you are nished entering all the songs in your program press the SCAN / ubutton to mark the
played program with astar.
Deleting program
• Press STOP twice during the program playback.
• Open the disc tray door.
Listening to aUSB drive
• Move the FUNCTION switch to CD / USB position.
• Press the MODE button until USB appears on the display.
• Press uto start playback.
• The control principles are the same as when playing aCD. See the previous section for details.
Note:
• Use acompatible memory storage device (up to 32 GB).
• Do not use aUSB extension cable to connect aUSB ash drive. Such acable may cause interference that
may interfere with the ow of data.
• Always connect aUSB ash drive directly to aUSB connector without an extension cable.
• Some USB drive manufacturers do not follow the full USB 1.1 / 2.0 standard. Therefore, asmall percentage
(about 5%) of USB ash drives may not be compatible with the radio.
Playing cassettes
• Set the FUNCTION selector to TAPE position.
• Press the xZ button to open the cassette compartment door, insert the cassette and close the door.
• Press bto start playback.
• If you want to pause the playback, press X. To resume playback press the button again.
• Stop the cassette playback by pressing xZ.
Fast forward/Rewind
• Press the mbutton until you reach the required location.
• Press the Mbutton to stop the fast forward/rewind.
The buttons are automatically released at the end of the cassette and the device turns o (unless you press X).
The buttons at the end of the tape will not be released when fast forwarding. If you want to turn o the device,
make sure the buttons are released by pressing xZ.

AUX input / headphone input jack
To play music from an external audio player connected to the AUX IN jack:
• Set the function AUX using the switch.
• Set the volume level of the external player to about half the level.
• Adjust the volume of the sound system to the desired level. If the volume is not set high enough, you may
need to increase the player’svolume setting.
Note: This device does not allow you to navigate the menu system of an external audio device when connected
via the AUX IN jack.
There is aheadphone jack on the back of the device.When headphones are connected to this jack, the speakers
turn o automatically.
MAINTENANCE
Cleaning the device
Make sure that the device is entirely switched o before cleaning.
• Clean the surface of the device using lightly wet cloth.
• Do not use cleaning agents containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasive ingredients.
• Do not use cleaning sprays on or near the device.
Handling the discs
• Do not touch the media side of the disc.
• Do not stick any labels on adisc.
Disc cleaning
• Fingerprints and dust on the surface of the disc may
degrade the quality of reproduction. Keep discs clean at all
times.Wipe the disc with ane cloth from the center towards
the edge.
• If adisc cannot be cleaned with adry cloth, use aslightly
damp cloth and then wipe dry.
• Do not use solvents such as paint thinner or benzine,
commercially available cleaners or anti-static spray, you could damage the disc.
Disc storage
Do not store the discs in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
Do not store the discs in places exposed to dust and moisture, such as in abathroom or near ahumidier.
Storing discs vertically in abox, placing discs on top of each other, or placing foreign objects on discs without
abox may cause them to become deformed.
Cleaning the tape player
Use cotton swabs soaked in alcohol or aspecial solution to clean the
tape heads.
1. Press to open the door of the cassette tape compartment.
2. Press the button and clean the rubber pressure roller (A).
3. Press the button and clean the magnetic heads (C) and spindle
(B).
4. Press after cleaning.
