Congratulations on your purchase of one of our highly versatile SoundBar amplifier
products. Please take a moment to review this manual as it will help ensure you many years of
trouble-free service from your new James Loudspeaker SoundBar amplifier product.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Key to the symbols
This symbol indicates that the device complies with electrical protection
class 2 and therefore does not require earthing.
Devices with this symbol may only be used in a dry indoor environment.
The triangle symbol with exclamation mark (without additional comment)
indicates important instructions for commissioning, operation and maintenance
of the device.
The term “Caution!” next to the triangle symbol indicates a medium risk. Failure
to observe this warning may result in property damage.
The term “Danger!” next to the triangle symbol indicates a high risk. Failure to
observe this warning may result in death or personal injury.
This symbol indicates that you must read and observe the operating instructions
and the safety and warning notices in order to operate the device.
This symbol (triangle with lightning) warns of dangerous voltages inside
the enclosure and of hazards due to electric shock.
Equipment marked with this symbol must NOT be disposed of with household

Faulty mains supply systems or excessive mains voltage can lead to electric shocks.
• All power supply or antenna systems connected to the speaker must comply with all applicable laws
and regulations and be professionally installed by an approved installation company.
• Use only the appropriate power cord to connect the speaker. Do not modify the power cord or its
plug.
Overvoltage in the power supply system (e.g. due to lightning) can damage or destroy the device and
power supply unit.
Safety Precautions
The amplifier carries mains voltage and voltages higher than 35 V AC or DC inside. It has no special pro-
tection against the intrusion of liquids or objects into the system. There is therefore a risk of lethal electric
shock.
• Never touch the speaker with wet hands.
• Only use the speaker in a dry place.
• The speaker must be protected from liquids of all kinds, small metal objects and foreign substances.
• If the speaker is moved from a cold environment to a warm environment, condensation may form
inside the unit. Wait until the loudspeaker has reached room temperature and is dry before
switching it on.
• Unplug the main power cable immediately if there is a foreign object or liquid into the amplifier
section.

Remote control and battery
This product comes with a remote control and batteries. The following must be observed when
handling the remote control and batteries:
• If the batteries are discharged, the range of the remote control will decrease significantly.
• Replace the batteries with the correct size and the DC voltage.
• When replacing the batteries, the polarity of the battery must be inserted correctly. Otherwise the
remote will not function.
Improper handling can lead to material damage.
• Do not drop the remote control.
• Do not expose the remote control and battery to water or other liquids.
• Do not operate or store the remote control and battery in locations with high humidity or high or low
temperature.
Leaking or exploding batteries can pose a health hazard and cause damage to the device.
• Remove batteries if the device will not be operated for a long period of time.
• Leaking batteries must be replaced immediately.
• If you find a leaking battery, do not touch the leaking material and dispose of the batteries
immediately.
• If your skin, eyes or mouth come into contact with the leaking battery material, clean the affected
area immediately.
• Do not ingest batteries because the chemical may harm and burn internal body parts
• Keep new and old batteries away from children.

Unpacking Product and Tools
When unpacking your speaker, do not use sharp or pointed objects to avoid possible damage to the
enclosure. Please keep the packaging in a safe place in case you need to transport the speaker later.
Your device contains the following parts:
• 1 powered SoundBar
• 1 remote control with (2) AAA batteries
• 1 power cable
• 1 90-degree HDMI adapter
Required tools:
• Phillips head screwdriver (Not included)

Connections
Caution - All connections to the SoundBar amplifier must be made before you
connect to the main power.
ACCESSING THE AMPLIFIER CONNECTIONS
The amplifier connections can be accessed by removing the 4 screws on the front panel and tilting the
amplifier down on its hinge. The arrows below show the 4 screws to remove with your Phillips head
screwdriver (not included).

1.Connecting the signal cables
POWER ON/OFF
Do not turn on until all connections are completed.
LINE POWER CONNECTION
The amplifier has a universal AC power supply and will work on AC voltages
between 100 and 240 volts automatically. Use only the supplied 90-degree elbow
AC cable.
AUX/ANALOG IN input (RCA JACKS)
Source device with analog line output, for example CD player, DVD player
network player, preamplifier, smartphone, tablet, PCs/laptops via 3.5 mm
headphone jack.
SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT (RCA JACK)
Low level signal output for external subwoofer via RCA cable. (Optional 2.4Ghz
Wireless Transmitter /Receiver is highly recommended.)
OPTICAL/DIGITAL IN (TosLink connector)
Source device with digital output, for example CD player, DVD player, network
player, satellite receiver, television, PCs/laptops (PCM up to 24/192 kHz).
HDMI-ARC input
To connect the Audio Return Channel of a compatible TV with an HDMI cable.
(HDMI cable not included.)
COAX/DIGITAL IN input (RCA JACK)
Source device with digital output, for example CD player, DVD player, network
player, satellite receiver, television, PCs/laptops (PCM up to 24/192 kHz).
BLUETOOTH ANTENNA
Source device with Bluetooth link such as network player, PCs/laptops,
preamplifier, television, smartphone or tablet

First connect the power cable to the mains connector and then to the mains supply.

Status LED Indicator
The infrared receiver and the status LED are located on the front behind the grille. During operation, the
LED color will change according to the input selection. The status LED confirms triggering of a command
by the remote control by flashing briefly.
Note: The sound will not be generated from the speakers for approximately 5 seconds after the unit is
powered on.
When all inputs except Bluetooth are selected, the LED will turn off after 5 seconds of inactivity with the
remote.
In Bluetooth mode, the blue LED will always stay on. In pairing mode, the LED will flash until paired. When
the volume is adjusted, the LED will flash.

Remote Control
Power
Use the power key to turn the device on/off.
(If the amplifier is turned off with the remote
control, auto-sense on will be deactivated.)
Mute Button
The mute button allows the device to be muted and unmuted.
The LED will flash while the amplifier is muted.
BT Button (Bluetooth)
Selects the Bluetooth input and the LED will turn blue.
Also used for pairing. Refer to section ‘Bluetooth: Pairing’ on
page 10 for details on pairing a device.
Analog Button
Selects the analog inputs and the LED will turn green.
Coax Button
Selects the digital coaxial input and the LED will turn white
Optical Button
Selects the digital optical input and the LED will turn yellow
HDMI ARC Button
Selects the HDMI-ARC digital input and the LED will turn purple
Volume Buttons
The volume can be adjusted with the volume up button
^ and volume down button v. The LED will flash while the
volume is changing and will stay solid when the min/max
volume is reached.
Voice, Music and Movie Buttons
Pressing the Voice, music or movie buttons activates special
DSP algorithms, resulting in a greater sense of depth and width.
The LED will flash for 3 seconds to indicate acceptance.
How to change batteries in the remote control:
• To change batteries, use a Phillips head screwdriver (not provided) to remove the screw at the
bottom base of the remote. Remove the cover and the (2) AAA batteries.
• Make sure the polarity of the new batteries is correct when inserting it into the battery
compartment. Then secure the cover and the screw.

Operation and Functions
Bluetooth: Pairing
Press the Bluetooth (BT) button, the blue LED light will blink on the front of the amplifier.
• There is no connection if blue LED is flashing slowly.
• The Bluetooth is in pairing mode if blue LED is flashing rapidly.
• The Bluetooth is paired if the blue LED lights continuously.
Pairing mode can be activated by pressing the BT button for three seconds on the remote control. The
speaker emits a confirmation tone, disconnects the current Bluetooth connection and is visible to other
devices. The pairing beacon will be “JLSM102”. The pairing must be executed within one minute,
otherwise the unit will default back to the last connected device.
Adjusting the Bluetooth Volume
Virtually all devices that output an audio signal via Bluetooth have their own volume control. For the
best audio quality, it is recommended to the set the volume of the source device to maximum and
adjust the playback volume with the remote control.
Auto Power Off (Auto Signal Sense)
The system has an automatic power off function that cannot be deactivated. When one of the inputs
Bluetooth or Analog is selected, the system switches to standby mode after a maximum of 20 minutes
without audio input.
With the digital inputs COAXIAL, OPTICAL TOSLINK, and HDMI-ARC, the auto-off circuit reacts directly
to the absence of a digital data stream and thus allows a faster switch-off. The playback device must
deactivate the data stream accordingly.
Auto Power On and Automatic Source Selection
The electronics of the system has an automatic power on function that automatically wakes it up from
standby mode as soon as a sound signal or digital data stream is present. The function is only active
if the system has been put into standby mode by the automatic switch-off function. The signal must be
present at the input that was selected during the automatic switch-off process. (This function is not
available for Bluetooth devices.) If standby mode is set manually by pressing the on/off button on the
remote control, the automatic switch-on function is deactivated.
HDMI-ARC and CEC
To enable sound transmission from the TV to the system both the CEC (Consumer Electronic Control)
and the ARC (Audio Return Channel) functionality must be activated on the TV set. This is the default
condition and the TV should automatically detect the external speaker. (Refer to the TV owner’s manual
for instructions if necessary.) If these functions are active, both the TV and the remote control can
control the volume of the system.

PCM Sound Format
The speaker system uses signals in the PCM (Pulse Code Modulator) format at the digital inputs. It may be
necessary to adjust the settings of players such as TV sets or game consoles accordingly. To do this, select
PCM as the audio output format in the playback menu. (Refer to the manual of your player for instructions if
necessary.)
DSP Technology
VOICE, MOVIE and MUSIC
A sophisticated DSP (Digital Signal Processor) algorithm in the speak system calculates additional
room information which when added to the source signal, leads to virtual expansion of the stereo
sound stage. If the Music function is selected on the remote control, this effect is rather subtle. With
Movie, the ratio of processed information to the original signal is increased; this mode is recommended
especially if a very large soundstage is desired and the locating precision is less important.
Other Applications
Option for External Subwoofer
If you desire further bass extension, the system has SUBOUT (Pre-Out). This output provides a full
range summed mono signal. The relative volume of the subwoofer, its crossover frequency and phase
setting must be adjusted at the active subwoofer itself. All crossover settings for this function should
be controlled in the optional powered subwoofer or external subwoofer amplifier.
You can also integrate an optional wireless transmitter/receiver for ease of adding bass. Installation
of a subwoofer can be very challenging, but a wireless device allows you to position the active
subwoofer anywhere in the room near an AC source without running an RCA cable. You should not
install the optional wireless transmitter/receiver in the amplifier compartment. It should be installed on
the back of the tv or another nearby location.
Care and Cleaning Tips
Caution
Improper handling of the speaker may result in damage.
• Always unplug the speaker before cleaning it.
• Before recommissioning, make sure that all connections are correct, that there are no short
circuits and that the speaker is completely dry.
• Do not press hard or poke at the speaker cone or tweeter diaphragm. The material is very thin
and is prone to damage easily.
• A lint-free cotton cloth or make-up brush are recommended tools for removal of dust.
