Instructions for use
1.GENERAL NOTES
Purpose andFeatures
HORIZON-202 is aspecial camerawith afixed built-inlens intended fortakingvarious panorama pictures: reportings,
landscapes,interiors,sports events, fashion, tourism, architecture,etc., bothbythe amateurand professional
photographers.It canbe usedto take various pictures on black- and-white orcolor films.
Features ofthe HORIZON-202camera:
— Shutter cockinglever withlockings against half-anddouble-cocking andquite small angle of cocking (210°) forthe given
frame size makes for fast picture taking and improves cameraperformance.
— Metallic focal shutter with shutter speeds 1/2, 1/4,1/8, 1/60, 1/125 and 1/250 s enables to shoot in various conditions
(indoors oroutdoors at poorlighting); low temperatures (up to —15°C) practicallydo not impair shutter operation.
— Rotating lens,when shooting,ensures thenecessaryimage qualityall over the frame areadueto eliminating ofthe
inevitable optical distortionwhichoccurs whentakingpictures withwide-angle lenses.
— Frame counter,automaticallyre-settingto the initial position whenreloadingthe film, releases the amateurfrom setting
the counter to,,0"manually.
— Optical viewfinder enablesto determine theexact limits of the object to be photographed. Correct camera position(strictly
horizontal) is controlled bythe level seen inthe viewfinderfield of view.
— Filmrewind crankand shutter disengaging buttonof stay-put type cutdownthetime necessary for preparation of the
cameraforshooting.
— Back doorlockis interlocked with the film rewind crank which makesforsimplified and fast filmreloading.
Handling Rules
The camera is aprecise optical-mechanicalinstrument. It should be handled carefully, kept cleanandprotected from jolts,
dust, moistureand sharptemperaturefluctuations.
Donotremove the camerafrom its case the moment it is brought indoors from cold to avoid sweating of its parts, especially
optical ones.Do nottouch the surfaces ofthe optical parts with fingers since it maydamagetheircoatings. Clean the coated
optical surfaces with acleansoft clothor cotton wool wadslightly moistened withrectified alcohol orether.
Keep the cameraclosed in itscase. Loadand unload the cameraindoors or inshade protectingit against direct sun lightor
bright artificial illumination. Always windthe shutter as faras it will go. Whentakingpictures infrosty weather, it is betterto
keep the camera underyour street- clothes and take it out only for the time of shooting.

2. OPERATINGPROCEDURE
Loading the Camera
The camera accepts standardcassettes loaded with any type of 35mm film. If you load the cassettewith film on your own,
be sureto properly secure thefilm endin thecassette spoolto prevent itbreaking awayfrom thespoolduring operation.
Seeto it that the film leader is free from bends and folds and cut to the standardform.Thecameraloadingshould not be
done indirect sun light.
Load the camera in conformity with a diagram depicted ontheback door.— Flip open film rewind crank 8 and holding it, pull
outrewindknob 5asfaras it will go. Holding the filmrewind knob inthis position, openback door2,0with your second
hand.
— Carefully insert the filmleaderunder guiding roller 15 and draw out the filmbyabout 12-15 cm.
— Put aloaded cassette into socket 13pullingout the rewindknobas far as itwill go.
— Return the film rewind knob completely home slightly turningitto letspool guide 14 enterthe cassette.
—Pass the film leaderunder sprocket18 so thatit appears from under take-up spool 19. To make this process easier rotate
the sprocket withyour fingerswith button 21pressed down.
—Insert thefilm leader into the slot ofthe take-up spool anddrawthe film back ontothefilm gate.Makesure thatthe
sprocket tooth engage afilm perforation hole.Reel theappeared loop on thetake-up spool rotating shuttercocking lever2.
The film should be placed on film channel guides 16without skewing.
—Closethe back door 20 tightlypressing it to make the lock latch.Cock and fire the shutter.—To transportanonexposed
portionof film to thefilm gate, cock and firetheshutter once again. Whencocking theshutter for the second time the frame
countershould be set at „!",the latterbeing positioned approximately in the centre of exposurecounterwindow 12.Now you
areready to shoot.Theshutter is cocked by turningsmoothly lever 2counter-clockwise to its fullest extent and released by
pressing release button 11.Should thefilmbe woundtightly in thecassette, thefilm rewind knobwill rotate whenthe
shutter is being cocked.If the film is loose inthe cassette,the rewind knobwill failto rotate at the first frames.
Automatic frame counter shows the number of the framebeingpositionedagainst the film gate.
Put the film box label withfilm speed indicatedonit,intofilm check pocket24.
Operating Mode Setting
ShutterSpeed Setting
Turnoperating mode selection switch 7 to set therequired shutter speed range from 2to 8 or 60to 250; setlever 9 against
the requiredshutter speedvalue.Eeach position of thelever is click-stopped.
Aperture Setting
Set aperture setting lever10opposite to the required aperture value. Eachpositionof the leveris click-stopped.
Atexposuredeterminingto obtain pictures of higher quality theapertureshould be smaller and shutterspeed longer.
Shutterspeed and aperture should be set only with the shutter cocked.
DepthofField of the Lens
TheMC2.8/28fixedbuilt-in lens hasno distancescale.To determine thedepthof field,make use of thetablesetforth
below. Forexample,withaperture set at 8,the depth of field will be from2mto infinity.

Picture Taking
Cock the shutter.
When shooting holdthe camerainthe wayshown inthe picture Be sure thatthe frame is not blocked byyourfingers.Aim
the camera atthe object to be photographed and looking throughthe viewfinderdetermine its limits.
Camerahorizontal position is adjusted by level 3At correct camerapositionwhichprevents aperspective ydistortedpicture,
the level ball should be mthe centre ofthe lightcircle seenin the viewfinderfieldof view.
Forvertical shotsnolevel is used.Having prepared the cameraforshootingpress the release button as far as it will goto
take anictiirp REMEMBER,that sharp prosingon the release buttonresults in camerashake at the moment of exposure and
thus in blur of thepicture.

To takepictureswithlonger exposures than1/60stheshutter is better released with the help ofacablerelease which is
screwed into the release button socket.
You can as well makeuse of atripod having removed the handle beforehand.
Mounting the Handle
Take the handle outofthecase. Removetheend-cap 23fromthecamera locatinghole. To do this takeapressure on the
end-capwithyour thumb and turn it ineither sidestill it comes out of the camera.
Put the handle in thehole andpressing it tothe cameraturn it in either directionto a click-stop.
Atcorrect mounting of the handlethekey should be onthe outerside of the camera. To remove thehandle from the camera
press the key downto astop and turnthe handle till it comes out of the camera.
CameraUnloading
Whentheexposure counter shows figure 22,the film should be rewound back into thecassette and the cameraunloaded. To
do this:
— Press button 21 on thecamera bottom.
—Flip open crank8and rotateitin the arrowdirection tillthe filmleader leavesthe take upspool.Try to rotate thecrank
smoothly,without jerks and not toofast to avoidtraces of static electricity on film.
— Pull filmrewind knob5alltheway out; open the back door.Removethe cassette, holding the filmrewindknob.
If necessary,the cameracanbeunloadedafter exposing any number offrames,havingrewoundthe film into the cassette
beforehand.
Mounting the Light Filters
Mountthe lightfilter on thecamera.To dothis, with thehelp oftheshuttercockinglever,alignthe lensaxis withthe film
gate centrein body.Throughthecylindrical cup windowput thelight filter mount into the lens body socket.Inso doing,
press the light filter spring and put it behind thecup window(see the diagram, page 17). To removethelightfilter,take the
second one deliveredwith camera,and coupling the hooks,slightly draw the light filter in the directionindicatedby an arrow
in the above mentioned diagram.aults have been discovered, do not carryout therepaironyour own.
