SAFETY SYMBOLS
The purpose of safety symbols is to attract your attention to possible dangers. The
safety symbols and the explanations with them deserve your careful attention and

instructions and warnings they give are no substitutes for proper accident prevention
measures.
WARNING: Be sure to read and understand all safety instructions in this
Operator’s Manual, including all safety alert symbols such as “DANGER,” “WARNING,”
and “CAUTION” before using this machine. Failure to follow all instructions listed below
may result in electric shock, re, and/or serious personal injury.
SYMBOL MEANING
SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL: Indicates DANGER, WARNING, or CAUTION. May
be used in conjunction with other symbols or pictographs.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! When using electric gardening machines, basic safety precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock, and personal injury,
including the following:

56-VOLT LITHIUM-ION POLE SAW — PS1000/PS1000-FC 7
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
DANGER! Do not operate near electrical power lines. The unit has not been
designed to provide protection from electric shock in the event of contact with
overhead electric lines. Consult local regulations for safe distances from overhead
electric power lines and ensure that the operating position is safe and secure before
operating the pole saw.
CAUTION! Wear appropriate personal hearing protection during use. Under some
conditions and durations of use, noise from this product may contribute to hearing loss.
◾Avoid dangerous environment – Don’t use machines in damp or wet locations.
◾Keep children away - All visitors should be kept at a distance away from work
area.
◾Dress properly - Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in
moving parts. Use of rubber gloves and substantial footwear is recommended
when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.
◾Use safety glasses. Always use face or dust mask if operation is dusty.
◾Use right machine - Do not use machine for any job except that for which it is
intended.
◾Do not grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up
or holding the machine.
◾Do not force machine - It will do the job better and with less likelihood of a risk
of injury at the rate for which it was designed.
◾Do not overreach - Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
◾Stay alert - Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate
machine when you are tired.
◾Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain. Do not remove cut
material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Make sure the switch
is off when clearing jammed material. Saw chain continues to move after the
switch is turned off. A moment of inattention while operating the pole saw may
result in serious personal injury.
◾Carry the pole saw by the handle with the saw chain stopped. When
transporting or storing the pole saw, always t the chain sheath. Proper handling
of the pole saw will reduce possible personal injury from the saw chain.

56-VOLT LITHIUM-ION POLE SAW — PS1000/PS1000-FC8
◾Hold the pole saw by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the saw
chain may contact hidden wiring. A saw chain contacting a “live” wire may
make exposed metal parts of the pole saw “live” and could give the operator an
electric shock.
◾Do not use the pole saw in bad weather conditions, especially when there is
a risk of lightning. This decreases the risk of being struck by lightning.
◾To reduce the risk of electrocution, never use near any electrical power
lines. Contact with or use near power lines may cause serious injury or electric
shock resulting in death.
◾Always use two hands when operating the pole saw. Hold the pole saw with
both hands to avoid loss of control.
◾Always use head protection when operating the pole saw overhead. Falling
debris can result in serious personal injury.
◾Store idle machines indoors - When not in use, machines should be stored
indoors in a dry and high or locked-up place with the battery pack removed and
out of reach of children.
◾Maintain machine with care - Keep cutting edge sharp and clean for best
performance and to reduce the risk of injury. Follow instructions for lubricating
and changing accessories. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
◾Check damaged parts - Before further use of the product, a guard or other part
that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate
properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts,
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other condition
that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be
properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless indicated
elsewhere in this manual.
◾Do not charge the battery pack in rain, or in wet locations.
◾Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position
before connecting to battery pack, picking up or carrying the machine.
Carrying the machine with your nger on the switch or energizing machine that
have the switch on invites accidents.
◾Disconnect the battery pack from the machine before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing machine. Such preventive
safety measures reduce the risk of starting the machine accidentally.
◾Do not modify or attempt to repair the machine or the battery pack (as
applicable) except as indicated in the instructions for use and care.

56-VOLT LITHIUM-ION POLE SAW — PS1000/PS1000-FC 9
◾Do not use a battery pack or machine that is damaged or modied. Damaged
or modied batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in re,
explosion or risk of injury.
◾Use machines only with specically designated battery packs. Use of any
other battery packs may create a risk of injury and re.
◾Have servicing performed by a qualied repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained.
◾Use only with the battery packs and chargers listed below:

eyes. It is electrically conductive and corrosive.
◾Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the battery with
conducting materials such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The battery or
