Amplifier
Owner’s
Manual
Congratulations
and
thank
you
on
your
selection
of
a
zce
all
tube
guitar
amplifier.
Please
read
this
manual
before
operating your
amp.
Tube amplifiers
contain
potentially
lethal
voltages
even
after
they
are
unplugged
that
may
cause
injury
or
death.
Do
not
attempt
to
repair
or
modify
any
amplifier
unless
you
are
absolutely
certain
you
are
qualified
to
do
so.
To
reduce
the risk
of
fire or
shock
hazard
do
not
expose
the amp
to
moisture.
Plug
the amp
into
a
3
prong grounded
AC
outlet
only.
Do
not
alter
the
AC
plug.
Output
tubes
run
very
hot.
Turn
off
amp and
let
it
to
cool
before
replacing
tubes.
Never
operate
the
amp
unless a
speaker
is
connected
to
one
of
the speaker
jacks;
doing
so
may
damage
the
output
transformer
and
will
void
your
warranty.
Replace
all
tubes
and
fuses
using
only
the
same types.
If
you
remove
the
chassis
from
the
cabinet
be
careful not
to
dent the
edges
of
the
faceplate.

Speakers.
When
using
one speaker, always
plug into the Spkr
jack.
Use
the
Ext
jack
when
a
second
speaker
is
used.
The
output
impedance
is
8
ohms
and
the
impedance
of
the
stock speaker
is
also
$
ohms.
It
is
possible
to
connect
the
speaker output
to
a
load
of
4
to
16
ohms
without
causing
any
problems.
Never
operate
the amp

Doing
so
may
damage
the

will
void

Unplug
the

and
allow

minutes.
To
replace

remove
the
aluminum shield
and
gently
pull
the
tube
out
using
a
slight
circular rocking
motion.
To
remove
the
large
power
and
rectifier
tubes,
push both
sides
of
the
retaining
clips
away from the base
of
each
tube
and
pull
with
a
circular
motion.
To
install
tubes, ensure
that
the
gap
between
pins
on
a
small
tube
(or
the
key
in
the
base
of
a
large tube)
aligns
properly with
each

Suggested Settings
Any
numerical
reference
to
a
control
setting
assumes
a
scale
of
0
—
10,
with
0
fully
counterclockwise,
10
fully
clockwise,
and
5
straight
up.
for
“Clean”
tones:
Leave
Gain
at
0
and
Master
Volume
at
10.
Adjust Volume, Treble,
Midrange,
&
Bass for
desired
tone.
The
sound
will
begin
to
distort
as
the Volume
is
turned
past
5
or
so,
depending
on
the
guitar
and
picking
technique
used.
To
add
some
“Crunch”: Start
with
a
clean
setting
and
turn
the
Gain
to
1
or
2.
The
amp
will get
considerably louder
as
the
Gain
is
turned
up.
When
the
Gain
is
set
at
4
or
above,
it
effectively
removes
the
EQ
from
the circuit
and
the
Treble,
Midrange,
&
Bass
controls
no
longer
have
any
effect.
THIS
IS
PERFECTLY

NORMAL. When
the
Gain
is
set
at
4
or
above,
use
the
tone
control(s)
on
your
guitar to
affect
the
tone.
For
“Distorted”
tones:
Set
Volume
and
Gain
in
a
range
of
4
—
10.
Overall
volume
can
be
reduced
by
turning
the
Master
Volume down from
10.
Spend some
time
experimenting.
Try
the
Gain
on
10
and
gradually turn
up
the
Volume
to
increase
distortion. Or
turn
the Volume
to
10
and
adjust
the
Gain.
F
or maximum
distortion,
set
both
the
Volume
&
Gain
to
10
and
control overall
volume
with
the
Master
Volume.
A
small,
low-powered
tube
amp
like
this
will
generate
distortion
in
both
the
preamp
and
power
tubes.
The
Master
Volume
is
“between”
these tubes
in
the
circuit.
Turning
it
down
will
reduce
the
power tube
distortion
and
“clean
up”
the
sound
to
a
certain
extent.
Gain
Foot
Switch:
Connecting
a
foot
switch
to
the
rear
panel
jack
allows
you
to toggle
between
the
sound
&
volume produced
by
the
setting
of
the
Gain
control
and
the
sound
with
the
Gain
set at
0.
By
setting
the
Gain
around
2-4
this
can
be
used
as
a
boost
for
solos.
The
Bright
Switch
is
more
effective
at
lower
settings
of
the
Volume
control.
