INVOLI provides the necessary data for the safe and efficient integration of drones in the air
traffic. INVOLI.live platform allows users to visualize the position of INVOLI drone trackers,
together with the air traffic detected by the INVOLI ground receivers. The drone pilot uses the
information provided by the INVOLI.live system to improve the situational awareness of their
drones and react appropriately when an aircraft is approaching.
Flying a drone could create risks for people, air traffic and other assets. Before
flying, the drone operator has to make sure to know the local rules regarding drone
flights and obtain the necessary authorization to fly the drone(s).

SIM CARD PRELIMINARY CONFIGURATION
These steps could be skipped if your tracker has been provided already with a SIM Card.
Otherwise, for these steps, you will need the following items:
●The Micro SIM Card you will install into the LEMAN Drone Tracker
●A Smartphone
These steps will allow you to make the Micro SIM Card ready to be used into the LEMAN Drone
Tracker:
1. Make sure that your Smartphone is switched off
2. Insert the Micro Sim Card into your Smartphone (this procedure may be different
depending on your phone brand and model)
3. Turn the Smartphone on
4. If your Smartphone asks you for the SIM PIN, insert it. Otherwise, skip to step 7.
5. Enter your SIM PIN. If you've never used one, enter the default SIM PIN from your carrier.
If you don’t know the default SIM PIN, don't try to guess it. Check your carrier's customer
service page or the documents that came with your plan. Alternatively, you can contact
your carrier directly.
6. Configure your SIM to not ask for the PIN at the boot, using the following steps (this
procedure may be different depending on your phone brand and model):
a. iPhone: Settings > Cellular > SIM PIN. Then TURN OFF SIM PIN
b. Android: Settings > Security > Set up SIM card lock. UNCHECK Lock SIM Card
7. Depending on your SIM Card carrier, you will be requested to activate your SIM Card. This
is done depending on the type of contract you have purchased. For example, you may
have to send an SMS to activate your subscription
8. Depending on your SIM Card carrier and subscription, you may have to purchase a data
pack. Please be sure to have enough data before using the LEMAN Drone Tracker. A
subscription of 500 MB / year is enough for standard drone usage.
9. Congratulations, your SIM Card is ready to be installed in the tracker!
Notice: A wide option of SIM Cards and operators exists for every country. You should find an
operator that has the greatest coverage in the area of your operation. Also, consider that in
7

certain cases, having a foreign operator could be the right choice, this way you could benefit
from Roaming (switching automatically to the network that better works in a certain area).
LEMAN PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
This procedure will guide you through the configuration of the LEMAN Drone Tracker. These
steps could be skipped if your tracker has been provided already with a SIM Card.
1. Charging
a. Power the charging dock station and insert your powered-off tracker in it. The
RED LED of the tracker will light in red as soon as the charge starts.
b. Charge your LEMAN Drone Tracker for at least 2 hours.
2. Before continuing, make sure that the LEMAN Drone Tracker is switched off (the LED is
off).
3. Unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom of the tracker with a screwdriver:
8

4. Carefully remove the LEMAN Drone Tracker top cover
5. Insert the Micro SIM Card in the SIM socket. The SIM Connectors should face down, the
SIM should be inserted to match the picture below:
6. Make sure the sealing gasket is in place and reassemble the casing using the four
screws.
7. Congratulations, your LEMAN Drone Tracker is ready to be activated!

LEMAN DRONE TRACKER ACTIVATION
To get a GPS signal, you should be outside to perform the following steps correctly.
Also, the LEMAN Drone Tracker should be in an area with GSM or GPRS coverage.
These steps could be skipped if your tracker has been provided already with a SIM Card.
For these steps, you will need the following items and information:
●The LEMAN Drone Tracker with its SIM card inserted as per the previous chapter
●A mobile phone (with its own SIM card, connectivity, and SMS plan). SMS are sent to the
LEMAN Drone Tracker only for configuration purposes
●The APN of your SIM card provider
●The phone number of the SIM card installed into the LEMAN Drone Tracker
With your Sim card comes an Access Point Name (APN) that defines the network path for all
cellular data connections. It is therefore essential to configure the current APN settings of your
tracker to be fully compatible with the INVOLI.live platform.
The configuration of the LEMAN Drone Tracker is done by sending SMS with commands to the
Tracker. The Tracker will reply back with the result of the configuration. In case it was not
possible to receive messages from the tracker, please verify your connectivity. In case of an
error in writing, correct the SMS and send it once again. In case of doubt, please refer to the
following paragraph providing an example with real numbers.
1. The default APN set on the tracker is “internet”
To change the APN, please send a text message to the tracker SIM card phone number
once the tracker is ON using the following command “:123456OAPN,,”. Please note that
the O is a letter and not a number.
For example, if you have a Swisscom SIM card with the APN being gprs.swisscom.ch
you can send:123456Ogprs.swisscom.ch,,
The “:” and “,,” are part of the command.
If the command is accepted you will receive a message containing CMD-O. However, if
the command has a syntax error you will receive CMD-ERROR.
Example with APN being “internet”:

Congratulations! Your tracker is ready to be installed on a drone for tracking!
ATTACH YOUR TRACKER ON THE DRONE
Two pieces of hook-and-loop fastener are included with the LEMAN Drone tracker. The user may
use this or another compatible, similar solution to attach the tracker to the drone.
INVOLI declines any responsibility in case the fastener system provided to attach the tracker on
a drone fails either partially or totally, during a flight or otherwise.
In order to avoid positioning issues, the following steps should be followed:
➔Clean with an alcohol-based solution the surfaces before sticking the fastener pieces
➔The hook part (roughest side) must be stuck on the tracker. Do not cover the IMEI
number and the tracker’s left side air holes!
➔The loop part (smoothest side) must be stuck on the drone top to avoid gravity counter
force. Pay attention to preserving the center of gravity of the drone!
The following picture describes the fastener system set up:
Now the user can stick together the tracker on the drone

LEMAN REMOTE-ID FEATURES
If you have purchased the WIFI Broadcast Remote-ID compatible features are available.
Remote ID option allows the tracker to broadcast pilot and tracker identification, takeoff and
drone position and other details specified in the ASTM F3411-19 Remote ID and Tracking
standard.
This standard also describes how to generate a UAS operator number.
UAS identifier is available through the Open Drone ID application. It is composed of Involi's ICAO
number “1696” and a F letter + the Leman RID IMEI number. You can read this number on the
back side of the Leman device. Example: 1696F123456789012345.
A dedicated command is available to switch on/off the WIFI in the “Leman commands list”
chapter. You will also find commands related to UAS operator number and other parameters
loading.

INVOLI.live
INVOLI.live is the platform that allows you to follow your tracker, to register yourself as a drone
operator (in certain countries), to create a “drone profile” and pair your tracker to a drone profile.
Please refer to the INVOLI.live user manual available at the following link for initial configuration
and usage:
