This Owner's Guide
is intended to provide a useful overview of your new
EF-5 and how to best install and operate it for many years of enjoyment,
safety and satisfaction. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with
its features. If you have any questions or need additional information,
contact your authorized HiFiMAN dealer.
Product Overview
The HiFiMAN EF-5 is a powerful hybrid headphone amplifier. The term
hybrid refers to its integration
of the clear top 12 AU? vacuum tube and
the OPA275 as
op-amp. The EF-5 is compatible with a wide range of
headphones of different impedances and efficiencies.

Front panel layout
1) Power switch: pull up to turn the amplifier on, pull down to turn off
2) Headphone jack: connect with headphones
3)Volume control: turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise
to reduce volume

Caution
1.
Before connecting, make sure your local power supply voltage matches
the voltage
of
the supporting transformer. If not, oryou are not sure,
please contact your authorized HiFiMAN dealer.
2.
Make sure the power switch on the front panel
is
in
off position.
3.
Connect the power cord
of
the transformer to the power supply socket
and the other end
of
the transformer to the amplifier.
4.
Make sure the supplied vacuum tube
is
correctly installed.
5.
Use an audio cable to connect the audio input jack
of
EF-5
and the output
jack
of
the music source. Do not reverse the L/R channel orientation.
6.
Turn the amplifier on and when LED on the front panel lights up,
it
indicates that the protection circuit
is
working normally. Now you are
ready to enjoy listening.
7.
After shutdown, wait at least 5 seconds before turning the amp back on.
