Chapter 1 –Performance description
Chapter 1 - Performance description
In this chapter you learn
▪for which purpose you use this HD 450 / HD 450 Injection
▪what benefits you will achieve by using this HD 450 / HD 450 Injection
Intended use
Purpose of use
The HD 450 / HD 450 Injection is a washer-disinfector intended for use in the
medical field, e.g. in clinics and medical officies.
Universal Use
In this washer-disinfector, also called washer-disinfector, reprocessable medical
devices can be cleaned and thermally disinfected. This means that instruments that
are heat-resistant up to a temperature of 95 °C can be reprocessed by machine,
provided they are suitable and approved by the instrument manufacturer.
In the remainder of this manual, the washer-disinfector is referred to as the
appliance. In this user manual, reprocessable medical devices are generally
referred to as instruments if the medical devices to be reprocessed are not defined
in more detail.
Cleaning and disinfection
The preparation of the instruments and other wash ware is achieved by the use of
water in combination with a chemical cleaner.
The final disinfection is carried out by thermal disinfection.
According to the A0-concept of EN ISO 15883-1, thermal disinfection is carried out
with the parameters 90°C (+ 5°C, - 0°C) and 5 min exposure time (A0 3000). This
kills vegetative bacteria and fungi or fungal spores and inactivates viruses (incl.
HBV, HCV), i.e. the effective range AB according to the RKI guideline is achieved. If
necessary, legal or official regional instructions must be observed for disinfection.
Important for adequate cleaning of the instruments is the use of appropriate load
carriers (baskets, modules, inserts, etc.).
According to DIN EN ISO 15883 the device can be qualified for the validation of the
processes
NOTE
The devices of the HD 450 series are expressly NOT suitable for
following applications:

Chapter 2 –Device description
The HD 450 / HD 450 Injection has the following
features
Internal water softening /
decalcification system
The HD 450 / HD 450 Injection is equipped with an internal decalcifying system.
The degree of hardness of the local drinking water network is set in the unit, which
sets the decalcification system to the optimum performance. This ensures
optimum flushing of chlorides.
Speed monitoring of the
flushing arm
During a program run, the speed of the flushing arm is monitored regularly. This
ensures that the cleaning process runs smoothly and that the rinsing arm is not
blocked in the washing chamber by, for example, instruments pointing
downwards.
Cleaning process-
monitoring
During a program run, the rinsing process is monitored by a sensor. The function
of the rinsing arm and the concentration of the process chemistry are checked.
Automatic conductivity
measurement
The device constantly monitors the flushing process by means of conductivity
measurement. If the conductance value in the last final rinse is too high, a warning
is issued and the cleaning and disinfection process is terminated as unsuccessful.
USB, Ethernet
For safe, efficient and convenient documentation of the cleaning and disinfection
process, a USB and an Ethernet interface are integrated in the device. The data
can be easily transferred from the HD 450 / HD 450 Injection to the practice
computer for documentation.
Door lock
The HD 450 / HD 450 Injection has an automatic door lock with servo lock.
Emergency release
With the aid of the emergency release, the door can be opened manually in the
event of a power failure or malfunction.
3-stage acoustic signals
The device emits acoustic signals to inform the operator. These are intended to
attract attention and serve as information. The volume of the signals can be
adjusted to the requirements of the practical environment in the admin menu
(Chap.5 - SETUP MENU P.Fehler! Textmarke nicht definiert.).

Decalcifying system
The HD 450 / HD 450 Injection requires soft water to function properly. The Thermo Tabs
(Art. No. 100 921) process chemistry used guarantees this basic water quality up to a
hardness of 15°dH. If the water hardness exceeds 15°dH, the built-in decalcifying system
must be activated and IRA salt used. Always ensure that the injection rail is not loaded on
the open outer door. To do this, place the basic basket on a firm surface (worktop).
For further information please see Chap. 6 - DI water, S.47.

Chapter 2 –Device description
NOTE
IC Medical strongly recommends the use of demineralized water, regardless of the
hardness of the tap water in the medical office.
The conductivity of the water must not exceed 300 µS to avoid damage to
components of the device.
If a VE cartridge is used, IRA salt and rinse aid are NOT required in addition (for
further information, see Chap. 6 - DI water, S.47).
Automatic door lock
The automatic door lock guarantees a secure locking and tightness of the device
during the program run. The door is locked by means of a servo lock. For this
reason, the device must be connected to a mains supply to open and close the
door and the mains switch must be switched on.
Opening and closing the door
Pay attention to the locking symbol in the upper display line.
Door –locked (red)
Door –open (white)
NOTE
During the program run, the door can only be opened by the user by aborting the
program.
Never open the door by force!
After acknowledging a program abort or a program end, the door can be opened
using the personal 3-digit user code.
Emergency release
In the event of a power failure, the door of the HD 450 / HD 450 Injection cannot
be opened for instrument removal. In this case, you can activate the emergency
