Thank you for purchasing HKS OB-LINK TYPE-001.
OB-LINK TYPE-001 is a device which plugs into to a
vehicle OBD II port and transmits vehicle data
(Engine Rpm, Water Temperature, Oil Temperature,
A/F correction and feedback, Fuel
economy,Brake,Steering rudder angle,etc.) by
Bluetooth connection.
The information from OB-LINK TYPE-001 can be
displayed by installing exclusive application
(CarscopePlus, OB-BRIDGE) in Android / iOS device.
The OB-LINK TYPE-001 has a logging function. If
application (OBLink LogManager) for exclusive use
performs a logging setup, log data is saved OB-LINK
TYPE-001.
The saved data can be read by OBLink LogManager.
●This manual indicates items you need to pay attention to in order to
install this product safely and lists precautions to avoid any possible
damage and/or accidents.
●HKS will not be responsible for any damage caused by incorrect use or
use after modification and/or dismantling of this product.

Below are symbols used in this manual to highlight areas where.
●Daily check-up of the vehicle must be done by the owner.
Warning
● Make sure to work on the vehilce in a well-ventilated area to
prevent possible explosion or fire.
Do not mount the unit where it can distract driving.
● Do not install this product on a 24V vehicle. It is designed for
use on a 12V vehicle.
● Make sure to hold connectors when removing them to avoid
possible damage to other electronic parts caused by
disconnections or by a short circuit.
Stop using the product if any unusual conditions are oticed;
it may cause a fire or an electrical shock.Consult an
authorized dealer immediately.
Caution
● Do not modify, disassemble and/or remodel this product and
any of its attached parts.
● Handle the parts with caution at all times.
● Avoid allowing oil and/or water from entering the unit.It may
cause damage to the engine.
● Make sure all connections and wiring are not disconnected,
short circuited, or incorrect. If so,it may cause an electric
shock, burn out, or damage to the vehicle.
● If the product or the vehicle with the product does not perform
properly, consult the dealer immediately.

Installation
1.Locate OBD II port
Locate the OBD II port plug on the vehicle. Details
can be found from the following website address:

2. Install Application
① Installation of “OB-BRIDGE” (for Android)
② Installation of “CarscopePlus”
③ Installation of “OBLink LogManager※”
※ It is required to use the log function of OB-LINK
TYPE-001. (June, 2014 release)
Please search the application from a store or
download it from the section 1.

Prior to installation and use, thoroughly read the
instruction manual. Retain this instruction manual
for later reference.

warning is not acknowledged or followed.
Caution
-Risk of injury to self, damage to vehicle or
property may result if caution is not taken.
Parts List
Make sure that all of the parts listed in the Parts List are
included in the kit.
3.Bluetooth Setting (Pairing)
① Switch on the Bluetooth of the device to be paired.
② Connect the OB-LINK TYPE-001 to the OBD II port
found in section 1.
③
Please start the engine, or you turn "ON" a key
switch.
④ Pair the devices using Bluetooth passkey “7181”

4. Application Initial Setup
Launch CarscopePlus and tap setting.
① Select Device
Tap device select on setting menu.
Select OB-LINK 001 in the Paired device list.
●This product was designed for installation and use on a factory vehicle or
a vehicle using other HKS products.The performance and/or safety
cannot be guaranteed if this product is installed onto other vehicles
than mentioned above.
●This product is applicable for any vehicle that operates on a DC12V
negative ground.
●The specifications of this product, including installation are subject to
change without prior notice.

safety.
● If work needs to be performed outside the
scope of this manual, consult a professional.
● Do not use this product if unusual occurrences
should occur. Consult with your dealer immediately.
● If any unusual noise, scents, and/or vibrations are
noticed, stop using the product to prevent a fire
and/or short circuit.
● Do not try to repair the product yourself.
Consult with your dealer.

(Please check pairing settings)

Illuminated: Select Cartype is OK
Flashing: Select Cartype Error
If the OB-LINK TYPE-001 is connected to the OBD II
port and Device setup and vehicle protocol type are
not set correctly. OB-LINK TYPE-001 will switch off
after 2 minutes. When resetting, please unplug from
the OBD II port and restart connection process.
Use the included hook and loop tape to secure the
OB-LINK TYPE-001 unit in a location which will not
obstruct driving.
7.Fixing OB-LINK TYPE-001
● OB-LINK TYPE-001 will automatically switch ON
when it detects that the application and engine
are started (ECU power ON)
If the engine is stopped (ECU Power OFF),
Bluetooth connection is lost or the application is
closed, OB-LINK TYPE-001 will automatically
switch off.
● If an engine related problem is detected, An
Error code is displayed. If you see this please
consult an HKS Pro Shop or specialist.
② Select Cartype
Tap Cartype select on setting menu.
From “OB-LINK car application list” you can
download from HKS site,select Cartype according
to your car OB-LINK TYPE-001 attached.

If ① and ② are set correctly, the OB-LINK TYPE-001
LED will illuminate as follows:
● Do not use this product if any unusual noises or
scents are detected.
Consult your Authorized HKS Dealer immediately.
Otherwise, it may cause electric shock or fire.

5. The check of IG signal line
To let OB-LINK TYPE-001 reflect OBD meter,
connection of IG signal line is required. There are
vehicles which have IG signal line in an OBDⅡ
coupler. In that case, connection of IG signal wire is
unnecessary.
Please check IG signal line by the method of ① or ②.
① Check a connection status by the OBDⅡ coupler.
As with the illustration, check whether a terminal
has been inserted at the edge of upper right.
Caution
● Please ensure that OB-LINK TYPE-001 or the wiring
does not contact with water.
If OB-LINK TYPE-001 or its wiring contact water,
there may be problems with operation and could
possible cause damage to OB-LINK TYPE-001 or the
vehicle.
● If it is being unused for long periods (over 2weeks)
please disconnect the OB-LINK TYPE-001 as it can
lead to battery drain.The current draw during
standby is approximately 0.2[mA].
IG signal line
Case 1. In the event that the terminal has been
inserted,it has the IG signal line.
Case 2. If it's none, it doesn't have the IG signal line.
② Check a connection status by the application,
“CarscopePlus” .
Run CarscopePlus and tap it in order of setting” ,
"Check of the IG signal line".
Case 1. If a message “IG signal line is OK” is
displayed, it has the ignition signal line.
Case 2. If a message “IG signal line is NG” is
displayed, it doesnʼ t have the ignition
signal line.
Connect the Ignition signal line if Ignition signal line
isn't in the OBD2 coupler. (Refer to Article 6)
6. Connection of IG signal wire
Splice to
the IG line
① Connect the Redwire of the IG signal-Pick-up
harness to the Red wire of the OB-LINK
TYPE-001.
② Splice these to the line that outputs 12V while IG
is on.(like a power line of a cigar socket)
