1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the floor grinding machine of Floor IQ. This manual
describes the floor grinding machine type VLFR-D4.0. This manual contains
important information regarding usages and safe operation of the machine.
Carefully read this manual before operating the self-propelled floor grinding
machine.
Keep this manual always near the machine, for consulting the instructions and
safety regulations at all time.
2. Machine description
Application
The VLFR-D4.0 self-propelled is a motorized floor grinding machine for dry
grinding into sand cement or anhydrite floors or for wet grinding into hard –
concrete floors. The machine as a diamond cutting wheel. The upper half of the
cutting blade is shielded by a metal shield provided with a vacuum connection.
The machine can be used for dry or wet grinding, in combination with the right
vacuum cleaner a dust-free working environment will be created. When using the
machine for wet grinding surfaces ensure to connect a wet vacuum cleaner.
Current regulations require that the machine has a M-class or higher class filter
cartridge when using it for dry surfaces.
Accessories
This type of floor grinding machine can operate various kind of cutting blades
with different widths.
The machine is standard equipped with a size / distance conductor. The power
flow (400V) version has also a connection for wet grinding. The mono phase
(230V) version can only be used for dry grinding.
Safety function
To prevent the floor grinding machine from overloading, a thermal protector has
been installed. The thermal protector only allows 14 Amps for the 230V machine
and 9 Amps for the 400V machine. It is strictly forbidden to exceed these
amounts.

3.
Safety
Read the safety precautions before using the floor grinding machine. Carefully
follow up the instructions when using the machine.
KEEP THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS near the machine, to refer to them at all
times.
Environmental conditions
•
NEVER use the floor grinding machine if there are near or at the
workplace flammable liquids or gases.
•
Please, consult the technical drawings or use a detection device to
ensure that there are no water- and/or electrical lines below the
surface of grinding.
•
NEVER use the floor grinding machine when the workplace is not
cleared and there is a hazard for tripping. Also, make sure that the
workplace is lit.
•
Make sure that there are no other people in the vicinity of the
workplace. NEVER allow children at the workplace. Make sure no one
comes near the floor grinding machine.
•
NEVER be distracted when operating the floor grinding machine.
•
Provide an easy posture.
•
Always use the proper personal protection equipment as listed below.
Loading and unloading
•
The machine can be detached into three parts, making it more
convenient to lift by several persons. On the back of the machine,
two wheel have been fitted. These wheels increase the mobility of
the machine.
Personal protection equipment
The following personal protection equipment should be worn at all time.

Safety shoes
•
Safety goggles
•
A class P3 dust mask
•
Do not wear any jewellery or loose clothing.

Electronical dangers
•
Always connect your electrical cable to a switchboard / plug which is
connected to an earth leakage circuit breaker. Ensure the fuse has a
maximum capacity of 16A.
•
NEVER operate the floor grinding machine if the working place is
moist or wet.
•
NEVER operate the floor grinding machine outside while it is raining.
•
The floor grinding machine is an electrical device. To prevent electric
shock injuries and reduce the risk of fire, ALWAYS follow the safety
instructions.
•
The floor grinding machine is equipped with a grounded plug. NEVER
replace the grounded plug for an ungrounded plug.
•
Please ensure at all times, that the power socked is equipped with a
grounded socked.
Sawing-blades
•
Exclusively use sawing-blades of Flooriq. These sawing-blades are
produced with an OSA certificate. Thereby meeting the highest safety
standards regarding diamond products.
•
NEVER use sawing-blades with different diameters, bigger or smaller.
•
Please ensure the floor grinding machine is clean. Keep the handles
dry and free of oil or fat.
•
The sawing-blades are sharp, please handle with care.
•
When changing the sawing-blade, always take the plug out of the
power socked before removing the plastic nuts of the dust cover.
Warning symbols
The following icons, with the corresponding command- and warning
symbols, can be found on the floor grinding machine.

4.
Obligated checks before usages
The following check are mandatory before using the floor grinding machine.
NEVER operate the floor grinding machine, when one or more of the following
checks is insufficient.
Check if your current supply:
The extension cords are safe for the aimed work. Electrical cables are fully rolled
off the reels. The total length of the cable to the connected plug does not exceed
20 meters at 230V or not more as 40 meters at 400V.
The electrical cable has a minimum diameter of 2,5mm2.
Electrical cables do not have breakages or damages. No water is near the working
spot.
At the working spot use an electrical socked which is earthed.
Check the floor grinding machine if:
The operating switch is OFF. This to prevent the machine of starting when being
plugged in. Safety functions and operating switch function correctly. Change a
defect component before operating the machine. Ensure the sawing-blade is not
distorted, damaged or malfunctions. Replace the sawing-blade if needed. Ensure,
the sawing-blade and clip of the sawing-blade are correctly secured. The protection
cover of the sawing-blade is correctly mounted and secured. No tools or keys are
being placed on the floor grinding machine.

5.
Operating
When operating the floor grinding machine, the following safety measures have to
be followed.
Only use earthed electrical cables with a diameter of at least 2,5mm2.
Ensure, when operating the machine, no unnecessary things are placed on the
machine. NEVER stop the sawing-blade by placing pressure on the side of the
blade.
Only use original sawing-blades of Flooriq.
Removing the sawing-blade
ALWAYS remove the plug from the socked before changing the sawing-blade. Also,
wear a dust mask of class P3. Furthermore, make sure the sawing-blade is
completely out of the floor.

Remove the plastic nut of the dust hood and remove the hood.

Remove the plastic nut from the electronic depth shaft
(warning: prevent the engine from moving) and carefully tilt
the engine forward.

Turn the 6-sided nut from the shaft with the appropriate wrench.

Remove the sawing-blade.
Mounting the sawing-blade
Mounting the sawing-blade happens in reversed order.

Place the new sawing-blade over the shaft.

Turn the 6-sided nut tightly around the shaft with the
appropriate wrench.

Carefully tilt the engine forward and place the plastic nut onto
the electronic depth shaft.

Place the dust hood pack onto the machine and secure it with
the plastic nut.
Adjust the sawing depth

Turn the switch to “in” to lower the sawing-blade into the floor
and release the switch when reaching the preferred depth.

Turn the switch to “out” to remove the sawing-blade from the
floor.
Warning: Always turn on the vacuum before lowering the sawing-blade into the
floor.

Switching the machine On / Off
Switching the machine on
1Always turn on the vacuum before turning on the machine.
2Pull out the red emergency button.
3Press the green button on top of the machine.
4The machine is starting up. Please, wait a moment to let the
machine completely start.
5Adjust the sawing-blade to the required depth.
6Start grinding the floor.
Switching the machine off
1Remove the sawing-blade from the surface and switch the switch
to “off”.
2Press the red button on top of the machine.
3The machine will turn itself off. After the machine is turned off,
turn off the vacuum. In case that the white light stays on (only at
the 400V edition) an error has been detected. This will prevent
the grinding engine from starting. To solve this error, the phase
needs to be changed. Before changing, ensure that there is no
power on the machine anymore.
Driving system
Place both hands on the handles to drive straight. When only placing a hand on the
left handle, the machine will turn right. When only placing a hand on the right
handle, the machine will turn left. The driving speed will be determined by the
meter on top of the electrical box. The driving speed will be influenced by the
hardness / resistance of the floor. For the 230V version the maximum is 14
Amp

re, for the 400V version the maximum is 9 Amp

Warning: It is strictly forbidden blocking one or both handles. This will prevent the
machine from automatically stopping if the handles are being released.
6. Maintenance
Regularly check the condition of the sawing-blade. Directly replace the sawing-
blade when its damaged, distorted, or outworn.
Prevent premature wear by keeping the machine dust free. Regularly clean the
machine with a vacuum.
Repairs may only be conducted by suppliers or certified workers. If the repair
has not been done by Flooriq, warranty on the machine will be voided. Keep
your machine safe and reliable.
